Paying jackpot on that high of a game is a losing situation, just making the rake more expensive and giving money to the people that are playing 1/2 and 2/4 limit that see every board to the end.

Yes, it was a Sunday night but we're not even 2 weeks into the honeymoon period of high-stakes poker in Florida and the Hard Rock should be the center of action in South Florida. It looks like a lot of players have had enough of the crappy security and poker room operations at The Rock and have chosen to take their business elsewhere.

In other news, I hear The Isle is doing really well...
Still laughing at this one.

I told people for the last 5 months, that if the limits ever went up, the "prettiness" of the Hard Rock would finally lose out to better run poker rooms. When local idiots are buying in for $100, they don't care that much about management. When real money gets involved, they stop being idiots and safety and a fair game wins every time.

And yes, I've noticed too that The Isle is doing better, and the Hard Rock is hurting a bit. I also think Mardi Grad and maybe Calder are taking tables away from the Hard Rock.

FYI, for those of you who are thinking of moving to South Florida to grind it out down here, you might be in for a let-down. The big games are few and far between, other solid players have found them already so they're not as easy as you would expect, and lots of the local fish have moved down a couple of levels after they realized they were getting killed.

I stopped by the Hard Rock last night and at its peak, there were only 3 $5/10NL games running, one short-handed $10/25NL and a short-handed $10/25PLO.

Each day there seems to be a couple of new faces that just flew in from out of town talking about what they've read on 2+2 and it's kind of funny to see the disappointment on their faces as they settle in and see that the scene hasn't lived up to the hype.

In other news, a couple of new rules have been implemented in the high limit room:

- You can now buy the button.
- Mississippi Straddle is allowed.

It's already been mentioned on 2+2 but figured it should also be noted in this thread:

The Hollywood Hard Rock will be hosting its first WPT tournament series this spring from April 27-May 3.

Hey, I'm flying in for a funeral this weekend and was looking to play a little no limit while I'm in town. I was wondering what the busiest times are, how many tables are running during the day and the night, how the players are and if they are a bunch of grey hairs on social security. I am looking at playing mostly 1-2 and 2-5. Thanks for your help!
