I got a box also. It seems like the criminals had done their homework which means getting a box should deter them from targetting you at all. However I was surprised that they only had 100-150 boxes total and since they're free they are likely to fill up very fast.

True, there's not a written record of what you're putting in there but there is a camera in the room in which you access your box, so they can still see what you're doing with it.

You ever play at Flagler? I see your a Miami guy too. After spending the weekend at the HR I tried that place out the last few days of this week after having not gone to Flagler in months and was pretty surprised with the action. It used to be a very small room with very few tables running. I don't know if its just because of the stakes changes or what but it was busy tuesday and wednesday nights. I was playing 2/5 but was paying attention to the higher games. There was a really deep 10/25 on tuesday, and what looked like a fishy 5/10 wednesday. Might want to check it out one day if you don't feel like driving all the way up to the HR.

With that said, I noticed something at Flagler in the lower games. There is only 1 lower nl game at Flagler. It looks to be juicier than the HR 1/2 and 1/3 because the buy ins are not split over two different levels. Anyone out there that has been running up to the HR might want to try flagler. Not sure how nitty it was, didn't watch for long but saw bigger stacks than what are on the smaller tables at the HR.

I have also heard that the higher NL games at Flagler are juicy. But I have also heard that its pretty shady and a lot of crap goes on and players can basically do what ever they want. Things such as speaking about a hand in spanish and not getting called on it, or leaving a chip stack on a table and someone else just giving them cash adn then sitting down. From what ive heard, the action is great but its not being managed as well as it should be.

I've only been twice before the law changed over but I intend to play there somewhat regularly since it's actually the closest room to me. It's just that right now I'm looking to play $5/10NL and when I called them up the other day to see how many tables they were running, they told me they just had 1, so I decided to keep playing at The Rock where action is pretty much guaranteed and I don't have to wait an hour for a seat. Oh, and $5/10NL there has a low min-buy and is capped at $1000 so that has been another deterrent. That said, I've been hearing great things about the popular $10/25NL games at Flagler so I'm sure I'll stop by soon to check it out.

Yeah, from my experience this is true. You have to be really careful and pay attention to whats going on around you especially if you don't speak Spanish. There is a very large percentage of regular players that know each other very well and don't hide it. Its the only card room I have been to that doesn't require the "English only" at the table rule. A lot of showing of hands and talking about hands when people shouldn't. If you speak Spanish don't let them know you do and you will have an edge because they will talk about their hands to their buddies in Spanish thinking you won't understand and you can get a lot of info this way. With that said, the action has been good.

Even before the change the 5/10 there was super juicy. A lot of shady people, but its poker so thats pretty much standard I guess. The language barrier can be intimidating but just pay attention and ask the dealer if your not sure of whats going on.

A friend of mine just got to The Rock and sent me this picture of the entrance to the poker room. Look ma, no bench! Maybe someone is listening to us?

It is too bad they had to remove the bench, it was nice to sit out side at night when you were waiting and just relax a bit.

The Hard Rock is hurting. Last night by midnight there were only two $5/10NL, one $10/25NL, and one $10/25PLO games running. By 2am, both $10/25 games broke and and there was only one struggling $5/10NL.

Yes, it was a Sunday night but we're not even 2 weeks into the honeymoon period of high-stakes poker in Florida and the Hard Rock should be the center of action in South Florida. It looks like a lot of players have had enough of the crappy security and poker room operations at The Rock and have chosen to take their business elsewhere.

In other news, I hear The Isle is doing really well...

+1 on poor poker room operations.

I was there last week looking to play my friend 20-40 heads up 2-7 Triple Draw. We got the okay to play from two floor people and the dealer.

After waiting 45 min they open the table for us and the dealer deals us two cards each. I tell him we need five for this game. He told us he thought we were kidding when we wanted to play 2-7 triple draw. I asked why would we be kidding? He didn’t have an answer. We asked the floor guy and he too thought we were kidding and figured everyone plays holdem.

He wouldn’t let us play 2-7 triple draw because he was worried for reason. I really don't know why. Then we asked if we can play Razz and again got a no.

I thought the law passed and we can play these game. Apparently not at the Hard Rock.

Eventually they let us play Stud H/L, but only if we pay $3 rake every hand. Greedy!

Last night I went to Gulfstream and they said they would be happy to spread 20-40 2-7 triple draw/razz heads up if they had an empty table and dealer. Plus they said it would be timed rake at $6.

Much better operations at the pari-mutuels.

If you wanted to play your friend heads up 20-40 2-7 triple draw, why not sit at your kitchen table and play it? Especially if you're worried about rake...

Paying a dealer $24/hour plus tips isn't such a bad deal, is it?

I dunno. Maybe they wanted some railbirds to wander up and gawk at this crazy game...

Can anyone give me an idea on the 2/5 action on the weekdays (mon-thurs)?
How many tables on average
Tight regs/degens
The usual info would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

My friend wanted to play at a casino. Plus the chance others might join. I don't mind paying $12 an hour plus tips. I do have a problem paying $3 every hand plus tips.

The $2/5NL game appears to have really taken off at The Rock. There are usually between 5-10 games going at most reasonable hours and there are plenty of degens to go around. I haven't played it yet myself but I recognize a lot of the terrible regs who played $5/10 $100-max playing in those games, as well as some regs who have been losing their asses playing some of the bigger games upstairs. While it looks like there's a lot of short-stacking going on, there should be enough tables to choose from, you should be able to find one with decent money on it.
