If this is true they should just make the games 16 handed.

While there's no way to prove the case either way common sense dictates there's more action 9 handed.

Not to mention its WAYYYYY more comfortable at any table 9-handed.

I want to apologize for my first post in this thread making light of the OP's situation. Honestly, hearing so much bull**** and conspiracy theories all day in poker rooms maybe makes me a bit cynical in situations like this and I just assumed OP lost his cash on his own somehow and was assuming the guy next to him stole it. There were def some missing details as to the follow up of the situation which he has since filled in. Obviously this theft happened so I apologize. I was also unaware of previous theft problems, maybe ignorant, but I've always felt safe, and lets face it guys, there is only so much a casino can do about you being followed home and things like that. Anyway, sorry for being doubtful about it all.

Apology accepted.

Different scenario IMO than being followed home.
I was robbed in the poker room, on casino premises, and I think the casino has a reasonable standard of security/protection to the players, and a duty to keep players safe from harm at the table, especially when I point the thief out to staff and later to security.

I'll let all parties gather facts though, and hope I can be made whole in the end.
I'm still shaken up about the incident and its been almost a week and a half.

What? Common sense dictates there's more action at 10 handed. The fish can't even tell if it's 9 or 10.

+1

Action is better 10 handed

With that being said, I prefer 9 handed especially for tournaments

Brian, I bet if I played 16 handed 2/5nl at Hard Rock I could win like $200/hr

William Mason,

Are you going to respond to this? BTW we took a poll tonight, everyone at my table hated 9 handed and we were all wondering when the switch back to 10 handed will occur.

Agreed I'd much rather it be changed back to 10

The games will remain 9-handed for now as we see how things work out. It is like anything else, it takes time to get used to change. If we feel that it is not working out, we can always change it back.

No bet, I'm sure you would crush.

As a mere mortal I prefer to have more hands in position and have less players to worry about behind me when I make iso plays. Throw in the comfortability factor and I'll take 9 handed all day.

It's annoying to come in to the Hard Rock and be able to play 1/2 9 handed but have to play 2/5 10 handed. This is the exact opposite of what it generally is anywhere else. Higher stakes = less or the same amount of players, not vice versa.

I really see no advantages to playing 10 handed vs 9. So far the only argument is the game is so soft you get one more stack at the table. Well then make it 11 or 12 handed and see how loose that game is.

I heard a rumor Hollywood Hard Rock is closing it's Poker Room and is making it into a slot area.

I'm guessing and hoping the person who was just there is completely wrong.
Possibly the Room is moving to a different part of the casino?

Anyone else hear this rumor or can shut it down as total BS!

Hollywood casino folds 19-year-old poker room, Former bingo hall still has blackjack, bingo and slots

Long before ESPN and the World Poker Tour discovered Texas Hold 'Em, locals were playing poker at Seminole Casino Hollywood.

But the poker apparently ended Sunday night, with the closing of the poker room. Spokesman Gary Bitner said the closing is part of an overall refurbishment, which includes more blackjack and moving slots into the former poker room.

It may not mean a lot to players now: they have 11 other poker rooms in South Florida to find games.

But it means something to the folks who opened it, who say almost every veteran player in South Florida passed through the place, including Michael "the Grinder" Mizrachi, who was a dealer.

The more seats at the table the better chance of getting someone awesome in the game, plus there's more money on the table which is generally the most important thing in these games. I can't imagine ever wanting less of them at my table lol.

If a great heads up player has a skill advantage over his opponent, the card advantage will even out over time, and the skilled player will win more over time.
If a great player is in a 10 handed game, the cumulative combined card advantage of his opponents will overwhelm any skill advantage the great player has. So the great player will not be able to beat the card advantage of the 9 other players.

Therefore, the lower number of players at a table will be to the advantage of a skilled player so he can maximize his skill advantage.

An extreme example is playing 72o heads up. A skilled player can be +EV in this situation heads up. However playing 72o in a 10 handed game would be -EV. The lower number of players is better for a skilled player.

9 handed blows in 2/5 at the hardrock. Since going 9 handed action has slowed down and it cost so much more money now to play 2/5 at the hardrock because there's usually 1 or 2 or even 3 players away from table so most of night the games are 8 handed to 6 handed which means blinds come real quick. Mason please go back to 10 handed. The isles tried 9 handed and went back to 10 handed because the players hated it. Why would hardrock try 9 handed after it didn't work at the isles. The key to profiting at poker is to keep your cost as low as possible to play and hardrock has made it more expensive to play. Poker rooms survive on regulars keep the regulars cost down go back to 10 handed please or I'm done with the hardrock

Mean while its costing your regular 2/5 players much more to play.

I don't have a horse in this race but how is it costing the players more to play? Because blinds come around faster?
