There are a couple of rooms that are much closer to you. Fort Pierce Jai Alai to the North and Palm Beach Kennel Club to the South. However, since you mention Coconut Creek, there is a bus service that runs down there four days a week from Stuart called Magic Carpet Ride. Its $33 and its likely you'll be travelling with many blue hairs, but who cares. They give you $25 in free play and free buffet lunch. Haven't gone on it myself yet, but seems like a decent deal. Received word that the poker room wants to start spreading a larger variety of game, including holdem variants, various stud games, mixed game tables, and Chinese poker. Was anything stopping them from spreading these games before (besides lack of player interest)?

The lack of players is 100% what stopped them. I would assume they have a small group that wants to get these games going if they are going to start having regular games, like to Tues/Thur mix games at isle...just takes a few players to get it going.

Horrible management. The place is a joke. Great new room. But it's laughable when trying to do anything. 4-5 floor people standing in middle doing nothing. They don't give a fk about the players. First room in Florida with good management will take over!

would draw more players.

What are the May Promotions?

I played there today for the first time. They now do $4 comps for $2/5 (and above I presume) but the food is no longer free. Very nice and clean room. Most of the dealers were nice and quick but one named <removed> was extremely rude. Never seen a rude dealer before.

Here is some information for STAX Poker Lounge Satellite Schedule (Seminole Coconut Creek) from June 2nd through July 31st:

Players will have the ability to qualify for the Mega Satellites via their free weekly “Play to Qualify” promotion. Players must acquire a minimum of 10 hours of live action/tournament play during the week to be eligible for our Sunday 12pm “Play to Qualify” tournament. The Final 15 players will be awarded a $575 entry into our end of the month (July 7th / August 4th) Mega Satellite, with a 10 seat Guarantee into the $5,300 buy-in main event $10,000,000 Guarantee at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open.

Players will also have the ability to qualify by winning an entry into the July 7th and August 4th Mega Satellites via “Step Tournaments”. The step tournament buy-in is $115 and will be rake free. Step tournaments will be held on select Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s, and Sunday’s at 2pm and will have a 1 seat guarantee into the $575 Mega Satellite.

Guests will also have the option of buying directly into the Mega Satellites the day of the event.

How many chips do you get for ten hours of play?

Does anybody know why the Seminole Casino at Coconut Creek has taken all the points away from the card holders, they no more slot machines games like the horses or the wheel, the chances of winning anything at the slots have been cut in half, no more significant comps? The please is almost empty now at all times, do they think they can make more money with less people playing? What is their politic now? Is there something going on with the State of Florida?

They thought they could get away with it after they successfully lobbied to have the internet cafes banned, since the elderly would have less choices.

I have to say after reading back through this thread i was scared to go to Coconut Creek yesterday, but with my recent move from Central NJ to South Florida i was anxious to play poker and Coco Creek was the closest so i tried it out yesterday. I don't see all the hate for this room, it was clean, staff was amazingly friendly, smoke free is a huge plus for me, dealers were good. There were 5-6 tables of 1-2 running around 5:30ish when i got there, 1 2-5 table with a list for a second and 3 or so tables for there tournament which i think was $65 nl holdem. Action wasn't anything special, a lot of short stackers ($50-$100) for 1-2, but overall a good experience and i will go back. The only thing i thought needed work was the drink service, i think there was only 1 girl working at a time for 10-12 tables and she was often backed up and sometimes no where to be found. Looking forward to seeing and meeting some locals as i know no one down here and just moved down for my job with ReMax.

Was at Coco again last night from 6pm-11pm had a bunch of 1-2 tables running, an omaha tourny, 2 2-5 tables and a $5 a point OFC game which i sat and watched/learned for about an hour, great game and group of guys!

anyone know what the rake is here?

Because they are in business to make money. If they are constantly paying an overlay, they lose money. The number of players on average is below the guarantee, so they made a business decision to lower it.
