Does it make sense to anyone here why there can't be a 5/10 game in the high limit room, when 10/20 with the same minimum buy-in is allowed? Especially since the room wasn't being used otherwise at the time.

I dunno, it's really hard to figure out what's going on when a certain whale walks in the room and the whole staff and players become in a frenzy to play with him or deal to him. Very interested to see how this plays out.

Well if that's the reason they changed the rule, it makes even less sense because the people that were playing 5/10 actually keep an extra 2/5 game going in the room until the 5/10 starts. So instead they just cater to the people that will never set foot in the room aside from that one circumstance.

They claimed it was for marketing purposes, but I don't see how it's better to just keep the room empty all day, rather than just allow the biggest game that would run to be in there, especially when there will be the same amount of money on the table regardless.

Marketing purposes are marketing purposes, not convenience purposes. Besides, why is it such a big deal?

Having the room empty 85% of the time seems worse than letting a game with the same amount of money be run in there was my point.

It's very arguable that it's much better marketing to have that 1 game running in the glass is better than not... So they should want to use it often

Yeah I mean I can understand they don't wanna run like a 2/5 or a shallow 5/10 with no chips on the table, but when it's 5/10 2k min that game is drastically bigger than anything else in the room, I don't really understand the problem.

saw a dealer peek at a players cards today. i was sitting in the 9 seat (9 handed tables for those that haven't played here) so i had a clear view. right after he pushed the pot to him he put his cards on top of the deck and fanned out the 2 top cards.
really felt like i should have said something to the floor before i left but didn't.

it's just wrong on so many levels.

It's so funny you mentioned that because I was playing 2/5 like 5 days ago and river action 3 ways went bb cks, utg bet $100 (into $300), I flat, bb c/r to allin $250 and both me and utg call, bb shows A4 on Q7532, utg shows QQ and mucks and I casually muck my 33. The dealer blatantly grabbed my hand and picked it up and looked at it, where 1 and 9 probably could have seen it if they were paying attention, and put it in the muck.

I'm not the type to tell the floor about this because they won't actually do anything about something like this and I'd rather just confront the dealer myself and make it crystal clear what they did was out of line to make sure they wont do it again... So I took the most aggro approach and was just like "Why the F@&$ did you just look at my cards???" and he started stumbling on his words tryin to say its no big deal and he's sorry if it upset me, etc.

I'm not going to post his name here but it wouldn't surprise me if it was the same person

well you must have scared him a little so now he isn't as blatant about it.
still 100% unacceptable and feel he shouldn't be dealing if he is going to expose a players hand to anyone including himself.

If anyone from the room still reads this thread.............please tell the dealers (one in particular) to pay attention to the game on the table and not the ones on the TV. At the old room he couldn't keep the game going if football was on, at the new room it's basketball. When I go to your poker room it's to play poker not hear the dealers' opinion on the sporting event. He can follow the action on the TV but not on the table. Your best dealers are the ones who keep the game moving with very little talking.

I doubt if anything will be done, but we will see.

For the upcoming tournament series, is there a dealer add on or 2% withheld? Wouldn't be both right?

The spec sheets read like it's both. 2% withheld from prize pool for staff plus a separate dealer addon fee. That'll keep me out of this tourney series. It's getting out of hand.

We are witholding 2% for the staff and offering an optional add on for most of the events for $10. The $100k and the $350k main do not have add ons.

seriously? your secretly taking money out of the prize pool? i don't care if it's $1 dollar. when the big print reads $400+$40 the entire $400 needs to be rewarded to the players.

if you feel you need to rape the poker community then at least do it in the open. nobody would be pissed off if you did $400+$50 (even better than your secret 2% on the prize pool) but when you hide a 2% fee in the fine print it isn't going to go over nicely.

It is written in the fine print on the tournament structure sheet, so it's not technically a secret. But the buy-in statement is grossly misleading. And at some point, we have to tell these people that it's enough. Stay far away from this tournament series and let them know why you are.

Been playing there fairly regularly. The room is great, nice, clean, spacious. Great idea to move the 2/5 games to the upper area with more space, comped food, etc.

One observation though, I've played 2/5 many times there, seems for a while, the games were deep with most players with $500-600+, and many buying in for 1k. Last night I played, opened a new table, EVERY player bought in for $200. Moved to another table, again, everyone with a $200 stack. Where are all the players that like a deeper 2/5 game playing? If this continues, I'm going to have to find somewhere else to play. A few short stacks is fine, but most of these players seem to be longing for the $100 buy in days.

I've played here on the weekends a few times and I haven't seen more than 1 or 2 short stacks on the table. I guess every day and every table is different. The action was fierce.

There is a separate thread for discussion related to the WPT regional and it's best for all to keep that discussion in one location and this on more general discussion of this property

The games are usually fairly deep, but when a table first opens they are always more shallow. I'd say at least 30% of the players initially buy-in for the min, but they just keep getting their 200 in and rebuying so once a table has been open for a couple hours it usually becomes pretty deep. Also all 2/5 games are 1k max now so that helps too, there are a decent number of people that buy in full.
