Yep, checked it out yesterday for a few minutes. Didn't play.

The good: Beautiful room, all non-smoking very nicely laid out. Nice new chips. Saw some big pots and not a ton of tight old nits. Casino is also very good looking.

The bad: Comp program is worse than The Isle for 1/2NL, which I think speaks to the generosity of The Isle as much as the cheapness of the Tribe. And the whole pay-for-water thing sucks.

The ugly: Getting there. If you enter thru the Northwest entrance, you can slip just past the Players Club and walk past the cigar kiosk to the elevators. You do not have to walk the length of the casino. But even by doing that, you'll smell of smoke. Even the elevators stink. It's absolutely not as bad as it used to be at the Creek, which is all well and good, but it's still noticeable.

I might try the room sometime but I still prefer The Isle's comps and clean air.

Would love to see the Creek address the issue somehow and come up with some kind of exclusive entrance for poker.

Every poker room in FL has a worse comp system for 1/2nl than the Isle.
Isle has $1.08/hr I believe for 1/2nl.
The pamphlet I got in mail says:
Happy Hour 4pm-8pm $1 Drinks:Wine, Well and Draft beer

Then in bold at bottom says "FREE BOTTLED WATER WHILE PLAYING!"

This is legit? Seems crazy to be giving away $1,080 seats every half hour for 12 hours a day for four days. Is there a minimum high hand that must be made?

It's a way for room management to be able to rake a chunk of the jackpot money that's supposed to go back to the players.

Played at the Creek for the first time in maybe three years. New room is very nice. Kind of quieter than The Isle, which you may or may not like. Doesn't seem like a 30-table room. Love the raised area for tourneys and the enclosed room (I want to play in there!). Love the clean chips at the Creek.

I found the fish to be deliciously wonderful to play against. Isle's players seem older, nittier. Plus there's always the chance that a blackjack player will try and play some poker at the Creek; at The Isle the odds that a slots player decides to try poker is maybe 1000000-1.

I'll probably jump between both rooms depending on promotions as such but I am going to give the Creek more tries in the future.

Pablo could you please start linking us to the current promotions each month? Unless I missed it somehow, I never saw anything here about the hours leaderboard from last month, and seeing as it was the sickest promotion ever I would've put in like 180 hours in the room instead of none. I didn't hear about this anywhere so I don't think it could have been advertised much.

I played for first time in new room this past weekend.

Pros
1. Nice room, tables, chairs, etc
2. Promotions
3. Action was good

Cons
1. Had to wait 45 minutes to get seated (there was 10 people on list) because front desk didnt want to open up new table incase other tables got short.
2. My clothing wreaked of cigarette smoke due to getting from garage to poker room and vice versa.

I heard there was supposed to be a poker room smoke free entrance, is there any truth to this? I would play here more often but the smoke is awful.

No smoke free entrance coming even though they could easily do it.

Been there twice in a week, left both times without smelling like smoke. Park in the west side of the garage and walk fast along the edge of the casino, especially near the smoke shop. Once you're in the elevator to the poker room you're good.

Talked to some tournament/cash game players about the past tournament series (mostly the main event) and wondered where exactly did all the money come from for all these tickets not to mention the missed main event guarantee. We figured over $150,000 in giveaway tickets and almost $20,000 of overlay for the main event alone. Hard to imagine the casino budgeted all that money for just a poker tournament and maybe in the end it truly came from the $2 jackpot fund. Would be pretty wrong to think that cash game players just funded a 1k tournament that most of them didn't even play in. Thoughts and/or answers?

It would suck to find out that your $2 JP money went to fund $150K of a tournament

I assumed the free tickets from high hand/ hours leaderboard came from the jackpot drop but the guarantee has to be on them.

Hi RJA...Even if you assumed the money came out of the jackpot fund, as a cash game player, are you ok that over $150,000 may have came out of a fund that you and others put into for X Time to host a 1k tournament is ok? Especially when the money could have went to some other cash game related promotion.

No, it never benefits us to have it given out as tournament tickets, it's their way of taking some of the jackpot drop for themselves since they rake the tournament.

It should just go out as cash for high hand or whatever, since I believe they are supposed to give back 100% of the money taken in. I don't know all the rules though.

Of course the money came from the jackpot drop. If you don't like tournaments then you can sell your ticket if you were eligible for any of the packages. If you weren't eligible for any of the packages then you probably aren't a high volume player and in turn you shouldn't expect to see as much of a return on the money you contributed to a jackpot drop. Obviously I think it sucks casinos get to keep the rake portion of the tournament ticket which is a loophole of giving back 100% of the money taken from jp drop to players. Promotions like this that cater to players who are putting in 80+ hours a month so they are ensured to see some of that money back are great (hard rocks gift card promo falls under this category as well).

Having a mix of good high hand promotions as well as grinder promotions IMO is the best way to balance keeping the recreational players happy as well as the people who put in tons of volume. It obviously sucks to have the tourny tickets raked, but it comes out to something like adding 13-15$ if you were top 10 to your hourly win rate (less if you sell your tickets, more if you play the tournaments and are better than a neutral ev player). I'd honestly argue that the tourny ticket promotion was far and away the best promotion I've seen a poker room run in south florida.

Just my 2c.

Yeah it was a really good promotion, just meant in general the loophole with the rake seems kinda ****ty.

i'm not sure the best spot to park if you choose the garage but use the door on the west side just before the valet garage entrance.
the elevator to the room is right around the corner.
