Not chopping is very dumb in a $1-3 game if the game is raked. Do you think you would make $100+ per hour in an unraked heads up $1-3 game?

Have you (or anyone else that player Tulalip) played much in the vancouver casinos? How is the competition there versus vancouver? Is the rake worse there?

Maybe i'll make a trip down to try it out.

If you're rolled for it, I'd play the $3/$5 game instead. I think it's easier to make money there if you play ABC poker because of the deeper stacks and the player pool, for the most part, is just as soft. You get a few grinders who know what they're doing at $3/$5 (where there are none at $1/$3), but that's not enough to offset the higher potential winnings.

Of course if you're not rolled for it, then ignore this, be disciplined, don't be stupid, play within your bankroll, etc.

The PLO8 games are a joke, but I assume that's the same everywhere. I think it played $3-6 PL, which was weird - kinda like online stakes (PL600) instead of the standard $2-5 or $5-5 you see.

Tons and tons of action in PLO8, which if you know anything about the game, tells you everything you need to know.

I guess the issue is that I had just sat down and did not want to reload that night, so was a bit put out that I let myself get sucked out so quickly. In retrospect I might have been better off jawboning the guy into folding, maybe even flashing him a King and implying a set with something like 'you're Aces are cracked pal.' I know long-term that is not an optimal approach.

I had sat down with $170 and had he folded I would have been up to $250 in about 15 minutes at the table.

all that means is you would've had $250 to lose to the next bad beat.
sorry. i would have reraised AK preflop, but it sounds like you just wanted to hit a flop with it. nothing wrong with that.

Well, with about $250-300 I would have had almost everybody at the table covered so by picking my spots I could avoid putting my entire stack at risk of a bad beat. Call it risk mitigation when you don't want to reload.

Reraising AK preflop? His pairs have me beat (marginally) at that point and we are already heads up. Moreover I don't want to give him opportunity to either fold or re-raise me there. Pot control. I would have folded to his $50 raise had I not hit the flop.

welcome to the forums.
poker strategy is a funny thing. playing like you don't want to reload and playing optimally are going to be two different things much of the time. it's hard to move down any lower than 1-3, so i guess i would advise building a bigger bankroll first.

Hopeful for PLO action, will play up to 5-10NL

Prob drive up early Saturday and make it a nice day.

Anyone with advice or want a game?
I've played at both and I'd be interested in heading up there again for NL.

Anybody know of any 1/2, 1/3 NL home games in Western Washington? I'm in the Tacoma area. Was stationed and started playing the on East Coast, and couldn't believe the lack of NL opportunities back here. Would be very interested to get into a regular game. Either a home game, or an underground game. Also interested in finding somebody to talk poker with/study/general game improvement in the area.

Upstate NY. Had to think for a second of what kind of base was up in Everett. How do you like the navy?

The Palace casino in Edmonds just remodeled and opened a poker room and is currently running the sweetest Monte Bonus I've ever seen. They're paying 200 dollar high hands every half hour around the clock!! I'm in no way shape or form affiliated, I'm just part of a group of players getting a 8/16 LHE game going every day at 2pm.

Do they have a website? I can't seem to find any trace of them online to get more info (like their exact location...)

Stopped there yesterday. At 2pm they had two 3-12 spread games, with a $100 per 1/2 hour high hand. At 7 Pm it went up to $200 per 1/2 hour!. New room, obviously a loss leader. They drop $3 per hand plus $2 jackpot. 8/16 game got going about 3:30. When I left at 9:30, there were two 3-12's and a 8/16. Got one of the $200 high hands Casino is actually in Mount Lake Terrace on 220th.

So I'm moving to Bellingham in a few months, should I consider BC as the place to go? How much of a pain in the ass is it to get over the border? If I go every weekend, will I be flagged?

I don't know. Maybe the nvg Vancouver thread might be better suited to answer that.

Sounds awesome. With my job I always have to report "international" travel so its a pain but I guess it'll be worth it.
