No idea why the muckleshoot doesnt push a 1/2 game. Jumping in on my 1/2 Bankroll from FL to the 3/5 game busted me when I first got here.

That said, the 3/5 player pool is pretty huge.

Thinking about moving to Seattle and have a few questions, would appreciate any input:

1.) Is there enough action in and around Seattle for a capable player to make 100k+ a year from playing full time poker?

Concerns that come to mind:
- $500 max bet rule and how it affects profits
- How often a 5/10 + spread limit game runs
- How much action there is at the 3/5 spread limit tables

2.) What would a player's schedule that was trying to make 100k profit in a year look like in Seattle? Weekdays 3/5 Spread at Muck, weekends 5/10 spread at Sno? Just trying to get a sense of where and how much action there is through the week...

3.) Is it better to live closer to Muckleshoot or Snoqualmie?

My other options for living are FL and Chicago, I would really like to live near some mountains though. Thanks for your help.

1) If you're talking about just playing live, and just playing in Wa state the answer is no. Not saying it can't be done, rather those are just unrealistic expectations. The 500 bet rule only really affects the 5-10-25 PLO game that goes at Tulalip (the best game you'll find in the state if you can afford the swings IMO). 5-10 NLH is rare. 3/5 are constant at Tul and the Muck but I wouldn't consider either "juicy".

2) Your schedule should look like this- Tulalip on Thurs (their best night) then spending the rest of the weekend playing up in Vancouver at the Edgewater or River Rock. Games are WAY better up there IMO. Come back play 5-10 NLH and 5-5 PLO at Sno on Mon and Tues, if they still run... then maybe finish up w a 3-5 session at Muck on Wed.

3) Neither, if you're talking just for Poker I would choose somewhere between Renton and Everett (depending on what you can afford, how much time you want to spend IN the mountains, and other numerous factors...) Don't know much about Chicago other than it being awesome, but if this all about the best place to play big bet poker I would recommend Florida, prolly the healthiest poker scene in the country right now.

Really appreciate the response, I'll start digging into the Vancouver poker scene. I'm by no means attached to Seattle itself, but rather the pacific NW. Seattle seems to have the most in terms of poker in that area. I wouldn't be opposed to living close to the Canadian border if the games in Vancouver are as good as I'm hoping you're saying they might be. Playing up there never really crossed my mind.

My goal is to become a mountain man, it's hard to do that in Florida...

Do you think it's possible to make 100k in Vancouver?

Thanks

A little off topic from poker, but grinding daily in Seattle can be especially depressing with the long rainy winter with very little sunshine and short days (sunset before 4pm in dec/jan). If any of your other hobbies (especially outdoor) require nice weather it could weigh in on your decision. The relatively short summers are beautiful here though (just don't expect to swim outside til July). Just adding my 2 cents. Good skiing though! Good luck with your decision.

Winters here are bad, but it's not good in the Midwest either (worse IMO).

The summers here cannot be beat and it's worth the depressing winter. I think so, anyway.

Even today it was remarkably beautiful to look out across the sound and see the Olympic mountains. It's worth all the rain IMO. Just know what to expect.

I've lived all over the world and this is by far the prettiest place I've lived. The air is also more crisp and fresh. The rain sucks but it certainly wouldn't be as beautiful without it.

Is this a new live thing or has it always been 3/5 as the lowest limits? Even 1/2 is a big step up for me since I'm so used to playing micros (obv life-nit itt)

Seattle's weather and sunlight is high variance. Sure, the winter downswings are brutal, but the summer heaters are sweet.

It's just a matter of whether you can handle the swings.

I have a friend who's a live grinder in Miami and it seems incredible. If I was making a decision solely based on ability to grind live poker, I would absolutely go to Florida.
