During the active month, you can pick up what you've earned for the month every Wednesday. Or, you can pick it all up at the end of the month. Something like the first Sunday of the month is when the previous month's vouchers are available.

You go to the poker room and sign for your voucher, then take it to the cage for your cash.

Having the poker games at Club Galaxy might work really well on Friday/Saturday nights. Good advertising of the game to the general public.

So I havent been to Muck since they put poker in the club. Are they still doing Club Galaxy events? Like, is there people player poker that can't even hear each other speak and bass making everyones chips vibrate? Can someone paint a realistic picture for me? Ive been into the club but am trying to imagine where the poker tables would go.

@PokerLM
Galaxy is completely cleared out and there are 19 (I think) tables. The space is temporary until the new room is finished. The new room will be on the second floor near the parking garage. Latest info is the room will be done "late July or August" (so I'm guessing October). No idea how many tables the new room will have.

@bipolarbearclaw
The current temporary location has done nothing at all to increase traffic. In fact, things have gotten much worse since the move. Right now it's pretty comparable to the end of the Brysen era - Zero 3/5 tables on weekdays and 2 tables on Fri/Sat. Hopefully things pick back up when the permanent location opens up.

FWIW, they did finally go back to an abbreviated version of the old food menu. It's not the complete menu, but it's a huge improvement over the original one for the temp location. Also, they've got are filters running, which doesn't stop the smoke from the casnio, but it is a noticeable improvement.

I appreciate the info, and will give it a go when the new room opens.

As for the current status, the overall tone of your post is hardly a glowing recommendation. How can you possibly be surprised/offended at the ratio of Fortune posts?

FYI for those looking for poker games for fun in Seattle area. Pocket Eights Poker has regular turbo tourneys with bi-monthly and yearly championships for real prizes. Games are played in pubs with 10 to 50 people 4-5 times a week.

The games are super-soft and fun. It is a good starting place for poker players before risking money in cash games.

Thanks for posting that.

My initial reaction as a serious poker player, is that those games are anything but fun, as I once played in a bar game in 2009. However, my old lady is not at all a serious poker player, but she'll occasionally see what I watch on tv and we'll play heads up every now and then. That is the extent of her playing experience and Im sure she would have a blast!

Sometime the not-so-good players act far more serious than justified because they don't want to look like fools.

Without experienced dealers and floors, things can get out of hand.

rooms that allow any smoke to enter should be avoided so that new rooms realize they cant make it if they do. if you are a non smoker i cant see any reason to go in a room that smoke enters. unless perhaps its the only place to play and the games are great and you arent concerned about your long term health.

i played there once for about an hour and left and never went back.

I did notice the Muck had 15 tables running last weekend. hh promo plus rakeback!

I played at the Muck last Saturday. My biggest peeves would be the lack of usb chargers and the current menu.

Only asian options, no burgers.. I sampled the fried rice - good, but smaller portion than Fortune.

Plusses would be bad players at the 1/3 game, and the fact its a casino with lots of things to do. Also plenty of bathrooms. Self serve Pepsi products.

They also give you a flat 30 minutes for break - no missed blind method. I found this refreshing.

Smoke didn't bother me, 420, but a few players did remark that the smoking was very irritating.

Also, it feels weird to play after 2am with zero promos, only rakeback. Other players voiced this as well.

In short, the combo of promos is enticing but not enough for me to make the extra 40 minute round trip.

Despite not gaining any new players now due to the temporary location, when Muck opens their new room plenty of players will give it a go out of pure curiosity. Hopefully they take advantage of the opportunity because word spreads quickly amongst players.

Poker rooms are pretty much all the same - not much spin you can put on it. Hideaway tried to improve with better chairs and that didn't go far.

Problem with Muck is still its distance from Seattle and Eastside and the lack of upside it can offer to make up for the extra drive.

Fact is that poker isn't appealing anymore. There are very few 3/6 - 4/8 limit entry games around and new players aren't going to jump straight into 1/3 NL and be fine with losing $100 - $300 in one hand.

Without influx of new players, the player pool will continue to shrink.

Allowing Fortune to pretty much suck all the traffic around the area with its $1,000/hr promotion probably isn't going to be healthy for the player pool as a whole either.

a certain amount of new players need to be able to get lucky and win. this way they come back and get better and move up in stakes. with the super high rake in the small games that isnt possible for them so after consecutive losses they or most dont come back.
in years back total rake per pot was less and the small bet so you could overcome that if a good player or getting lucky if you played your best but didnt know the game well.

I find the contrast between Fortune and Red Dragon really interesting. Fortune is the best run poker room I’ve ever seen yet it’s so well run and such a tight ship that I don’t actually find myself having fun playing there. Whereas a place like RD that isn’t exactly a great run room and plays fast and loose w the rules has a different more gambly energy to it and makes feel like I’m having more fun playing there. Seems counterintuitive but that’s how I feel.

Wild Wild West vs casino.

I can see that argument.

Dragon does make some very irritating and questionable rulings, and the way floors deal with them is probably laughable at best.

I hate a lot of things about Dragon but I still much rather play there than Fortune.

Note to self: The Memorial Day Fortune O/8 game was super spicy. Lots of raising and bluffing. Was -300 at one point but ran it up to +400.

Going camping in 6 hours. Gonna stop at winco in Fife to pickup fried chicken. Lots of people going to Vegas soon... I've never been to the WSOP

Oh yeah new promo at Fortune

Yep that’s how my old lady and I got started. I loved those pub games. I think she won a nice chip set.

Also, Fortune improved the chicken tacos by going to grilled chicken strips instead of diced chicken breast. Truly a steal at $4

Also I am banning myself from playing Omaha8 at said establishment

This fortune promo isn’t as bad as the years of Tulalip HH nonsense our recreational poker community had to endure but it still pisses me off.

Any promo that exponentially rewards the regular day to day nits and not the action casual players who can only play weekends/after work is bad in the long run. The regular nits will still come and start games and play during the day. they have social security and are degenerates. It’s the players who
pay your rake and HH drops by driving pots and raising action that you want to entice. When nits who wait for HH eligible hands only scoop thousands in player funded money and just pocket it it sucks. It doesn’t get gambled back up or drives higher stakes Day time games unfortunately.

Just drop down the HH promo slowly don’t intensify it.

Pretty standard that players are passively checking down to try to hit HH.

What kind of promo do you suggest to pay out $16,000 a day to action players?
