Re: Seattle

casinos close poker rooms because they are lots of work and the pit doesnt understand them so is against them. replacing poker with slots only works in a casino that has no more room for slots and their slots are 100% full all the time.

yet few in the business really understand having a complete casino helps overall long term. some slot players come in to poker as a break and poker players also bring in others to play slots or pit games which they do themselves at times.

Can't confirm but I feel like I've had this same conversation with a dealer at another casino. Still waiting for more data before taking it as a serious rumor.

No surprise if the Tulalip closes the poker room. More room for slots.

Fwiw, management denied this the other day. September is when things start picking back up, every year. So it seems odd to shut down at that time. Either way, tulalip is listening to players now and changing a bit to appease them from what I've seen lately. If they shutdown their room, we will all be stuck with 300 max bet, and that's lame!!

I did see an article saying sno or muck was starting mobile gambling that could only be cashed out at the casino. Games not against the house. What could that be? How could that be? Interesting for sure considering our laws and bills up for vote this year.. I'll try to dig it up.

The tribes were the driving force behind the State of Washington banning on-line poker 10 years ago. Today with every the Tribes either abandoning or downsizing their poker footprint, its time for this immoral law to be overturned.

Sure but is the marginal value of the next new bank of slots greater than the sacrificed value of a poker room? See Sklansky re: average vs marginal ROI.

Three weeks after this was posted, I must say they're getting better each week. Even though I had an absurd experience a couple of weeks ago (bounced out of PLO when I got called for a table change then they broke the game and drew for seats without including me) the room manager ended up resolving it professionally with me. He's been driving for more consistency and is really a positive influence.

The new rule about "action isn't complete until the complete value of a call is out and over the line" makes sense, but I'm waiting for it to conflict with "insufficient calls out of turn mean you have to leave your money in the pot." So far it seems to mostly apply at showdown though.

Re: Seattle

If I heard the explanation correctly, you must hit a high hand for $250 on Monday, and possibly also Tuesday, and your subsequent high hands for the rest of the week (Sunday) will be $499.

Re: Seattle

I'm taking a trip to Seattle next week and looking to play some 1/2 or 1/3nl in the afternoon before friends and family are out of work. Seems like there's a couple options -- where am I most likely to get a good game without venturing too far from the city?

Re: Seattle

Fortune south of downtown, Red Dragon north of downtown. Although even though both those games are good you should probably spend the next week learning PLO and come amass "Sklansky bucks" in the Red Dragon 1-3 PLO. Those games are reeeeeeeallly soft.

Yep, must hit 1 high hand anytime starting Monday. All subsequent high hands are $499 until Sunday night at which point the promotion resets for the new week.

Just be aware of rush hour travel time as it will drastically change your commute time.

Re: Seattle

Speaking of Dragon PLO...some guy a month ago was arguing with a ruling, threw a tantrum for about 45 minutes at the table before he cashes out, and mostly just rambling on and on with himself...

Then he followed the floor around for 30 minutes after he cashed out to argue the ruling. It was funny to watch him literally stalks the floor walking around the poker tables and just rambling on for that whole stretch.

He's just trying to make sure he doesn't get another unfavorable ruling.

Re: Seattle

Yikes, I'm pretty sure some people perceive me that way. However I haven't thrown any 45 minute tantrums, talked to myself like this, or stalked floorpersons so hopefully this is someone else.

I'm really big on personal self- improvement and even being perceived this way with a tiny "grain of truth" is -EV. If it was me then it's a little exaggerated but at least someone got entertainment value. Regardless, we should all be working on our **** constantly and I'm definitely working on mine.

Re: Seattle

So if you hit your first on Thursday, you will be eligible Fri-Sun, but a second one on Thursday will still be $250?
