“Robert’s Rules Of Poker” is authored by Robert Ciaffone

12. Procedure for an exposed card varies with the poker form, and is given in the section for each game. A card that is flashed by a dealer is treated as an exposed card. A card that is flashed by a player will play. To obtain a ruling on whether a card was exposed and should be replaced, a player should announce that the card was flashed or exposed before looking at it. A down card dealt off the table is an exposed card.

13. If a card is exposed due to dealer error, a player does not have an option to take or reject the card. The situation will be governed by the rules for the particular game being played.

I'm pretty familiar with Muck's tournament schedule.

If you're talking big buyin, Muckleshoot does a Sunday morning/afternoon tournament that is 200-300 buyin range, but probably only 4-5 tables. Monday and Tuesday night they might have decent structures in the 100-200 buyin range, but I'm guessing 50-60 entries max.

I would imagine Tulalip has an equal buyin tournament weekly, perhaps Friday night? And they might do a monthly $500 buyin. Any 200+ buyin with >=100 entries would probably be your best bet, but that might limit you to monthlies, which is only Tulalip IMO unless you count Mucks series's.

Now for larger field donkaments(if you don't mind crapshoots)...Muck does $100 bounty friday nights w/ 100-150 total entries. Their saturday tournament has similar # of entries but is only a $60 buyin w/o bounty. These are both 15k chips, 100-100 to start, and will probably be at 300/600 blinds after 1st break and 1k/2k after the 2nd. Wed and Thurs night seem to be worse versions of this tournament with smaller fields.

Also worth mentioning Fortune Poker - a year ago or so, they seemed to have some larger field Sat and Sun morning donkaments (at the biggest, was 10+ tables approaching 150 entries). Not sure what the current #s are like, but I'd guess "about the same".

This might be a dumb question but what's the normal draw for the dailies at Red Dragon and Tulalip, and what are their blind structures? I'd like to dip my toe in a bit w/ live poker and be able to play some hands before it becomes a push/fold-fest

Most casinos around Seattle draw about 25 - 40 players in daily donkaments and the structure is typically 100 to 200bb to start and doubling up at 15 minute intervals.

So you're looking at spending most of the tourney near money at 5 to 20bb and trying to survive.

The good news is most players are not shovebotting optimally.

Aside from Las Vegas during the summer, I'm curious where you can find numerous tournaments that are deep stacked.

Yeah, as bad as the rake can be for small tourneys, I often wonder if there's still a lot of value because of that.

Deepstack tourneys don't make financial sense for the casinos around here.

1. Except Tulalip, there isn't another casino with hotels attached to the property. Plus Tulalip is already routinely selling out its rooms and weekends are always packed.

2. Cost of finding dealers for these tourneys.

3. Available tables without cannibalizing existing cash games or not being able to capitalize on new traffic.

Just seem like a bad financial move and cannot be justified.

I wouldn't know, I'm new to poker, young, naive, optimistic, etc.

Yea, that makes sense. It's just a bummer that there's no avenues to play any type of deep stack poker without jumping right into the lion's den of 1/3, where it's pretty easy to lose a ton of money. It's the casinos' prerogative, but it's less than ideal, esp w/ the state of online poker in WA.

on another note, how would you figure out what the rake is, in tourneys or in cash games? Nobody seems transparent about it.

You can simply ask individual rooms.

Another thing to be aware is that 90% of players don't care, so when you ask these rooms in a certain way, they could respond somewhat defensively. Do so with caution and probably in a more non-direct way.

Seattle area daily tournament Power Rankings-

1) Carribean- Lowest rake, friendly regs, reasonable turnout.
2) Fortune- Good turnout, reasonable rake, professional dealers/floor.
3) Hideaway- Bigger buy ins, close drive.
4) Red Dragon- No real opinion.

Tie 5) Tulalip- Sh*tty drive, high rake, bad dealers, worse floor.
5) Muckleshoot- Worst drive, good structure good turnout, highest rake.

Pretty sure the drive element all depends on where you live.

What's the rake for these, especially the top two?

The pre-Redbird Hideaway had some astonishingly good rakes for small tourneys IIRC, really just loss leaders to get people in the building to buy drinks and play cash games I guess. Are you rating the present incarnation of the Hideaway?

Happy to answer any questions about Redbird's.

Our daily tournaments are $50 with $40 going to the prize pool, $5 to the house, and $5 shared by the dealers. Those run at 10am and 8pm on weekdays (late reg and re-entry until the start of level 5). We get a lot of compliments on the structure for a low buy-in. It's better than a turbo but I wouldn't call it a deep stack. Those usually run 3-4 hours and get 20-30 runners. On Saturdays at 10am we run a $100 deep stack with $500 added to the prize pool.

Fairly slow because summer and getting the word out. 6/12 Big O has been running very consistent on Tue / Thu / Sat evenings (usually two tables). Pan is also going Tue / Thu during the day. Mix game has been running on Wed and Sat evenings. 4/8 Omaha 8 has been mostly running on Mon.

Holdem hasn’t been consistent other than Fri nights, but a game seems to break out with stakes depending on what people want to play (2/20, 2/100, 2/300). We do run with 1/2 blinds.

We’re taking it kinda slow so we can get consistently good as things get busier.

$10,000 Spade Royal flush hit yesterday afternoon at Red Dragon.
3-20 game. around 3:30pm
I think the guy's name was Mike. He hit runner-runner to suck out and hit the royal.

For those who are curious, I believe he tipped the dealer the pot, probably around $250, played a few more hands and left.
