thanks for any help.
In Seattle you have the Indian casinos and the non-Indian ones. In the Indian casinos (Muckleshoot, Tulalip etc) the max bet is $500. At non-Indian ones (like Club Hollywood etc in Shoreline), the max bet used to be $40 but is currently $100.
Club Hollywood might be spreading "2-40 spread limit." What that means: Blinds will be $1/$2. At any stage you can bet/raise anywhere between $2 and $40 (as long as it's at least double the previous bet/raise of course). For example, in 2-40 spread limit, on the flop the guy to your right bets $10. You could now raise to anywhere between $20 and $50.
The reason you will often see 2-40 in particular is a holdover from that previous max bet, which used to be $40. Now that the max bet is $100, they will often spread 2-100, where you can obviously bet/raise up to $100 over the previous bet.
At Indian casinos where the max bet is $500, the 3-5 game essentially plays more or less like no-limit; they just can't call it no-limit because of that limited maximum bet size.
Hope that helps. Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm off anywhere.
