bumping this thread because of recent events(the birth of my daughter) i haven't been able to play any pokerz. Any good or exciting news on the live poker scene lately? Are any of you planning on heading down to the WSOP this year and what are your plans?

Is there a list of casino/cardrooms that spread 1/2 NL HE? Or is 1/3 the smallest game typically spread?

every poker room in shoreline spreads 1/2, but it has a $20 or $40 max bet. so it's not really NLHE. you can't shove the flop if you're deep stacked and you can almost never pot the river.
it's bad.

It was recently changed to $100 max bet.

That's analogous to 5/10 at the tribal casinos. It's almost a real game

but not always spread that way - I was at Club Hollywood yesterday and they only had two 2-40 games going. They said they might get a 2-100 game going later - I don't know how often it runs, and my very uneducated guess is that Hollywood is the only room in Shoreline that gets 2-100 going, but I'm eager to be corrected if I'm mistaken...

I don't know if you meant a specific "any of you" but I'm driving from Seattle to Vegas in mid-June and staying through the ME.

2-100 is extremely unpopular. And why not? 2-40 rakes more and is a far worse game.

headed up to shoreline for the first time in a while and thought i'd post about what i found there in case it's helpful to other occasional players.

i started at the hideaway around 2145 and worked my way north to parkers where i finally found a few games at 2230.

hideaway had one table of 4/8 O8 with a list of 4 and a table of 3-10 spread (1 and 3 blinds) with a list of 3.

goldies has no poker room. i guess this is old news but i'd never been in there so i went in to verify.

the drift on inn had two tables of 2-20 spread with some interest lists for 2-40 and 3-100. it also had a cougar dancing alone on an empty dance floor to "poker face".

i skipped club hollywood.

parkers had a table of 4/8 and two tables of 8/16. they also had an interest list for a 6/12 O8 half-kill game on sunday.

the second 8/16 table broke around 2330. both games were pretty good, largely due to an east african(?) dude who was spiking a lot of awesome hands on the river which had the regs at both tables talking.

some of you were probably there. i was the beardo in the purple shirt who went runner-runner broadway with KJ in a large pot against several better hands .

Ok letme see if i have this straight. What they call spread out there plays the same as NL same rules just 500 is the max bet for 3-5 and 100 for 1-2 ? I am going to be in Auburn next mth. I get in at midnight and figured I could just play a session and save a night of hotel cost and check in Sunday. I was just about to move up to 50nl on tilt before blk Fri. I spent 2 days in Vegas in April and made a decent profit and found the live non regs just so easy. It felt like playing 5nl online.
So I guess my question since I am just an avg online player skill wise can i sit in the 3-5 game at the Muck? I would much rather play 1-2 tho but the room manager said it dose not run much.

Pretty much. The other difference between WA "spread limit" and standard no limit is that there is a four bet cap on each street. I don't play the spread games or no limit so I don't know if that is ever a strategic issue.

It's mostly an issue pre-flop.

Tribals(tulalip, sno, muck) are 500 max bet any game. Local non-tribals are 100 max bet.

Ok i think I am getting this wrong. I have only played live once that was at the mirage.

500 max bet so you cant get it in for 500 pre say raise 3bet 4bet 5 bet shove? or do you mean by 4 bet cap that the most you can raise is 20bux?

Sorry for being such an idiot

The max on each bet/raise is 500. If I'm utg, I can bet $500, be raised $500 etc.

in a 2/5 or 3/5 game the max bet utg is actually 505. /nitpicking

The situation you run into pre-flop is someone raises to $15 UTG, +1 3-bets to $25 and leave only one more raise left.

how have the games been since Black Friday(3-5 and 5-10 SL), tougher with more online players or same ol same ol?

What area tournaments are available with at least $100 buyin? I'm aware of the $100 Sundays at the Hideaway, and $130 Thursdays at Tulalip, plus there's a $200-ish once a month at Muckleshoot, right? Anything else, either regular or irregular?

Not the right time of the year to assess. Most serious players are in Vegas.

I'm banking on the latter. Remember, online had been gone here for months before BF. Most pro grinders moved and there wasn't many to begin with as with sunny southern California to the south, with all its action, and Canada up north with it's ease of online play, there was just not much keeping an online grinder here and although you can make a decent living from BnM, there's just not the limits you'd find elsewhere and would be more attractive to anyone who had a need to make more than enough money to live modestly.

Of coarse some, like me tried to make it work and go on as if nothing happened. Going back to live games might be one of the more pivotal things that's happened for me in poker in a long time. I'm not sure I would have done it either unless my hand was forced. I'm looking for positives out of this nightmare
