HE is routinely the tightest game of any mix in which it is played. People who wouldn't think twice about playing QJ86 or QJ885 in the respective Omaha rounds still know better than to come in with J8o UTG in hold 'em.

It's a good point. I don't see any reason to take a normative position one way or another. IIRC online they typically have traditional HORSE, in that order, but the 8- and 10-games mix the games up quite a bit so similar games aren't adjacent.

The only practical implication for me, besides people forgetting the game, is that I like to play all my "free hands" in the flop games before my blinds, so I have to plan a bit better if all the stud is bunched together.

Sorry couple questions about the Tualip Pow Wow Series
1. How many runners you guys expect?
2. Is there money added to the pool?
3. Looking at structure sheet, is it pretty much a turbo?
4. How will the cash games be affected? I would rather play in a good cash game then a 235 tournament to be honest. Would it be more worthwhile to play in the cash games at muckleshoot, snoqualmine, or diamond Lil that night? I prefer 3/5 higher for NL and 8/16 higher for limit.

I expect around 300 runners total for the $235 between the day 1s. Cash games will not be available at Tulalip until around 4 or 5 when they start breaking tournament tables because the room is so small, and even then they will only be able to start one table at a time as tables open up. If you are strictly looking to play 3/5 cash game the Muck is your best bet for Saturday night.

I thought the houses jackpot fund had to be returned to the players before the casino could close? They can't just take the promo fund with them or else casinos would just use that fund as additional hidden rake.

I believe they are allowed to keep 10% or 15% as "administrative" fees, but the rest must be returned to the players

That's correct. I spoke with the floor about the changes last night, and he said they have been running in the red on the jackpot drop, i.e. giving away more than raking, and they are merely adjusting things so they stop losing money on the promotions. Seems a little fishy, but I doubt this is an outright cash grab.

The games have been good after 4 though they die a bit at 7PM (I think) because of the tourney for a couple of hours. I don't think the crowd has been as big as anticipated, but I think that makes man players play even more hands. Not bad overall, and with a decent full house you're likely to get the $200 for that particular 15 mins.

Yeah, I'm gonna guess that was posted in the wrong thread.

Reporting from PowWow tourny($235 buy in) at T.

* 112 entrances on day 1A, 18 made to day 2
* 146 entrances on day 1B(some from 1A with re-buys), 32 made to day 2
* Top 26 paid with over 13K for first place
* Tournament was smoothly and on time

1. Played on day 1B and made to day 2 with only 21,900 in chips. Got stuck in a tough table with many regs. I knew I was in a trouble when people said their greetings by the first names, 'how's your wife', etc.

2. Need some luck with table draw to go deep. My chance would have been better if I was in the action table where one guy tripled up by level 2.

3. Slow until level 7. Players from my table took turns going all in by level 8.

4. Busted out at 39th'ish when my AQ clubs all-in before flop did not hold up against AJ off when J came at the river.

Overall, it was a good tourny for $235. Only negative was that it felt like everyone knew each other and couple of dealers were somewhat bad(older gent named Rod shuffled the deck like 8 year old, I think he has arthritis or carpal)

I'm on the fence for the big one this weekend. Floor said they are expecting around 400 runners.

thats unfortunate. I played 1b as well and the dealers I got were pretty good. I busted out in the last level of day 1.

played 1B of the Pow Wow opener. Made it to day 2 and was surprised how quickly the money was reached. Good amount of short stack survivors just trying to make day 2 most likely. The levels were quite aggressive, but never felt completely rushed. Tourney was smooth for the most part, ended up final tabling before busting out in 7th.

Pay structure seemed pretty solid, will likely be back for the main this weekend.

Unusual, Rod is one of the best with mechanics. Plus he has good people skills.

Tourney is split up in days 1A, 1B, and 1C before combining all the runners on Sunday.

Made enough from couple of sessions to free roll for the big tourny this weekend.

I will be playing day 1B and hope to make to Sunday.

According to Bravo it is not true. Last hit back in November.

Was not hit as of Monday 2am. Not sure if hit since.
