Letting Spanky leave was a mistake. He did an amazing job for their tourneys and always had some sort of goal based series that kept you coming back. Anyway he went to sno, but I was just there and I guess he's now out of the biz.
Tournaments around here suck period. The only one maybe worth it is the last Sunday of the month at Tulalip. That said, I thought the winter classic at the Muck was pretty good and I'd call it a success as far as turn out. Obv adding 50k had a lot to do with that. I did ask a couple different floor ppl/TD's and both said they should be running these at least twice a year. That's a good sign because when I asked them before the series they said they were gonna see how this did and decide based on it's success.
For anyone that missed it, here's what it was:

They actually made the first event 10k starting stack, even though it was advertised online as 6k. The players got this changed, through bitching and threats to not play.
The games were sick guys. Live poker is soooo good. I bricked all three tournaments but had no problem getting my money in good and there were mistakes made on almost every action of every hand.
The lives games were a dream as well. Playing 3-5 which is pretty much the lowest nl game they have (I think) was super sick. It was not uncommon to make 1k-2k just playing abc while watching a football game on TV or having some dinner. The game, and I **** you not, plays softer then 10nl game online.
I played at both sno and the muck and probably played about 10-15 different tables and the were ALL good. The best thing? The limping. I had completely forgotten about that in live but there was constant limping, and from EP, and almost no pressure put on anyone in these games except when they felt like betting stacks post flop with either bluffs or top pair type hands. This post is obv a wall of text but guys it changed my whole outlook and blew my mind. Go play some live 3-5nl if you get a chance, and at every opportunity. You will not be disappointed.
