You can do whatever the players want but you realize that this is highly non-standard for stud, right? It's like saying you want $3-5 NLHE with a $5 ante (I used to love the Pokerstars Ante Up tournaments) or that you want $30/60 LHE with mandatory straddles of $60 and $90. Those will drive action, too, but they fundamentally alter those games to make them decidedly non-standard.

Making defenses "automatic" actually reduces a good player's edge, but that might be good for the long-term health of the game.

I am surprised at the size of the antes as well, but it is rather traditional to increase the antes as a proportion of the bet as the game gets bigger. This is done deliberately to increase variance so the fish have a chance to win sometimes.

I played in the 6/12 Hideaway once when visiting and also found it very odd to have a $3 bring in, especially with $2 chips. However, since the rake is proportionally so high, I figured that cancelled out any benefit of defending more loosely.

Right, which is why (as discussed in the link I posted earlier) the Foxwoods $10/20 stud had an ante of 0.1 SB, but the $75/150 had an ante of 0.2 SB. They both had about the same bring-in, though (0.3 SB vs. 0.33, respectively). They didn't make the bring in in the 75 game $35 or $40.

I tend to trust that people spreading a game in a locale where it's been spread consistently for decades have figured out a good balance between luck and skill to create a sustainable yet profitable game, but hey, maybe Foxwoods 75 players just don't like action as much.

Is there a hand you wouldn't defend against a single villians completion if you had the bring-in with this structure?

THIS IS BS.
I had thought about this as well. As a recreational player who has a real job, I only play on weekend nights. Has anyone checked with the state gaming board to see if it is legal to have a jackpot rake when there is absolutely nothing that can be won during that time? I understand using bigger promotions to try to get more games during slow times, but there should be at least something that you could win if you are paying into the jackpot.

4 accused of robbery after following casino patrons home
Quote:
Four men were charged with robbery this week, accused of following a vehicle from the Muckleshoot Casino to a residential neighborhood in Kirkland and robbing the occupants outside a home there. Seattle and Bellevue cops are investigating similar robberies of casino patrons.
These incidents took place last year but this is a good reminder to exercise due caution when heading home after your poker sessions.

Going to the Muck for the first time tonight. Do they run the regular 4/8 omaha on Saturdays or just the 15/30?

Yes, one, possibly two 4/8 O8 games are common Saturdays. You can also check the Bravo Poker Live app to see for sure.

I don't understand this at all. I might interpret it as being about Diamond Lil's, except the second sentence makes no sense referring to limit games.

Pretty tilting huh? I was just going to pretend I didn't read it.

Overheard conversation at Sno that Tulalip is moving room and downsizing.

Can anyone confirm?

Snoqualmie Casino would be smart to take advantage of the Tulalip poker room downsizing (if true) by returning the room to 100% poker. Snoqualmie - replace the black-jack tables with poker tables. If Tulalip poker is capacity constrained during peak periods, east-side King County poker players will embrace a closer alternative.

Sno could easily do more regardless what is happening in the other two rooms.

Agreed. Use to play at Sno a bit, back when Spanky was in charge of the poker room. But frequently waiting extended periods of time to get a seat at a table brought me back to Tulalip.

You're not going to find any PLO8 in the Seattle area. It's only going to be LO8, best to go to Muck, Shoreline, or the new Palace in Tukwila.

Hurp, I'm just curious: Do you play somewhere with regular PLO8 action?

The thing about PLO8 is although it's a fun game and good for tournaments, conventional wisdom is that it is unsustainable for a regular live cash game. It combines the sustainability problems of LO8 (lower variance because strong low hands often save half-pots) and NLHE or PLO high (huge edge for skilled players).

But maybe your experience varies....

I've played PLO8 at Muckleshoot 2 years ago. Maybe Tulalip too.

checked Bravo over the past few days but seemed inconclusive.

if I want to play PLO (1-2-5, 2-2-5,5-5) where do I go, Tulalip or Muck? Which place does get the game to run more often?

Edit: regarding downsizing of Tulalip. From the times I've been there, absolutely makes sense. I went there on MLK weekend Sunday and they had 2 2-5games going and they were awful and one of them broke. no PLO going. I left after 1h. If you can't fill up the room on a Sunday when a lot of people have the coming Monday off, it really makes no sense to run a room that size. They also seem to have no good tournaments/series.

I heard Tulalip had a 5-5 PLO high game going this past Sunday night. Not sure if that's regular or not.

Is the 5/10/25 PLO game still a regular thing at Tulalip?
