yes a smaller rake
no promos or jackpots. but a % of net profits returned to players in pots.
high quality food
all service people trained to cater to players
dealers all taught how to deal. and required to follow procedures.
well lite parking and available security to walk to cars.
money boxes for all and or deposit ability.
check cashing and credit for players
free water, coffee, soft drinks all hours.
always specials for those that start games.
lower rake for shorthanded games
no charge atm's
clean bathrooms
lastly player input on things they desire to make the place better.

i hope existing places that are losing customers read this thread.

You really should run a poker room. If you can apply even just the first 3 items, I'll play.

you have to have winners in a poker room to start games and play during off hours. and its the winners that come in and start games for you. and should be rewarded with something at least.
and you need action players to provide fresh money. so they need a reason to come in.
and then a bunch of old rocks are important as they keep the games full so players dont quit and play few hands, so the good players can get in the pots with the action players.
everyone is happy.

You are going to revolutionize poker room operation! These are some great ideas! I am surprised that this is the first time I have heard of any of these...

its the idea of getting people to want to come in as opposed to the idea that they are coming anyway so get them for all you can.

i've only played 3 live poker sessions in a year. i used to play all the time. part of that is location. hideaway closing. Just heard a dealer scold a seasoned Omaha player (at a table full of them) for saying "no low" on the turn because it gives away the board texture.
absolutely miserable players.
i definitely pay attention to entry fees. your bigger tourneys need to rake smaller %. that's the incentive.
covid-19 and sports betting are not helping either.

Which is a fair point and exactly what Fortune is doing so well with as a business model. The

Has anyone tried the Smokey Point experience yet?

If we end up in a worst case scenario where only grocery stores (and whatever other essential businesses) are allowed to be open could our local poker rooms survive a month with no revenue? 2 months?

I think Fortune will be ok, given that it is a much smaller and presumably leaner operation.

Mavericks on the other hand might run into some issues depending on how their financing was structured. They could definitely run into cash flow problems.

Red dragon: Devoted table 1 to chip cleaning. Hot water in bathrooms. Overpriced mediocre (not bad) food. Had my personal best live poker nite ever Friday playing 1/3 plo. Winco across the street.

a poker table will be one of the worst places to be. so if you have underlying problems that can cause you to be in big trouble if you catch it then you must stay away.

new evidence also leads to possible 20% of lung damage from even healthy people.
a lot still has to be learned, so take your chances as you see fit.

I believe the opposite. Not a single poker room has closed down, and to be honest, if the bat flu took out the annoying old O8 players at RD no one would bat an eye.

Telling them to pay the 5 out of their pocket shuts them up very quickly. Same with dealers who think 6:5 blackjack is not a big deal.

Hi stop going to poker rooms jfc theres a global pandemic do your part.

In the 40s people did their part by dying facedown in a tiny pacific island or a beach in france. All you have to do today is skip a few sessions.
