Anybody from the Seattle area going to Lincoln City OR next week?

Thinking about attending the horse and omaha events. Should be fun?

FALL COAST CLASSIC TRIP REPORT

CHINOOK WINDS CASINO

LINCOLN CITY OREGON

Found out about the series from a 2+2 ad.

5 hour trip from Seattle leaving around noon. 4.5h coming back at night. Stayed Tues to Thur.

Portland highways need to be razed and the river paved over. So much traffic out of Tigard with horrible signal timing.

I didn't reserve a room as I wanted to see if the weather was good enough to camp at the nearby Devil's Lake campground.

Forecast was partly cloudy, but it ended up being two days of glorious sunshine. Night one I stayed at a place I can't recall at the moment. $70 plus $25 pet fee, booked on Expedia. I don't think it was listed on Google. Great room, 5 minutes from the casino.

Night two I camped. Was able to to setup my tent during the O8 dinner break. $21 a night, excellent free showers. It was foggy during the night and there was a fair amount of condensation on the tent, but I stayed dry. Like 3 minutes from Lee's.

Tournament and cash game experience was great. Went 0/3 in tournies. They didn't clean the poker tables, which had plenty of dust and gross hairs and crap. Free pepsi products.

Small casino. Played some ultimate texas holdem in the pit. Not too smokey.

The Chinese American restaurant, Lee's Asian, 11 mins from the casino was open until 10pm and fantastic. Ate there twice.

Across from Lee's is beach access with ample parking and great views.

Had the greasiest burger of my life at a shack called The Grubs On, 4.5 stars on Yelp.

Also went to Taco Bell and McRicks. Both were fine.

Town has all the amenities you could ask for. Would definitely go next year. Very nice beaches, untouched relic of a downtown from the 60s.

Cash games were 1/3 NL, 1/2 and 2/5 pot limit Big O hi/low.

Thank u for reading about my adventure!

Sesame Chicken & Kung Pao Chicken combo, $10.99. Felt like I got slightly more food eating in vs take out. High quality, basically better than anything I've had around Seattle recently.

Hit my 4th lifetime quads in hand at Red Dragon O8 for $200, 5555. Also hit quad K for $50 monte carlo.... Almost paid for the lincoln city trip!

My other 3 quad in hands were at Fortune, and all paid. Anybody not a member of the quads in hand bonus monte carlo club?

it used to be once a month and was 100-150 buyins, now they are doing it every 2 weeks and i only played that once on a holiday weekend and they got 88. Its a good structure for the buyin, kills me that they charge the rake on the re-entry tho

Heard the same rumor on Thursday. Supposedly the high hand bonuses are going through the roof in the next couple of weeks. May be them burning off the promotional rake prior to closing.

Damn, I hope that's not true. Closing in a month's time is pretty wild.

That would put Red Dragon Poker in Mountlake Terrace as the only real option north of Seattle I believe?

Makes sense to bring back Hideaway now.

15 tables shouldn’t be enough for the players in north end.

5/10/25 PLO with $500 cap, or just PLO in general with any cap.

It’s been done for forever. A very different game than a regular 5/10, but it is workable.

I hate our state's gaming commission... There are so many Tech Whales who aren't interested in playing 1/3 when they are pulling 200-400K a year. Who are we protecting with these max cap laws??? Seriously we legalize weed but we aren't grown up enough to gamble responsibly??

Sorry buddy, I always overlook the fact that most people cannot connect the dots.

If $300 cap is LOL for 5/10, just imagine playing 5/10/25 with $500 cap or 1/3 PLO with $300 cap. 5/10/25 is obviously a much much bigger game than 5/10. 1/3 PLO plays about the same as 5/10 when effective is over $1500, and it's pretty common in Dragon now.

5/10/25 with $500 cap was spread in Tulalip for over 5 years.

1/3 PLO with $300 cap is currently being spread in Dragon and has 5-7 games on weekend nights.

Both games were run with success, there is no reason why 5/10 $300 cap cannot do well.

There, is it easier to understand now?

Any chance Fortune gets $500 cap? Are there specific laws restricting them or could they be "granted" a $500 cap for this game?

A $300 cap may seem LOL, and it is compared to true NL. However, we can only compare it to $500 Cap SL since that's the only other option in WA. Also, everyone plays with the same rules within each game so its just a variation of the game that everyone will adjust to. The game will do well I think, but we'll see.

Biggest hurdle of increasing betting cap will probably come from tribal gaming.

But then again, table cap of 15 probably would not create any legitimate competition to tribal, so maybe there won't be much fight from them.

I would agree with you about "just a variation of the game" if the casinos aren't taking such large rake from the cash games. The spread game diminishes the skill edge making the game harder to beat with the rake. It just alot of medium size pots going back and forth being raked over and over again.

I recommend joining me in requesting the rule change. We need to speak up to get high stake games that may attract the local whales...

The Law is here: https://app.leg.wa.gov/WAC/default.aspx?cite=230-15-135

You can request a change here: https://www.wsgc.wa.gov/commission/request-rule-change

Would it be better to request a change of law or request a repeal of the law?

For you Red Dragon people, a couple of food tips:

The Fork Mediterranean Grill on 220th a block after you exit I5 going west serves a really great gyro + fries + soda combo for $10.99. They also offer all your standard gyro joint stuff. It is a quick service restaurant, no need to tip.

The steak and eggs combo, country fries, english muffin for $6 and change at Red Dragon is my vote for best hidden value. The country potatoes are deep fried, I think, for extra yumminess. I went with a side of ranch, sour cream would be great as well I think.

Steak was perfectly fine, better than Fortunes, which admittedly is a low bar as the last Fortune breakfast steak I had was so bad I successfully wiped it from my memory in disappointment until now.

depends on how many tables are running but it looks like you only might be getting 5 to ten bucks an hour to play.

In some ways the news about the Tulalip poker death is sad. But in another way it is encouraging. Poker is not what it was 10 years ago
