Inherited problem of getting action players to play in day games is that they need to work to sustain their horrible decisions.

Action players cannot afford to be action players if they skip work to play poker.

Fortune fills up all 15 tables on the weekends and last time I was there got filled up on a Thursday night. If they are capped out at peak times, it makes sense for them financially to raise the promo rake and transfer promo dollars from the action players who play in the evenings and weekends to the regs who are playing in the early afternoon on weekdays. Not that it's something that is good for the games, just that its something that's good for Fortune's bottom line.

Seattle is indeed full of HH chasing poker players.

Anywhere ya go is the same story tbh. Always chasing HH or bad beat. Next time you're at the table listen to how many comments are made to each dealer about dealing out a HH or bad beat. I couldn't deal because Id be sick of the same 3 comments a million times a day.

Lol, Im pretty sure I outlevel myself in my own head on AAx, KKx flops when As full or Ks full would qualify, about which opponents are willing to bet trips or not.

Personally Im still betting flopped sets of Aces a high % of the time.

Couple of typos in the new fortune menu. Mongolian is $2, phad thai $12. Other than that no changes!

Please reply if you were able to get a $2 Mongolian

I got quad 6666 in the O8 game yesterday, that was delightful. 2nd or 3rd quads in hand lifetime. Probably the only monte carlo where u surrender your cards preflop

It was a two day ban

That used to be a Monte Carlo at the Hideaway. Somehow it would get hit like every other day but I never understood how since the odds are 1-in-20,825.

Hi Seattle Area,

What's the rake structure at Fortune?

Been scouring through the last 50-100 pages wasting endless hours of my life reading about mostly nonsense. But good to see the seattle community active.

I'm a transplant from Boston so Foxwoods and Mohegan were my go-tos.
I don't play a ton but going to vegas next weekend so thought i might "dust off the rust" and prep myself for losing more money by checking out a place in seattle tomorrow - small stakes NLH.

Location wise I'm either thinking Fortune or Caribbean. Are there casuals at Fortune or Caribbean on a weekend night?

Actually, expanding the geographic scope how would you rate the Seattle casinos in terms of "casualness".

1. Fortune
2. Caribbean
3. Red Dragon
4. Muckleshoot

Any others in the 1hr driving distance from downtown that I am missing?

By casual, do you mean recreational?

For example, right now, after midnight, there are 9 NL games running at Fortune. Bound to be at least a couple casuals in the field.

Any of these are fine as casual. Add Tulalip to the list (north of Seattle). I'd recommend Fortune bc the food is the best and will have plenty of games going. Be sure to ask about house rules wherever you go and be aware of how the state laws change the games. There's not actually No Limit but Spread Limit instead which plays very similarly for small stakes. Good luck in Vegas.

Also if you go to Fortune make sure you get directions for Fortune Poker and not accidentally go to Fortune Casino (different locations).

If casualness implies friendliness, table chatters, and social interaction, then I would rate the list:

1. Caribbean
2. Red Dragon
3. Fortune
4. Tribals

Regarding the Caribbean, are we talking about the Kirkland location?

If so, its the loooongest drive, thru some of the worst traffic and easily 3rd or 4th regarding the criteria above.

*based on the 2x I went there

Has the hold'em scene in the Seattle area changed much since my last game of March 2018? Where is it heading?

Was a reg at the Tulalip (1/3 & 3/5 Holdem) and other establishments for about 10 years running with a couple of poker trips to Vegas yearly. Stopped playing as a result of:
a) Finally figuring out - I am not that good a player, just an ABC recreational
b) Hold'em was getting much tougher and I do not enjoy Omaha
c) Disliked the transition to high rake "Monte Carlo" promotional driven casinos. $7 bucks a hand is nuts for low-limit poker IMO.

Not sure if I will return but at the moment have zero desire to play.

Thanks.

It’s all relative, and it makes sense that those who enjoy Fortune will not find Caribbean sociable, or vice-versa.

Encountered a ridiculous dealer at the Caribbean tonight when I didn’t tip her on a $36 pot. At least at Fortune and Red Dragon the dealing staff are less likely to subtly pressure you.

She tried her best with the usual tactics (pushing the pot to me in hilariously exaggerative way then literally saying “Here’s the rest of it! And oh by the way what’s your name??” Then messing with the stub for 15 sec instead of moving on to the next hand. All standard I know but the Carribean just seems to have an excessively annoying tip culture. Made much worse by dealers not following and keeping the action in order, announcing wrong raise sizes players must speak out and correct etc.

I truly do respect every Carribean dealers’ excellent work to make the room’s culture highly social for rec players and will tip $1 in large pots (which still added up to multiple thousands I just gave away last year to people making far more than me annually). And I get they don’t realize this. This is an area card room management should coach dealers on reasonably.

It was atrocious at Snoqualmie with another dealer in particular as well too. Im not sure if names are allowed for rooms that no longer exist but I’d love nothing more than to call her out still to this day.

As someone who plays often enough at Caribbean, I am in full agreement. There is an unusual sense of entitlement from Caribbean dealers when it comes to tips, as if players owe it to them.

It has been that way since the old limit days. However, players often pressure each other to overtip in that room for whatever reason as well...

If there is one thing I dislike the most about Caribbean, it would be some of the entitled dealers. Some of them even act like they're too cool or too good to be speaking to you in a lower limit games, just because they also dealt bigger games. It's mind blowing.

I was there and have gone to Caribbean as a result. I forgot how much I hate the chairs, cards, and chips. The cards especially, I can't identify the suit of the second card with my normal squeeze.

As for the blonde dealer - I haven't seen her anywhere else since Sno days. Bygone be bygone.
Additionally, the thing with having the dealer who isn't dealing act as floor and cashier is terrible.
