Bad Beat hit again last night (Sunday) at Sands. Third time since the poker room opened. By the way as of 9 p.m. on Sunday there were open tables. Perhaps Musikfest is keeping some players away?

After spending a lot of time in the poker "room" this past week due to my vacation I really got to notice a few things.

#1 The floor does a pretty good job at making sure empty seats are filled in a timely fashion, I am sure most of that has to do with the Bravo system. Either way they fill the seats. Mount Airy seemed to be more concerned about the dealer tray then the empty seats at the table...I was wondering if this was because they were illegally selling chips to players out of the tray...different point sorry

#2 With the exception of less then a handful, the dealers have improved by 200% as far as quickness. There are however some issues I have...

Only about half of the dealers seem to have complete control of the game Meaning arguments at table that can't be settled, betting out of turn, table talk about hands in play, and my biggest problem...Not asking a new player to a limit game if they wish to post or wait for big blind. Several hands this past Friday had to be re-dealt due to a dealer giving the new player cards and not asking if they wanted to post but rather telling the player they had to post to which the player replied "No I Don't" which led to several misdeals because it wasn't until their second card that the dealer made the posting comment. In fact one player sits next to me, gets his cards and asks me why he didn't have to post. I didn't care if he posted or not so I just said I won't say anything if you don't. However the VERY next hand the dealer says to him, "Sir you have to post $3" which I didn't quite get, after all he was just dealt cards the hand before. I really wish they would just get rid of the posting to begin with it's more of a nuisance then anything.

#3 Drink service is pretty good. I was pretty much finishing a drink as my new drink was arriving, that to me is a plus! However if you order a drink right before a shift change it could be a problem. I did notice the really good waitresses take notice to who is drinking what and how often they need one. Just about every time I needed a drink the waitress had it on her tray for me. She ended up making some decent money.

#4 The floor, apparently can not change the channel on the TV's. Which I think is BS and it depends on how lazy the floor person is. I asked one guy to put on the baseball game and he said he couldn't change the channel, however the TV next to it was changed to the game and it was on the same channel as the one I was directly facing when i asked the question.

the only thing worse than the dealers are the players, filthy nits that fold for days, and passive tards that never fold.. i love that room

Yes. But it depends on the table you are at. Sands' tables are arranged in two rows of six with a seating area in the middle. Something like this

=== 0===

Despite it being designated a no smoking area smokers tend to congregate outside the rail just beyond the far right side of the poker area. The nearer you are to them the more you will notice the smoke.

People who are used to being around smoke may tell you "no," you don't smell the smoke. But if, like me, you are not used to being around cigarette smoke and may be sensitive to it, you will definitely notice it at Sands. I've played there three times. Twice the smoke was tolerable. Once I had to leave because I got a headache from it.

This is partially true.. from what I was told, the controls to the TV are currently not in the poker room (pretty lame..) but I think the floor can call the place that has the controls to change the station..

Just wanted to thank those who responded to my questions. After reading all of the comments, it seems this poker room has the most mixed reviews of any poker room ever. You can smell smoke but sometimes you can't. The players suck but are pretty good. The dealers are slow but quick enough. HAHA - can't wait to formulate my own opinion which I am sure will be completely different from all the rest.

The tables are way too close together. I was in the 3 and some dickhead from the other table kept backing his seat into me and the waitresses insist upon walking through those narrow gaps as well. It is annoying when you are in the middle of a hand and they beg you to move in.

First week they had the remote. Saturday the floor had to call someone else to change the channel, but it got changed. I think I got a headache from the smoke or the noise also on Saturday. The 2/5 game I played in players were generally bad. Wait lists were not as crazy on Saturday. I miss playing 5/10 though, so I think I will go to Borgata this Saturday if I go and play.

When I went, I was at a table to the far left (Table 12, I think) and I had no problems with smoke. I did not leave stinking like cigarettes, either. The room is definitely not as smoke-free as a room like the Borgata (which is totally separate from the casino floor), but I didn't find it to be a problem, and I hate cigarette smoke.

While I have never played at Mt. Airy, I have been there a few times. Mt. Airy is much smokier than the Sands, in general. At least the Sands has non-smoking portions of their main floor. I would imagine that the Mt. Airy room can be somewhat smoky, since people can smoke a few feet from the tables.

Thanks for posting this info, I appreciate it.

I don't understand the hate. Some people are sensitive to smoke. Making fun of those people makes about as much sense to me as making fun of people with food allergies.

Are there any members on here that work at the sands? I am going to the open house tomorrow night at North Hampton CC to check out what they are offereing as far as table games training goes. I have about 5 years of dealing experience in underground games, and not knocking the dealers at the sands, but i think faster and more efficient then half of them. Do you guys think it would be better for me to try and get a job in the poker room or out in the pits? I was there last night and I was talking to a pit boss while playing some Blackjack, she told me that I should try and get a job in the poker room. Not really sure who makes more money, if anyone is a dealer and give me some info on how much money you make a year, please PM me. Thanks

Not sure about the dealers at the Sands, but I do know from experience dealing in AC that poker dealers made much more than the table games dealers in general...particularly fast poker dealers (since they keep their own tokes..) I do know that the Sands poker dealers keep their own tokes, so if you are as good as you say you are, then you would probably want to go in poker.

They only sell whites and reds from the cage so I would guess these are the highest limits they'll spread. Pretty much just a 1/2 NL room or (roped off area) from what I'v seen so far.
