I do not understand why all the complaining about the Bethlehem Sands? As of 3 weeks ago there was no options of legal poker in the state of Pennsylvania. I will take some slow dealers, slow cocktail waitresses, no buying out of the racks over NOTHING at all.

I agree with ya 1000%. People love to bitch about everything. Why not just be happy that they're there and give them time to work out the kinks

Any word on if they are or have applied for more space, it would seem to me that they are a bit surprised by the poker turn out.

Are the rest of the table games equally busy?

Currently they have 2 major problems facing them right now....this is some inside info I got from a friend who is a dealer there.....most of the qualified dealers that they have right now are quitting due to the 70 plus hour work weeks because of under staffed they are.....the second issue is they are not allowed to expand the poker room until 6 months, at that time they will be audited and find out if this rush of people is due to the need for more tables or te fact that it is a new room and the fad will wear out of going to some place new.

If that's the case I would think people will be sick of having to wait hours on the weekends to get into a game before the "fad" wears out. It's amazing with how bad the job market is right now that casinos are having trouble staffing. I think if the state changes the, if you work in a casino you can't play anywhere in the state, it might help this a little bit.

I plan on getting there around 5 PM today. If anyone could post how long the 1/2 list is around 4:15, I'd appreciate it.

I've spent about half the weekend pokin' up and have been there 4 times since table games opened. I think overall the staff and dealers are doing a great job for the amount of hours they're working and the amount of people who want to play. I could see it being a totally ****ty/stressful job right now, but everyone seems to be keeping their cool.

I'd say there is certainly a training issue with dealers/desk person using the table display as a communication tool. If there is an open seat, the desk person should be able to call the list without double checking if the seat is in fact open. The dealers should be accountable for using that tool as it's meant to be used.

The buying chips/room size/slow dealers gripes will all work themselves out over time. Ideally, the poker room will be it's own area with it's own chip window. As far as more tables, I certainly think they could sustain a 20-25 table room after the storm dies down.

The sure do keep the AC pumping in that place.

Could you do the same when you get there? I am going to try to go there after work. I would like to know what the list is at around 6PM. Thanks!

I do agree with your open-seat-issue assessment, noticed this myself yesterday.

I'm going to PA Sands for the first time this Saturday, taking the bus from NYC. My bus ticket is $28, and I get $30 in slot play. I looked on the Sands website to see what slot games they offer, but I couldn't find any. Anyone with first-hand knowledge of this casino care to speculate on which machines will give me the fastest and highest payout of that $30? Thanks in advance!

For staffing issues...it's a bit time consuming to get new people started working. You can't even apply for a gaming license until you get a job offer, so even after you hire someone you are looking at about 2-4 weeks in a best case scenario as to when they can start.

Roulette machines do not work with the bus money, so I would guess either video blackjack or video poker.

If they use the avg wait list size to determine the use of the poker room than everyone needs to sign up under 3 names for a wait list.. that way it's inflated and will get the state to increase the poker "room" to 30 tables!

I noticed this on the Delaware Park Casino website. I can understand the poker room not wanting to divulge waitlist counts, but it's nice to know how many games and what type are currently spread.

I'm sure this info can auto populate from their software and automatically update the website.

Here's the Delaware Park link...simple, but useful information.
