After playing in this "room" every night for one solid week, I only have one thing to say:

TURN DOWN THE FREAKING AIR-CONDITIONING!! This is by far the absolute coldest casino I have ever played in. It's so frigid, it's uncomfortable to sit there for long periods of time.

Example: 40 players in the poker area, out of maybe 80 total patrons in the casino Tuesday night at 4:00am and I ask the room manager to turn down the air. They reply: we have no way to control the temperature of the entire casino.

Ok.

Other than that, dealers are getting a little better. Still there are some who think their job is to entertain, tell bad beat jackpot stories, etc. rather than keep up with the action.

But all-in-all, ok place to play. Player pool is, meh, but tons fishier than LA where I play, which is good.

Regarding the long lists (and the douche who posted earlier about jumping the line- good luck with that, I've seen them bust a few guys with that trick, but not sure how), I have one question:

What are they going to do when all the college kids come back from summer break?

We played 3 handed $3/6 Limit Omaha Hi early Tuesday morning for a few hours. Was lots of fun.

So I'm guessing if you can get there while they still have empty tables and ask them to start a list for an Omaha game they will. Then of course you would just have to hope that people coming to the poker area have an interest in Omaha.

Well, if they call someone with the initial DP and the name on your players card says John Smith, they might get suspicious.

It's not you. Remember Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton have alot more people then Mount Pocono, Scotrun, and Tobyhanna does, so yes the wait lists will be miles longer.

Not sure if this was answered but judging by the continuing questions it has not. Tournies at the Sands as well as most of if not ALL of PA casinos are at least 6 months away.

While I'm posting I really wish these $1/$2 and $2/$5 NL players would stop slowing up the $3/$6 limit games. What is it about NL that makes people completely forget how a structured game works? A little advice...Now that you know the $1/$2 wait is pretty long, if you choose to sit at a $3/$6 limit game, please read a rule book before you sit...THANK YOU!!!!

That is some bogus information. Tourneys are much closer than 6 months. More like a month or two tops at Mount Airy & PD. Not sure about Sands.

Ok.
You honestly expect them to adjust the temperature in a 200,000 sq ft. building because you're chilly? I've said it once, I'll say it again...poker players are funny.

I'm just going by what the dealer at Mount Airy told me on Saturday July 17th thats all. I remember him saying it will take 6 months to get approved by the state and it was disappointing news to him because he is a tournament player himself and dealing tournaments will be a lot tougher for him since he will miss being on our side of the felt.

Also I've talked to 4 of the "floor" people at the Sands and they have confirmed 6 months for tournies. Unless I was drunk upon hearing this information or if something has changed since this past Sunday then I apologize for "BOGUS" info. But I am pretty confident I heard what I am typing here.

Floor at Mount Airy has said several times that tourneys should begin in August unless things changed in the past 2 days. They also said the downstairs poker room expansion should be completed by Sept which I assume gives them the room and tables to host tourneys when the approval comes through.

As far as Sands I have not a clue. I'd imagine tourneys are quite a bit in the distance for them being that they first need a place to expand their poker area off of the main floor.

Ok like I said this 6 month thing came right from the dealer. So apparently the floor people don't communicate with their dealers or the dealers are trying to be heroes by giving people answers that aren't true. Either way I hope its within a month or two. Even though the sands is super close to my house I wouldn't mind the 40 minute drive to Mt. Airy for a tourney until the Sands gets their tournies going.

Truthfully, I don't think anyone really knows the real answer since it's in the States hands. I just know the state was working on the regulations right after table games opened so I can only assume it will be less than 6 months from now since they've been working on it for at least a month already.

Interested but can't make it over until Sunday morning. May start an interest list then if there are tables available.

How do you guys think the list will look around 1 today?

Just got here... surrounding area much more "urban" then MT airy (which I like)

18 on the list for 1/2. I guess ill just grab a bite and wait. Overall the casino is nicer then NT airy but the poker room really feels in the middle of nowhere

Think I'll be able to make it over tonight, could someone put "Joe T" on the list for me? Would be happy to return the favor when I'm there.

It's a large automobile, usually yellow, that drives people around for a time- and distance-based fee called a "fare."

But that's not important right now.

PS
I know pittpap has already covered the real answer to your question, but I just couldn't resist the slam-dunk Airplane setup.

Hi all. I'm thinking of heading over on Friday around 6pm. Anyone have a guess as to how long the list/wait time will be? How was it last friday? I have a venetian players card. Will that work or will I have to get another? Thanks for the responces in advance.

Friday at 6PM will probably be a list of around 70 people. Expect to wait around 3-3 1/2 hours. Last Friday at one point in the night the waitlist was 127 people for the 1/2 NL. I would try to get there around 1PM if you can. Anytime after 5PM, you will be waiting a long time. As far as the card, not sure what to tell you. Was playing there today and dealer said their card should comp you a buck an hour, but the system is still screwed up and it gives random amounts in comps for poker.

I think you have to sign up for one of their cards, I asked a dealer about the Venetian card and he didn't seem to even make the connection, or maybe he didn't hear me correctly, so I just went and had a card printed, I don't like asking the dealers too many questions, the new ones tend to stop dealing when they talk.

Well I'd say I had a good day. Lost a buck fifty over about 8 hours. Mostly on a couple hands I missplayed at the end. One guy at my table cashed for about a 600 profit in only a few hours. Saw Dave from the Boat who is now there. He's a pretty good guy and I'd say that there was more of a "professional" feel then Mt Airy had. The floor lady Faithe has a great accent.

Play was generally pretty crazy. I'm kinda mad at myself because I played solid for so long and then blew a good little bit trying to pick off loose maniacs. Shoulda just sat back more. oh well...

Can't say I wont go to Mt Airy again but I do like The Sands better.
