On a board of K833x its K3 vs 88. K3 insists they win despite five people explaining 88 makes a higher full house. They then exclaim "tthats not how it works online!"

Wow, that's a good one! It reminds me of a friend's 10 year old son who thought hands like kings over queens, beats aces over twos, I assume because in his mind 2 strong pair beats one strong/one weak pair or something, with a ten year old, it's cute, this however is not cute

Can anyone 100% clarify the comp rate for 1/2NL at Sands? Is it .50/hr or $1/hr and is it currently working and updating properly?

I think they said $1/hr, and I think they stiffed me $3.

I don't believe it's working out to be $1/hr right now. I was playing today next to someone who had played there 35 hours this week and he said he had $7 in comps. Not sure when they update your points though.

If you get up to smoke, use the bathroom, eat, or to walk around they'll put you in "lobby" status where you don't collect earned time. Quite cheap IMO.

The comps right now are a work in progress. They are coming in at 50 cents per hour right now. However we are working on this over the next few weeks to make this a higher number.

you'd have to start an interest list.. do you think they have dealers who know how to deal it?

I dont know if they would do PLO (gotta be able to count a pot bet) or Omaha hi/low (can they read the conterfeit?). Prob just limit Omaha I would guess to start..

Any idea of the wait-lists today? I'm trying to estimate how it might be tomorrow. I know tomorrow will be crazy, but I'm trying to figure out if it would be reasonable tomorrow if I get there early.

On a different note, I wouldn't count on any Omaha. With 12 tables that are full at most times of the day (so far), why would they spread Omaha?

You cannot guage how the waitlist will be on just the second wkd. Likely many from the 1st weekend will have been frustrated fro the long wait lists but I can imagine it will still get 70+ deep. Get there by 9am I think to get a seat w/o much wait.. by 11am it will be a while.

Of course, I am just curious if the wait-list tonight will approximate the one from opening night, last Sunday. If so, then I'd imagine that tomorrow will be even more crazy.

I agree with you, though. If I go, it will be early to avoid the wait.

Can anybody update the wait list (players or floor staff)?

If you call the main number and ask for the poker room the main number operators tell you they receive all the poker room calls, but when you ask for a wait list count they say that info isn't provided to them; sorry but not driving an hour unless I know how much time I'm going to have to kill.

I was just there, its was about ~60 deep for 1-2NL....that will usually run down in about 1.5 hrs.

Hey Guys

Whats the temperature like in the poker room? Is the AC going full blast so the room is usually cold? Or is it room temp?

Compare it too the temp at say the Borgata.

I imagine daveygravey is casino staff. If so I applaud you for being involved in this thread and keeping us updated. I haven't been able to visit the casino yet but there's a good chance I will stop by sometime in the next few weeks for some 2-5nl. From what I've read it seems you have 11 tables which is pretty minimal considering the relatively long waitlists I have been reading about. I suggest at least doubling the amount of tables ASAP to keep waitlists to a min and increase casino revenue. All in all, the place sounds alright and I look forward to meeting Davino and his crazy friends fromt he QQ888 hand.

Warning: tl;dr.

Made my first visit to the Sands on Friday, and it was one of the best nights I have ever had playing poker. After nearly a decade of playing fairly regularly in Atlantic City, I finally got my first piece of a bad beat jackpot at the Sands on Friday night. The BBJ hand was quad 10s over quad 2s. The quad 2s hand was worth a little over $9,200, the quad 10s was worth $4,600+ and my table share of the BBJ was $579.97.

Anyway, I was playing for about 45 minutes at a 3/6 LHE table Friday night when the BBJ hand happened. I had some garbage hand that I immediately folded. The flop came 10,10,2. I wasn't really paying much attention, since I was not in the hand. But I know there was a bet and a call of the flop. The turn brought another 2, and I still wasn't overly interested in the hand. The guy on my right leaned over and whispered, "That's an interesting board." I kinda shrugged him off, and didn't do much more than politely chuckle.

As soon as the turn card came out, two guys at the other end of the table began raising and reraising each other. I never really put anyone on quads, so I was almost certain they both had 10s fulls of 2s. The instant the player with quad 2s was all in and flipped over his hand, the young kid with quad 10s slammed them on the table and screamed, "I have four 10s." For a split second, it seemed like I was the only player at the table other than the two guys in the hand that realized it was a bad beat hand.

It took about two hours for us to get paid. Basically, the two hours were spent with everyone at the table mingling among themselves and replaying the hand to one another. The casino brought out a huge "Bad Beat Jackpot Pending" sign and placed it on the table while the floor manager verified the hand, watched the dealer count down the deck and checked the video of the hand to make sure it was legit.

Even though the BBJ pool was relatively small by BBJ standards, it was still super cool to be part of a BBJ. I can't even imagine what it must be like to be at a BBJ table when it is worth $200-300,000 like sometimes happens in Atlantic City.

The whole time we were sitting at the table waiting for everything to be verified, we had two old guys at the table bitching about how long it was taking. It seemed like the height of douchebaggery to be sitting at a table nursing a $50 stack, then complain that it was taking too long to collect a $580 share of a hand they weren't even in.

The dealer (Brandon) seemed super cool and genuinely grateful for whatever money the table tipped him. I had $66 in my stack and gave him my stack. Most of the table shares seemed to tip $40-60. I know both the winning and losing hands took care of the dealer, but I don't know for exactly how much. Brandon said several times that whatever money anyone tipped him from the BBJ was going into rebuilding his own poker roll. He said he is a $5/10 NLHE player in Atlantic City.

I was shocked when the guy with the four deuces returned to the table to play some more 3/6 LHE after winning nearly 10 grand. I told him he had to start playing real loose aggressive to give back $9,200 while playing 3/6 LHE. The player that hit the $9,200 offered to buy both the deck and the "Bad Beat Jackpot Pending" sign, but the floor manager declined the offer.

I played for about another 45 minutes, but I wasn't into the game. It was so much fun to be a part of a BBJ, even if it was a tiny one.
