In light of having a small bankroll of 500 bucks, I have to switch to 3-6 LHE. See you all there!

Do you know what the rake/blind structure is like for the NL games? Also, what are the limits they offer?

I believe they have games running anywhere from 200NL to 2000NL, however their 200NL game is actually a CAP game where a player can only lose up to $200 in a single hand. In addition, the button posts $1 and the minimum to play is $4.

Side note-From the couple of times I've played 200NL, I seriously compare this to 2NL or 5NL online. Just a lack of fundamentals in general.

So $1 on the button, $1 in the SB, $2 in the BB? $4 to limp from any postion?

Do you ever consider taking your $500 to the NL tables instead of grinding limit?

Havent been back in the cemetery capital of the world since 07.

But man I remember degening it up in the 2/3/5 10 dollar bring in 200 CAP betting (200 capped betting, so max bet is 200) back in the day... Played with the crappiest/cheapest, one step above those old red/white/blue house chips.

Wonder if any of the cute asian dealers/brush are still working there.

Yup.

As whether I've considered playing NL, I haven't considered it at all. Even if I think I have a crazy edge, I only have 2.5 buyins. I guess having 80 Big Bets in limit might not be that much different. But I've been thinking about trying out limit games such as O8 and Stud anyway. Would be kind of awesome to know how to play those games.

The variance in LHE means you have almost no chance with your 80 BB, unless you run hotter than the sun.

Sigh, I wish I could just play 25NL online.

Do not even mess with Lucky Chances, I have had shady stuff happen there and there are less outright terrible players, a lot of good but not great aggressive asian players...I have heard lots of people say bay 101 is the easiest and i kinda agree but i much prefer garden city and think if it is not as easy it is very very close with a much more homegamy fun feel to it....and there is no bring in straight 1-2-3 NL. The fact is people are not as dumb as they use to be...no more mindless shoves with top pair...usually 2-3 outright bad players per table. Bay 101 and Garden city are both better than Lucky's...

What kind of shady stuff have you experienced? If LC is closer than Bay 101 and GC, you still would avoid it?

TBH, I'd go play at the california grand. Just get a hotel near there for 3 days and spend 3 days grinding the 2/2/3 NL there. Here is my 2/2/3 hand of the week to show you what's standard.

New player UTG doesnt wait for the button to pass and raises it to 35 straight with Q9o. 3 callers. 140 in the pot and I wake up in the BB with KK. Jackpot. I ship all in for 385. UTG Calls off his last 165 with Q9 and another player who has me covered calls in MP2.
Spoiler:
MP2 had JT suited

The downside? Board ran out Q975A...

The upside? I won the side pot and was back to 370 for the next hand.

The east bay NL action is SOOOO loose, its unreal. $500 is 2.5 buyins, and if you play a low style variance ABC poker early on, you'll build that bankroll with little to no problem.

I used to play at LC for years and never saw or heard of anything really shady on a consistent basis. The people are certainly far nicer than commerce that's for sure.

You will get eaten alive with that bankroll and 3/6, while profitable the swings are huge and the rake + jackpot drop (5 + 1 I think???) will just crush you. You might be better off taking all of it and putting it into a single 3/5nl shot.

Seconding what steamypile said, the drop in 3/6 limit is going to kill you. Granted, the drop in 1/1/2 isn't much better, but you can fade it.

Pretty sure the 1/1/2 game changed from spread-limit to no-limit a while back, so the $200 betting cap has gone away. Don't know this with 100% certainty, but I've definitely seen bets exceeding $200. As pointed out, the structure of 1/1/2 is live $1 on the button, $1 SB and $2 BB with $4 being a "call" pre. You can also kill from any position outside of the button ($8 to go).

Played at LC a fair amount lately & haven't seen anything shady and feel the floor does a good job. As with any card room/casino, some dealers are better than others, but have never felt anything shady was going on.

I've only played at LC a couple times, but I can understand why people might be leery of the low limit NL games. There's a lot of everyone knows everyone else by name, including the dealers, check-downs after getting headsup, etc. I didn't see any outright collusion, but I wouldn't be surprised in the least if it's occurring.

Isnt all low NL like this? people not really taking it seriously, drinking, blowing off steam? Especially with a bay area casino's a lot more recreational players so wouldnt people really know each other?

I went to LC twice since black Friday, played Nl 1/1/2, game insanely loose.
Right before leaving my table, I had a "short" stack of 90$, open shoved in a killed pot after 2 limps with QQ, five callers... Be ready to experience tough swings with this kind of players. I lost 3 BI against pure donks, now gotta wait to get my FTP bankroll before going back there and prolly move up.
BTW I asked the desk about PLO (as I was a CG PLO grinder online) we can actually register for a 3/5 PLO that happens every Wednesdays but a lady told me in 15 years she has never seen a PLO game there. Would be nice to be able to play PLO there but i'm desperately alone on the PLO game board...

don't make threads advertising how soft your cardroom is.

bay 101 and garden city much better than lc.

I've been at LC less than 20 times, and while I've never seen collusion, I have seen people soft play each other. This one time these two dudes were really crazy when playing against other people, but when the two were the only ones in the pot, there was a noticeable lack of aggression. I felt kind of cheated, so after about 30 minutes of that, I just left the casino.

There has for sure been PLO there, multiple times in fact. Who was the lady at the desk? She has to know better.

It doesn't run too frequently, but it used to run on a weekly or semi-weekly basis a year or 2 years ago. I personally dumped like 2k into that game so for sure it existed!

The drop is NOT 3+1 in the 1/1/2NL game.
It's 4+1 and an additional +1 when the pot reaches 20 bucks, meaning almost every pot is raked for $6. Also, no chopping allowed.

I think the drop between the limit and NL games is different, no? Limit 3+1+1 (someone corrected me) and NL 4+1+1?

lol ok sorry to hear that

She's a white lady with too much make up in her fifties.
I mean I was kinda suspicious considering that she added at the end " I don't even know what PLO is"...

Anyways I'm not rolled yet for 3/5 until I get my ftp bankroll back. Especially for live Plo
