They've had series before, never have they had such a bad turnout.
There's a big message on Bravo about it. The only heavily promoted series I recall here are when there's a Guarantee involved with multiple flights which consisted of flyers at the podium and a sign near the poker room entrance.

Parx has a $500 high hand every 15 minutes today.

Sands has a $300 high hand every half hour.

One is maxed out to capacity with long waiting lists.

The other has 17 games going, including six small limit games.

Need I say more?

Is the poker room typically busier than usual on the evening before Thanksgiving?

Yes, virtually any night before a major holiday.

Question for Sands employees, For the hiring process what type of drug testing do they use, Saliva, urine or hair? Will a marijuana felony from 15yrs ago bar you from employment?

Games are running, the Bravo updates are down for some reason... They claim it will be back to updating soon. IDK, its been like this for a week now.

Since the Sands is being sold, any word on what, if any, impact this will have on the poker room? (Other than new chips and felt.)

There was a casino wide computer update a week or so ago that knocked out Bravo and it's still not back up. With the upcoming sale I don't know how eager they are to solve the problem anyway. Sucks not knowing how many games are running but you can always call the podium.

There's a big meeting on Wed but until then nobody knows anything. I would imagine they would have to close for at least a night to change out the chips, then finish other rebranding in stages while the casinos open.

This may have been asked before but 2-2 PLO has been very successful in a bunch of other rooms, is Sands allowed to spread this game? What is the buy in for 1-3, does it run regularly on the weekends?

They run 1/3 and occasionally 5/5 but 1/3 goes every day with must moves on fri/sat. Buy in is 500

I didn't realize sands started a survivor tournament every wednesday night and a regular $500 NL tournament the last friday of every month.

anyone know when both of these started, and any idea if they always go off (or do they get canceled because of not enough entrants)? how many entrants have there been the past few times?

Went here over the weekend, was hoping it'd be nice since it's about an hour from my house instead of two for AC.

We made one loop around the casino floor, walked in the poker room, and noped right out of here. The smoke level in the entire property was horrific, and the clientele was pretty dicey imo, seemed like lot of angry/unhappy people.

On the upside, poker room right inside the entrance, and we got a parking spot fairly close to the elevator at noon on a Saturday, so I mean, if you're just trying to grind 1/2 or 2/5, seems like you might have a game here. I just can't stand the smoke, and the air freshener the poker was blasting to try to cover it up made it even worse.

Bravo has been down for a few days now. Related to new ownership transition?

I am trying to picture something that would cause me to leave a casino without playing a hand after driving an hour and having an hour trip home. I can't think of anything.

If I ever did come up with that kind of a deal breaker, I would call the casino in advance with specific questions. Or ask in the thread here (I am pretty sure the room's proximity to smoke has been discussed).

I am also trying to imagine a veteran of Atlantic City complaining that "the clientele was pretty dicey imo, seemed like lot of angry/unhappy people."

I mean, I like going to AC and feel it has a bad rep, but that's still hilarious to me.

Yeah I had read this thread prior to going and knew going in it might be borderline for us, but figured I might try some blackjack or something. All the blackjack was $25 min, which is a bit higher than I want to play, and various other things kinda added up to the get out of dodge decision, no one thing did it really.

FWIW, WRT the drive, I lived in MA for a while before the casinos got approved, and so the closest cardroom to me was Mohegan at almost two hours drive, which is roughly where I'm at relative to AC. The framing I had in my mind going into it was that I was trying this place out for the chance to have a cardroom only ~1 hour away, instead of AC at almost two. Not having it be what I'd want was more of a shrug than anything.

Re: the dicey clientele, we walked in and I had mentioned to my fiance that they might have an ID control -- where we watched a ~60yo white man and his wife try to start an altercation with a group of about 8 ~30yo black people. We then took a big wander clockwise around the place -- checking out the blackjack conditions and restaurant menus, didn't find anything we wanted, but did see a lot more scowling/angry people. Also saw somebody intubated being rolled around -- don't think I've ever seen that before in a casino.

Finally ended up at the poker room. Since it was a Saturday around 1pm, when I discovered I was going to be third on the list and the games all looked solid, we walked outside the room to talk it over...next to two guys smoking. I didn't really feel like waiting to play a mediocre looking 1/2, and I mean at that point I viewed the wait time as an investment I could spend in getting partway back home.

I guess I feel like in AC, you get a wide variety of people, obviously some of the denizens are similar to the Sands crowd, but you have a mix of everybody -- the slot-grinders, the craps tables cheering, the dressed-up club- and restaurant-goers. This place felt like miasma and death. If it had been just me, I might have stuck it out just to discover the exact game conditions in the poker room and resolved to bring an orange next time a la Johnny Chan, but it wasn't just me. Also, it was a really nice day outside that day, so I suggested we buy margarita supplies on the ride home, and we were on our way.

So you thought on a Saturday afternoon there would be a $5 blackjack table? There actually are $5 tables with live dealers, in the stadium blackjack area. You bet on a screen which is dealt by live dealers in the middle of the pit.

LOL I've played here regularly for about 8 years, and almost every day for the past year, and I've never seen anything close to what you've described.

Sands is known for it's restaurant selection such as Emeril's Steak house, Emeril's Seafood Rest., Emeril's Burgers and More, an Italian restaurant from the cake boss guy, an upscale asian restaurant and plenty of snacks, burgers, dogs, salads and pizza in the food court but poor 'ol you didn't find anything to eat : ( I hope you stopped at a mcdonalds on the way home

I just returned to Sands on Saturday after a long absence. I live closer and it is much easier for me to go to Sands instead of AC (I live in Manhattan, bus goes straight to Sands instead of me having to transfer to an Uber to get to Borgata). The 5/10 NL game was much better than the nitfest the Borgata 5/10 NL game has become. If you think the food selection is bad in Sands, don't even set foot into Parx, you will drive away faster. I know there are smoke issues, but I personally did not detect any smoke when I was there, and I am sensitive to that. There are things I don't like about Sands, but I don't think it is awful. There are always going to be sketchy people in casinos, but a place like the Borgata will have less of them, and the attractive environment of a place like Borgata makes you forget that you are in a casino.

Going to Sands tomorrow for the first time in years. Does anyone know how early to wait in line on TransBridge lines from NYC? Does everyone get a seat?

I think you'll be fine either way, but I'd get there 30 mins early just to make sure.

The last two times on went on a Saturday morning/afternoon the bus was not full, but I would get there 30 minutes before just to be safe. The 1:45 AM bus going home is almost empty.
