Or maybe they just like 6-12.

They probably aren't looking for a "free" soda given Bay area gas prices and traffic.

Has anyone on here played at Pete's 881 Club in San Rafael? If so, what's it like?

I tried doing a search for it but couldn't find much on it. Do they run 2/5 NLHE nightly?

Thanks!

I'm going to be spending a lot of time in the Stockton area in the next couple of months. Can anyone recommend a good place to play 1/3 or 2/5. Have been to Jackson but has been a while and don't want to drive out there if I can help it.

Can anyone recommend a good card room.

TIA

Did you try putting "stockton poker rooms" into Google or Yelp?

I can't tell you which ones are good but there are plenty of billboards and signs on the freeways.

If you're going to be there for a whilejust try them all and pick your favorite.

Lodi and Manteca have small rooms. I find it worth the 1 hr drive up to Stones in Citrus Heights/Sacramento.

Found out that for the next few months during the week I will be living and working in the financial district of San Francisco. I won't be having a car and would like to avoid serious $ and time uber rides. Are there any "close" options? Ideal game would be NLH 1-3 to 5-10. Thanks.

Best choices are the Oaks Card Club in Emeryville and Lucky Chances in Colma.

Oaks: Take BART across the bay to MacArthur Station. From there you can either use a rideshare app like Lyft or Uber, or call the club (510-653-4456) and request a pickup by their shuttle. You could even walk; it's about ten minutes' walk down 40th Street to San Pablo Avenue, through a working-class residential neighborhood.

The Oaks spreads 1-1-2 (buy-in capped at $200) and 2-3-5 ($1000 cap) NLHE.

Lucky Chances: Take BART to Colma Station. Lucky Chances has a regular shuttle between the casino and Colma BART. Or, you could use a rideshare.

LC spreads 1-1-2 ($200 cap) and 3-5 ($1000 cap).

Hope this helps.

I thought LC spread a 5/10 NL game, regularly but infrequently (once a week?). Is that no longer the case?

Poker Atlas says that the 5-10 runs "rarely."

I haven't been to LC in a long time, so I wouldn't know myself.

AJs is raising the drop in the 3/6 and 6/12 games to $4 on 1/1/19. Barf. Jackpot drop, I guess, stays at $2, 1 of which is refunded if the pot doesn't reach $20. Mini-jackpot is now $20k instead of $10k and will be available 24/7 because the jackpot reserve is so high (although I guess it did hit a couple of times recently, naturally, because I can't really get down there around the holidays).

That's still probably the lowest in the Bay area.

Drop in the 6-12 st the Oaks is $4+$1.

I think that ends up working out the same for me given the average Bay Bridge toll in combination with the fact that I never win more than 4-6 pots/session.

The rake increase is even worse for the 20/40 and 1-2-2 NL games at Artichoke Joe’s. Jumped from $4+2(jackpot drop) to $6+2.

Even if you consider that you may get some of that $2 back, when you subtract out admin fees and the lower likelihood of hitting promotions at 20/40 compared to 3/6 & 6/12, I consider the jackpot drop equivalent to $1 rake at least.

Anyone know what the drop is now for the Bay 101 20/40 and up LHE games? Is it still $6 + $1 on the river?

Also, I heard that there’s now a $30/60 with half-kill? Can someone confirm?

The bridge toll functions more like a time charge than it does a fixed drop, because it doesn't add to the marginal cost of winning a pot the way a drop does. It shouldn't factor in your decision of whether or not to play a possibly marginal hand.

I regret to report Robert G Young aka Beer Man has passed away. He floored and played at various Bay Area cardrooms. He was also a staple of the Bay Area music scene, friendly to all and a class act. RIP you'll be missed!

Anyone have any suggestions for PLO in the Bay Area. Preferrably one that runs Friday night?

How is the action at California Grand Casino? What No Limit games run?

The Grand's action is very good, especially right after work and going overnight. The games all have three blinds with the button posting a blind. This leads to more players seeing the flop and more action in the games. The no limit games are 2-2-3 ($100-$300) and 2-3-5 ($300-$1000). Generally, there are more people to the flop in NL games than elsewhere, with a few calling and looking for their draw. The 6-12 and 15-30 also play really well.

$5 most games Omaha and 2-3-5 $6. No flop $1. Games are faster too.

Gotta get there early on the weekends. Their lists get insane 20+ people long. They are limited to the number of tables they can operate.

How safe is the area around Oaks Card Club? Is it mostly local regs playing? Traveling to East Bay area for the first time and heard some not-so-great things about Emeryville, so would like to check before going.
