There used to be a $50 chips for $20 coupon on the Web
Omaha limits are up to $6/$12 now.
They still won't run a 2nd game though.

Thanks. Any thoughts on how the NL games play or how late they run on weeknights?

2/2/3 plays like 1/2 - no flop full drop so there's only $2 in the pot to start.

Update - management at m8trix have refunded my buddy his money and told him to keep quiet about the incident. Not sure what happened to the dealer and his accomplice

confirmed for NL. i think it's like that across all game tho. as a result, most games went up 1 dollar in rake after the flop.

I did end up playing a long weeknight session at Cal Grand so here are my unsolicited thoughts on it.
Liked this room quite a lot other than the 10 handed tables, why does any place do this?
Good action at 6/12 and 2/2/3, got called down far too much when I had big hands. Lots of players knew each other but not a lot soft playing BS that I noticed. Cards and chips clean especially for a smaller room.
Seating system seemed to give floor staff a lot of anxiety, lots of walking around with hand written lists of names. Thought that was strange.
Overall good experience and would stop back if in the area.

From Menlo Park, are Oaks or Bay 101 accessible via public transit?

Oaks has a shuttle from the Macarthur BART station, but there's no good way to get to the BART from Menlo Park.

California Grand Update:

I just started playing Cal Grand and it has a juicy 223 NL game. No flop, $1drop.

Lots of regulars day and night, but it's hit and miss on how good they play. Lots of Fish play here in my opinion - changes daily.

I play mornings twice a week and the game is usually always going by 10am when I get there. By 12pm they have a feeder table up and running. Cal Grand also has Prop players to help get early morning game running....

The 235 NL game can run all night and not break - but this game is too much for me and I'm -EV playing it here. So I stick with 223NL. I notice 235 NL up and running by 11am daily.

Tables are filled with a mix of level 1 & 2 players...if you take your time and get to know how players play - you can avoid tough situations and take advantage of good opportunities....

I notice many players come into game with a couple of new concepts they read about and bluff off their chips or call you down with middle pair or TPTK without spending the time or even noticing that this is the first time in 40 minutes a tight player played a hand and is raising !!!

Some regulars just bully people aggressively and if you tighten up, you can take their whole stack by set mining...or eve two pair.

I like the $2 player breakfast or lunch, though some folks complain about the food being subpar, it's all right for me....I would not bring a date here, but you can't complain about a $2 lunch!

Free ice tea is a nice touch too in addition to hot tea and coffee.

almost forgot - I love the brand new chairs!!!!

Hi,

I will be relocating soon to SF and I have been starting to research a bit poker venues in the area. I usually play 2/5NL, which seems to be spread everywhere. Just a couple of questions:
- are there any venues where tables are 9-handed and not 10-handed?
- according to my criteria, it seems the best poker rooms in the area are M8trix and Graton. However, I am a little concerned when I look at the wait times. What would be your average wait time for instance on a Saturday or Sunday at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm?

Thanks for the answers.

Meh, on average your wait times are shorter on weekends than weekdays. True for M8trix anyway. The only times I've been to Graton, there are waits but for a different reason - they hardly have any games going.

Cardrooms rarely involve the legal process because it involves too much intervening by the government in cardroom operations. It's also just bad PR.

So you're saying that Cal Grand decided not to report this crime?

No. I'm saying that in my experience, cardamoms don't pursue these crimes. That has been the case in Sacramento for years.
