Conference is downtown at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero ... which is pricey. My funding support for the trip is a little limited so I'm trying to cut costs where I can. A cheaper hotel with easy BART access would be perfect, although it looks like I'll need a quick cab ride between the hotel and the train anyway.

Bump.

Can anyone tell me if any of these have a decent setup for tv viewing?

Oaks has a million TVs around the room. Graton has at least a few. None of the views are designed for TV watching, they want you to gamble.

Oaks has a bar where the TV watcing is good.

It's a really long commute from any cardroom to SF downtown. You're going to be adding 45 min each way. If money is more valuable to you than time, you can probably just use one of those searh engines (Expedia, Priceline, etc.). South San Francisco and Emeryville have decent cheap options. In the city will be expensivr (e.g., downtown) or unsafe (e.g., Tenderloin).

AJs in San Bruno is for limit----- heir food is good. Their 1/1/2 NL game is great but it often doesn't run and you have to get lucky to get a seat. Either no one is play or suddenly it's full. So you either lose 2-3 hours waiting for a new table, which might not even happen, or you wait for 2-3 hours to get a seat. At most they have 3 tables of NL. Usually it's 1-2. Limit there is no problem getting a table and the players are soft.

Oaks in Emeryville------ soft NL, soft Limit, lots of tables. Lowest drop @ 4+1.

LCs---- more a NL room but it has Limit. Plays are better than Oaks but they still are bad. Lots of shorties @ the 1/1/2. Best time to play NL is to play @ night especially fri/sat/sunday. 2/5 is good at night. if you play NL table jump to get tables with large stacks. Don't play at a table with a bunch of shorties or your head will explode.

I don't know much about the other casinos except what I head.

Bay101 has crazier players in NL than Lucky Chances

The Palace in Haywood has deep stacks and effectively the best drop which is pay for time.

Are $100 white chips standard in the bay area?

Do note some 1/2 or 1/1/2 NL games are 4 to limp. Oaks is 2 to limp. LC is 4 to limp. Don't know the others.

White chip fun tix standard in California, I believe.

Say what?
There is a BART station entrance roughly ten seconds' walk from the hotel.

Not staying in the hotel where the conference is due to costs, I meant I'll need a cab ride on the *other* end of the trip. I don't see a station with a hotel attached farther south.

I'm a 2/5 - 5/5 NL player and will be travelling through the Bay area in about 3 weeks.

Do any of the casinos have hotels and offer any poker rates like in Vegas? Where is best, and who should I contact?

You should start by limiting your search to casinos that actually have 2/5 or 5/5 (not many if any). 2/3/5 and 5/10 and spread limit are more popular.

No casinos/cardrooms with hotels.

I checked the spreadsheet and the link was broken so don't yell at me, but is there any 5/10 at all in the Bay Area? Or is 10/25 the only next step from 2/3/5?

Bay 101 has one that people say goes daily but which I've never seen.

Lucky Chances has one that goes once a week or something like that.

Uh...reverse that.

Lucky Chances 5/10 goes pretty much every day. 2-3 tables on busy days.

Bay 101 plays more like 10/20 as it is 5/5/10 with a forced open of 20, uncapped buy in. My understanding is that this game does not go on a regular basis.

5 tables MAXIMUM, not minimum. The website had a typo.

The morning tourney at the Graton is a crapshoot with fast-rising blinds.

Structure

50 100 0
100 200 0
200 400 0
300 600 25
400 800 50
(break)
600 1200 100
etc.

Hope poker is not the driving force, because there's pretty much no poker in Marin or SF.

To the loser 3/5 players at Lucky Chances...

You are all bums and even more so for asking for me to be picked up after a whole 20 minutes after playing for 6 hours. Literally did not cause any problems and kept action moving quickly, but at least you are aware that you are terrible to ask for me to get picked up that soon.

I literally played 6 hours, across 3 tables, and did not encounter *one* player who could possibly be classified as winning. It's great. I also got free strategy lessons!

Also, the 5/10 players, for the most part, are short stacking clowns. Sometimes it blows my mind how soft the games are in NorCal. It's pretty amazing how terrible everyone is compared to the East Coast. The best 5/10 players in Bay Area wouldn't come near profitability in almost any 5/10+ game on East Coast.

Mainly just frustrated at terrible floor people and the losers at Lucky Chances. Whatever, will continue keeping to myself as I would rather not associate with the miserable low lives.

Imagine if SF had an actual good, well run poker room. One day maybe.

Snap picked up after no more than 20 minutes after playing 6 hours. Hilarious. Good job floors!

I won. I had returned from my 20 minutes away and was going to continue playing when I saw I was picked up so I told the floor it was ridiculous (they likely catered to the losing degen regs) and left.

You really have to wipe the desperation and slime off you when you leave Lucky Chances.
