Do any bay area card rooms offer player's boxes/safes?

The 101 in Petaluma does as well.

Hmm, I'm near Fairfield and am thinking of making a stop to 1 of the following:
Bay 101
Oaks
Lucky chances

I've been to Napa plenty of times but that game runs more like a 3/5 which I'm more of a 1/2, 2/3 player. Napa also has very little tables so the wait is crazy. Oaks seems to have a lot of reviews of good but sketchy. I hear Bay 101 and Lucky Chances are both good card rooms. Which is the better of the two in your opinion and why? (I don't wanna pay the toll bridge but if it is worth it for Lucky, I'll give it a shot)

So I'm completely unfamiliar with the area but I may be in Rohnert Park for a weekend sometime soon. I've checked out the spreadsheet which seemed useful if I had a better idea of what is where. What's the closest reasonably sized card room to Rohnert? Looks like its a fair bit north of the area, but I'd like to be able to play some poker. Non absurdly crapshoot tournaments or 1-2ish NL. Also interested in playing some O8. I suppose if there's a tournament series coming soon I could arrange my plans around that.

It is possible I could stay closer to the bay area, but I wasn't really planning on renting a car. Anything helpful would be cool.

101 Casino is your best bet; it's a short drive south from Rohnert Park. Napa isn't too far neither. There's also Peet's 881 Club in San Rafael that's not open 24/7 that also spreads card games in addition to other things.

Bay101 and Garden City for sure. Oaks and Cal Grand use a player's bank system. Unsure about others.

1. Oaks is no sketchier than LC, CG, or AJs. The big difference is that the degens who lurk are black rather than white or yellow.

2. You're concerned about $4-5 bridge toll butbnot the fact that Bay101 is like 30 miles further? Each mile you drive costs ~$1 in terms of wear and tear plus time / opportunity cost of not playing.

3. Oaks and Bay101 have games where it's $2 to limp, LC is $4 to limp. The games play differently, so favor the one you like better.

4. Consider Cal Grand. It may even be closer to you than Oaks and it's a good room. 2-2-3 and 2-3-5 NL goes frequently.

I would assume they don't go at all unless you hear a recent & reliable report otherwise. They used to run a lot more than they do now. If it doea run, it may be prescheduled.

I'm not there regularly, but I would venture to say that 5/10 goes most nights, although not 24/7 for sure. I believe 10/20 goes Fri or Sat nights with a pre-signup list available during the week.

*shrug*

I rarely go there, but when I do, none of the games people say run are ever actually running. Just wanted to warn others.

These days, the 5/10 goes most days at LC and the Friday 10/20 is either not going at all, or sputtering out in the afternoon after just a couple of hours. Effectively, the 10/20 has moved down to M8trix, where it is manifesting as 2 or 3 tables of 10/25. They are now attempting to run it not just on Friday, but also on Wednesday.

Not going to rent a car?? How the heck are you getting to Rohnert Park? It's not near anything.

Believe it or not, public transit isn't only for brown people in urban cities.

I plan to fly into Mineta-SJ Int'l in a month or so and will stay for a long weekend. The sole purpose of the trip is to play limit poker in the 8-16 to 20-40 range. My favorite is 15-30 and Full kills are fine.

The threads in this forum are very helpful as was the spreadsheet but I fear some of them are out of date. The lists that I have seen are also very helpful but things change so quickly that your input will be the most valuable.

Suggestions on where to play limit (other than Bay 101), do the games really spread regularly and, if so, what time or are they 24-7? I have heard that Lucky Chances and Bay 101 are the 2 best but many of the threads indicate that this may not be currently correct. I want to go to no more than 4 rooms but if there are a number in the same vicinity this number could go up.

I just want to have a little fun while I give lots of you folks a little of my money. Thanks for your help

If the sole purpose of your visit really is to play mid-stakes limit hold'em, my advice is to change your plane reservation to fly into LAX or Long Beach and play at Commerce.

Failing that, Bay 101 is going to be most convenient for you; they have 8/16 with a half-kill and 20-40 going 24/7, and 40-80 most of the time. Casino M8trix has opened not far away from Bay 101, but doesn't seem to be a great choice for poker (although check it out if you have a jones for pai gow).

Further afield, Artichoke Joe's, in San Bruno (on the peninsula, a few miles south of San Francisco), offers 15-30; the game is rumored to be a hotbed of collusion. The Oaks Club, in Emeryville (in the East Bay, nestled between Oakland and Berkeley) offers 15-30 and 30-60. In Pacheco, on the far side of the East Bay hills, is the California Grand; they offer a 15-30 game that really rocks, despite a punitive rake ($5 dropped whether or not there is a flop).

Cal Grand no flop full drop rule doesn't cost that much because there's almost always a flop.

going to be moving to emeryville area in a few weeks and very excited about the numerous rooms available in the vicinity. the spreadsheet is extremely helpful, but i also wonder about how updated it is. i am very interested in where omaha hi lo still runs in the whole area. i heard there's 4-8 and 6-12 at oaks occasionally?

would really love to find / start a 10-20 omaha 8 game

Check Bay101 and M8trix. I hear there's a 20/40 O8 that goes regularly at m8trix.

there is no 10-20 o8 game that goes currently in the bay area, go to LA or vegas for 10-20o8 and higher limit games

I dont recommend The Oaks, its f*cken sketchy. I feel like I need to roll with a .38 cal. to feel safe in the parking lot/surrounding areas at night, the address says Emeryville, CA but its basically Oakland...If you go during the day time its probably better? Also they closed that room within the last year because of rampant organized crime within the establishment (as well as Artichoke Joes in San Bruno across the bay south of S.F., so theres that as a con as to not go there.)

Any of the the Big 3 (Lucky Chances, Oaks, and Bay101) are within an hour drive of each other. LC and Oaks are a bit closer to each other. So you have to figure in drive times, gas money, games that are spread as factors of where you want to play and how far the rooms are from the city you will be staying in. M8trix is like 3 blocks from Bay so theres that, and it is a new cardroom. Not the greatest games and the staff isnt that great but it is brand new and worth a look see.

Have fun and GL!
