Im not sure if you consider 8-16 mid or low,
Was referring to their 20 and 40 games. They really have dropped off a lot. You are correct, they have no problem opening up new nl games cuz that is pretty much what most of the players want to play. Precisely why I am playing both games now instead of just LHE.

can anyone confirm the format changes to the NL games at oceans 11?

5/5nl = $300 - $1500
10/10nl = $600 - no max

how have the new buy ins affected the games?

PLO runs tonight, starting about 5pm (or earlier) at oceans 11.

buy in has changed: is now $100 - 400....blinds are still $2/2.

Table was pretty soft...effective stacks of around $400-600, though one guy did have ~2k.

I ended up about $300 but it was a good time. I feel a lot more comfortable in that game with ~400 starting stack.
Shoot me a PM or something next time your going... I'm there a decent amount. Would be awesome to bump into eachother. Always down to chat poker and stuff with other semi serious players.

What you mena by the jump to the palomar is a bit large for most?

I find teh statement somewhat confusing...........

I was recently on holiday in SD (around mid to late march if any of you remembe rthe british guy playing 2-3) and i thought it was quite a soft game Sat down with $80 i think and cashed around $300.

Are you telling be their are easier games than this in the area?

BTW my gf live over there and I want to emmigrate

bump for the plo game. i played in the plo game at oceans 11 last night til the game broke about 2am (then played in a juicy short handed 8-16 lhe game til 5am!)

there were a few new players and a lot of familiar faces as well. the game seems to be gaining popularity on wednesday evenings, so let me know if you'd like to get on the google groups email list.

reminder that the game is $2/2 blinds with a frequent straddle. $100 - $400 buy in.

thanks to the floor, lonnie, for his support on sparking interest and getting the game running.

Hi...i'm kinda new to 2+2, live in Ramona. Just started playing at Barona (it's 15 minutes from my place).

Anyway, i was going to head up to Pechanga tomorrow to try to catch some fish who are there for the Microbrew festival (i couldn't get tickets ). Seems like the softest games around here are when the "tourists" come out to the casinos for some event or another, which is fine by me.

Also, i haven't seen anyone talking about Pala, but i stopped by about 2 weeks ago on a concert night and just played some 1/2NL, and it was pretty soft. bought in with $100 and left a couple hours later up $300. Not sure if this was a function of it being a new poker room, a concert night (the casino was PACKED) or a little of both. Have no clue who the concert was, but apparently it was someone popular, heh.

Anyway, the poker room is decent, gets a bit loud and a little smoky since it's only separated from the main floor by a half wall w/ glass. I put my name on the board, they took my phone # and texted me when my seat was available. Had about a 45 minute wait, just spent it hanging with a friend who deals blackjack there. Dealers all seemed professional, and there were already a couple of regulars at the table, but only one who seemed to have a clue.

From a quick glance at the board, they had several levels of NL and LHE going, and there were also a couple of PLO tables going that night, which was nice to see.

That evening also produced one of my most memorable hands of live poker, where i stacked two guys in one hand with quad Qs and got called a c*nt for it

Anyone else been to Pala on a "normal" night?

I'll stop by tomorrow night to see if it's running. i want to say there was definitely a 4/8 PLO game going, not sure of the other ones.

I'll post tomorrow.

i doubt the blinds are 4-8 in a plo game.....maybe hi-lo.

eh, you're probably right and i'm sure i'm wrong, i honestly wasn't paying all that much attention. I'm not an omaha player, I wish i had noted more of what was really going on. Deciding to play was kind of a spur of the moment thing that day, anyway.

I do plan to stop by there tomorrow night on my way back from Pechanga, so i'll definitely have more info.

Pechanga was meh. Only notable thing was the table i sat down at had a 94-year old man playing who was telling stories about playing in Vegas with Tom McEvoy and some other names back in the day when he could hand his wife $5 worth of nickels for the slots and that would give him several hours at the tables in the Horseshoe. It was kinda neat in a nostalgic sort of way.

Anyway, Pala will run a 3/6 and/or a 48 omaha Hi-Lo game if there is enough interest.

I didn't play, but i asked some questions at the counter. The dealers at Pala all came from other local places, so they have experience and seem to know the local market pretty well. They also seem very friendly, i noticed most of the tables were decently animated with people talking, laughing, etc.

And of all the things to happen while i was there wandering around, one of the tables hit the bad beat jackpot. Figures.

Folks,

Went to Pala and Pauma this week first times ever. Also note the Golden Acorn no longer has poker.

Pala has about 15 tables. Nice layout, very nice new tables, and very very nice new chairs (except no wheels). The staff was super friendly. I was on crutches and they went out of their way to help out. There is one gaping flaw in the "room" however...

It is not a room, but a partitioned area of the casino floor. That means completely open to the bing-bing-ding song of the slot machines, and the smoke of the degens who play them. I was there mid-day, mid-week, and with the casino busy but not crowded there was no smoke problem. So, I got to figure they at least got a good air circulation system. Also, half the seats face the casino, which means no TV.

They had one $1/2, 100 max no-limit table, and one $3/6 kill limit table going. They were dropping $5 max ($1 from big blind on deal, $3 flop, $1 on pots $30 over, I think).

In the meaningless short sample time I played there, one hour, my fellow players were nice and friendly, way to chatty for my taste, and the most clueless players I've seen in quite a while. Turned $100 to $200 while completely card dead, and almost considered that a "loss".

Pauma has five tables, but didn't have any games going at all before their 7pm tourney. I donked out first level with set under set (dude hits his quad A's on turn, game over). Floor said don't expect any cash games for an hour so ... off we went.

Pauma gives up $10 slot or table play and a carry bag for joining their players club. Pala gives you nothing. Both have cocktails, Pala has a hotel. Didn't eat at either, but assume they both have table side service.

Now I just need to get out to Santa Ysabel.......

I just came across this thread and think it would be pretty cool if we could arrange a S.D. 2+2 meet and greet, maybe at a restaurant or a bar or something. Anyone know if this has been done in the past? PM me if you have any interest.

My friend and I are Ocean 11's regular 5/5 players. We also play PLO at oceans when they have it. If there is a San Diego 2 plus 2 group we would love to go.
