But it sure is a helluva smaller fee than to pay for gas and drive to a comparable tournament in L.A...

Definitely up for it. I only typically make it up there tues/ fri
Unfortunately have heard the same about limited games from the PLO guys.
They used to get 75/150 LHE a number of years ago, according to a 40 player I've talked to, but management decided the more NLH, the better.
Has apparently been quite the struggle to even get PLO

Also, you might try talking to a guy named Chris Gregg
He is a tall, 40ish guy with bleached hair. He is the go between the players and management as far as PLO has gone.
If you can make it on a Tuesday/Friday during PLO
He may be able to offer some advice.

I know the Pala big tournaments, including the Pala Open, usually get quite a few people from L.A driving down here. I'm guessing they consider it easy pickings compared to the higher skill levels of the players at Commerce and the Bike.

For your other question, personally I prefer Viejas over Sycuan. I think Viejas is generally better for tournaments, but Sycuan is better for cash games..just my opinion..
I don't see where the 20k chips and +$40 are coming from. According to their calendars its $120 30-min levels. Have they changed this or is it another tourney you're talking about?

I'm gonna be there tomorrow for PLO so feel free to introduce yourself and we can talk to Chris.

A lot of 20 players today were enthusiastic about HORSE'ish games. There are so many empty tables, if we build it they will come etc etc hehe

I really enjoy ocean's11, the commute didn't even own me on the way back downtown.

Ehhh I dont like planes lately for some reason *sad trombone noise*

------------

Someone told me this evening that cardrooms have to pay a 1time fee to get a license for a particular game, so I guess if a license is expensive then a cardroom doesn't have a lot of incentive to make the splash.

This explains why Ocean's11 only has NL/o8/LHE/PLO...and also explains how we are able to get smaller mixes going at Palomar without hitches, and how smaller mixes aren't an issue in Vegas and A.C... because they already have licenses thanks to big mixgames going.

The 40 game broke early the last two Fridays. I'm going to go one more time tonight and see if it still runs. If 40 can't be sustained on Fridays then I'll try the PLO 5-5, but probably will just drive straight to Commerce in future weeks instead.

At least I know what Clayton looks like now. Clayton - I'm the guy that lobbied for months to get Oceans to spread 2-7 and after they did it once it was never again - they say they don't have the license to spread draw games (I think they also don't have license for stud-format games either). Seat 2 or 3 or whatever it was in the 20s game on Thursday when you were Seat 9.

Brown Keeper - still don't know which regular you are, do you leave real early or something?

Are you in the eight seat?
I'm still waiting to get in a game.

Yeah that was me. The list didn't move for 5-6 hours. I was tempted to go to 5-5 PLO when it started but was stuck too much to make the move. At least yesterday restored confidence that the 40s at Oceans isn't completely dead.

The 40 goes every Friday from 3/4ish on through the night.
4/8 and 8/16 are rather non stop I believe.
Can also play overs in the two bigger games, but not too many players are willing to.
Can check out the PokerPA app, I have find it accurate to this point. Look forward to playing with you.
The 40 game is a strange beast. Lately it has been starting very early on Fridays, sometimes as early as 9am and then going into the wee hours of the night, or sometimes breaking early.

I played yesterday, started the game, and broke the game as well approximately 18 hours later.

Most of the night the other overs was Mike (Seat 2) and Ramsey (Seat 5) and when Wayne moved over from the 20 game he took one too.

It took until 4 am but I did catch a hot run when it got short and escaped a small winner. Phew .

Yeah, he won thanks to me, and him getting AA > KK > QQ, twice in a 5-handed game within in an hour, and me having KK and driving the action on both jack high boards.

Joy.

Just an etiquette note, I don't think it's proper form to necessarily name people by name on public forums unless they are comfortable with it and have consented to it in advance, or are otherwise famous "public" name people.

There are lots of lurkers, very likely some of the people you have just named, and they might not want to be called out like that. There's still the issue of privacy and all.

Just my 2cents.

Man you're such a beast I thought I got there early enough too (Brown - I got there at 4 pm and got one of the last two open seats or maybe it was just empty at the time)

That's what happens when you are on vacation, and the wife gives you a day pass.

i should know BK and wacky by face now at least, i was in the 20 game with gavin for hours and hours yesterday. white kid, glasses, brown padres hat. doesnt know how to stack slippery red chips.

neither PLO game was especially great, so you guys did well to stay in the 40. I hope the half and half on tuesday is different. it was weird, they stuck the 2/5 in the prime table spot in the front of the room and they put the 5/5 in the far back corner behind the 8/16 games. As a result, the 5/5 was 6handed for the entirety of its 4 hour existence.

It sucks that the mix is gonna be hard to instill at oceans, but I will continue to try and get Palomar 20/40 mix to get off the ground, so if you guys get a mixgame fancy on sundays then just call palomar and see if the game is running.. it usually starts at 1 or 2pm.

I share the same view but have found that this view has become more of a minority view on 2p2 these days. I guess I'm a bit looser on this and just don't talk about anyone's specific game on a forum but as you can see with names my name is on my handle

That said point def taken and will be more careful. And yeah - sick coolers at the end and just grateful to be on the benefiting end this time around.

there are few in the oceans 11 management crew who are champions for the plo cause. the game seems to be an after thought to most of them, and it has taken a continuous effort from the players to keep things going over the years. including stupid little things like getting a table with a shuffle machine.
