Do any of you regs at Palomar keep a player's bank there (before and/or after the recent news of a possible shut down)? I don't play there often, but when I do I'd prefer to have money there waiting for me so I don't have to carry in or out. ...but I'm hesitant to trust Palomar with my $ even in good times, let alone now.

I think you're thinking of me, I was at 5/10 today. For some reason as soon as Cosmo sat down I started playing like **** which culminated in me shipping a sd on a fd board against jeff's aa. too bad i couldn't walk away from a good game...

Nah I only play 2/3 at Palomar.

I guess good thing I'm not rolled for the mix, I only know how to play half those games and would probably be donating to some of you.

Was at Viejas last night and saw their April Tournament Calendar.

Great news, the formerly $65 Friday night Deepstack Tournament has now been upped to a $120 buy in for the entire month of April. Last time they ran a $120 Deepstack, the prize pool was over $10,000.

Fridays at 6:15 at Viejas every week in April. $10,000 in tournament chips, 30 minute levels.

One thing though, they added antes in the middle rounds, to make it go a little faster. Prior to antes, the tournaments were ending past 1 am..now they are ending by midnight..

I asked Palomar management and they described it as it was completely safe because they are never allowed to touch players money and its insured by California gaming commission or something like that.

I would go to Palomar if you just wanted to play 2/3. The weekdays seem pretty good there.

Anyone have any idea what the deal is with Pala running 1/3 75-300 buy-in games along with 1-2 40-200 still? Saw this on the Bravo Poker App and was jw.

I think it's just an attempt to get a bigger game going. A lot of the 1/2 crowd are tourists who buy in for $100 or less. I don't get out there as often as in the past, but for the past few weekends, the 2/3 ($500 max) or 2/5 ($1500 max) games have not played.

Pechanga has the strangest 1/2 I have ever seen.

$40 minimum AND maximum buy-in..has anyone ever seen that before?

The 1/3 at Pechanga has some pretty good action, tho.

Last week at Viejas, I noticed the 1/2 there has a $20 minimum buy-in..can't say I've ever seen a buy in that low for 1/2 no limit..seems like trouble waiting to happen..

The 1/2 $40 min/max is typical LA buy in. Commerce, Hawaiian Gardens, etc. all have this game. HG even has a 1/1 $20 min/max game. The Bike's 1/2 NL is $40 min/$60 max. Whether it's good for us as players is not the issue - if it *wasn't* good for the casinos they wouldn't do it.

Some of the other crazy buyin structures at Commerce and HG are: $2/3 $100 min/max, 3/5 $200 min/max. Now you know why I drive to North County.

I was early for my tournament last week, so I played 1/2 at Viejas. They only had 2 tables going..a 1/2 NL and a 3/6L.

The 1/2 Buy in was 20-200 buy in. It seemed that half bought in for the minimum and half bought in for the maximum.

Very strange dynamic to the game. I rarely play cash, so I don't really know the nuances that well. The ones that bought in for $20 were just waiting for good situations to go all-in, and double up. If not they rebought again for the minimum.

It really wasn't like "playing poker" at all..more like a glorified coin flip game..

More like Bingo actually. When you think about what you can do with 10 or 20BBs in a cash game, you really can't make any moves. I think that's part of the problem with the Pala 1/2 game as well - too many buy in for minimum. The worst part for the deeper stacks is it completely removes any implied odds from the equation - so no set mining, suited A's, SCs etc. against the short stacks. This is even more pronounced in the 1/2 $40 max games. No one is ever deep enough to profitably do anything other than wait for a top 5% hand. Makes for a pretty boring evening.
