Gonna head out here on monday and check it out, Is the tournery structure even half way decent? Also , how are the cash games? Whats the biggest game going?

the structure is actually really great. played flight 1a of the 355 yesterday and we played 15 levels, ending with 700/1400 blinds with 200 antes. it's super slow and lots of room for play. 10k starting stack, too.

Made it into day 2 with 46,500, about average. there were close to 500 runners total between the 2 flights, so definitely a decent prize pool going.

Palomar update:

Heard that the violations had something to do with prop betting in the big game, but this didn't really make sense to me after reading the statement that Palomar's lawyer released. Same person also said the license is due to expire in June or July, so we'd have til then if it didn't get renewed. He was also felt strongly that it would not be renewed. Then again, this is all hear-say, but came from a reg who is there quite often.

Also interesting, I talked to a lady at the cage and she asked why my player account was empty, I let her know its because of the controversy of PCC getting shut down. She started asking ME if I knew what was up, which is pretty messed - the management isn't letting staff know the details on whether or not these people are going to be out of a job, or if they are, when it would happen.

Palomar's state licence expired on 2012-2-29. They are currently operating on a letter from the state until the evidence hearing takes place. Both the expired state license and this letter are posted, as required, with the other city licenses in the hallway between the cage and the food refrigerators. The state code (12050) that the evidence hearing is held under requires the state commission to disclose any information they might present at the hearing to Palomar's lawyer 30 days in advance. This would make the hearing in late April at the soonest, and might account for the speculation regarding June or July. An employee hinted to us customers that this was all a technicality, and was quite confident it would be successfully cleared up.

Long standing, and AFAIK completely unsubstantiated, rumors have it that (a) Palomar is not at "arms length" with The Corporation that takes the action on the table games, and/or (b) the absentee owners were secretly "bought out" by management at some point in the past.

firstly, i am fully aware that this is the sd subsection. it still applies..

got referred here from B&M and am copy pasting both posts

i'll do my best to make this as short as possible, although i'm pretty bad at that lol. i live in southern california, at the moment in orange county. last year i got a dui (technically my 2nd, joke 10 year law) 6 days before black friday. merge is ok i guess, but is still a far fall from the glory days of ftp and stars. i never really outed myself, never really went out of my way to meet a large number of people in the community, and generally really enjoyed the anonymity that comes w/ poker, especially playing online. it never really mattered that much to me either, i just went everywhere alone anyways. last few trips out to the wsop, other side events around socal, up north. it was never a problem, i dont mind the driving. but now, i can't drive. it's very difficult to make it to any of the surrounding casinos / side games without a car, and i dont excatly have a ton of friends who grind poker that want to hit up a card club for numerous hours on end, or for a tournament that could potentially last all night. the bus & train combo is a complete nightmare and always take hours involving at least one missed connector due to lag; & they dont even run in the middle of the night when most of the better action in the games dries up. wtf to do at 3am on wednesday etc

looking for some people interested in hitting up some of the local casinos and or side games, for tournaments and cash, that don't mind driving. obviously i can throw in on the gas.

^both are two of the casinos i'm talking about (commerce & the bike), and the ones i play at the most. the 3rd would be hawaiian gardens, which is probably the easiest to get to (only need 2 busses), but still a nightmare. and i'm still left holdin my *&^% at like 3 or 4am. and cutting the session short at like 11:30 is just
drunks gonna drunk and i enjoy staying around for that

typically to get to commerce, i need to take a train walk and catch a bus, maybe two. the bike is the same but add on at least one more bus ride.

plus, if one bus is even like 5-10 min late (its more surprising for them to be on time) then you're left standing around waiting for the next one just to stand around waiting for another missed connector and can exponentially increase the time it takes to get there. try doing that in the rain. NOT fun, i can assure you. i dont mind walking, but ffs i live in fullerton. it's like 20 miles to the commerce, and a $50 cab ride each way (have done it more than once)

i just feel like it can't possibly be that difficult to find someone w/ similar interests who's willing & able to go on some grind trips.

reply / pm me if anyone's willing to help or in a similar situation. thanks in advance

Played a $65 Sit N' Go at the WSOP Circuit Event at Harrahs, yesterday. Winner got $500 in tournament chips and $50 in cash. Played solid, but finished 3rd. Got it all in with Queens only to have A-7 off call me and spike an Ace on the turn..

Thank you for the clarification, maybe I can put some money back into my player account w/out worrying. Walking out of that place with anything more than a G at 2am makes me uncomfortable.

Also Clayton I've wondered who you are for the longest time, assuming Clayton was a pseudonym... but it turns out its not. And you're there quite often and I still have no clue who you are.

There is usually a 5/10 or two on Fridays along with the two full 10/20s until the wee hours
And we started the 5/5/10 PLO at midnight and was full when I left at 2ish this week
