Heard there might be some good action at Pala due to their big tourney series, so I went out there last night. Stacked off two people on my third hand in the game with AJ from the SB in an unraised pot. Flop comes A35. 5 way action checks around. Turn J. I bet and get called in two spots. River J. I lead out 3/4 pot, 1 caller, then the player in position makes a huge raise, so I ship it and get 2 calls (I covered both). MP had flopped a set of 5s and LP had flopped a wheel. Nice poker playing, guys.
Anyway, it was a fun night as they started up a 5/10 stud hi game with Tom Mcevoy and mike matusow. It might have been my 3rd time ever playing the game , but I ran hot. After a bit I thought I'd toss out the idea of adding in another game since the pots seemed on the smallish side. Somehow
we decided on PLO. Pots were immediately 4 times bigger! Anyway, did well in the game and had fun playing with those guys.
After that game broke, went back to the nl game, which was very weak. Ended up in the game being very active, but not by much - haha. They forced me to bluff a lot due to their propensity to check call. My favorite was a check call on a board of 2JT-K-9. He obv had to c/c the river with his monster, the J high straight (holding 78). I lost another hand to the same villian when he ran down my set with a7o on the T89-6-K. He got max value by checking the river (which I checked back), but then he slow rolled the F out of it. I had to emphatically check like three times before he would table his hand.
I couldn't wait for what might come.....
Called a raise on button with A3hh. Flop a pair / flush draw on the 634hh flop. Call a bet from villian. Checks thru on the 5c turn. River is Th giving me the nuts. I bet to look bluffy and he called. I reluctantly showed my 3 and he quickly rolled his A4o. Whoopsie, there's another heart under there. Love to get called by 3rd pair on a 4 straight/ flush board. I guess I had an active image ! Haha.
