I got that text too. I live like 5 minutes away but don't see myself going there anytime soon. Poker outside in this humid, heat wave we're having, and having to wear a mask? Ugh, no thanks. I feel bad for the dealers and sounds horrible having to deal these games.

Clayton, have you seen what the setup looks like? Can you illuminate at all if so?

I check out Bravo for curiosity and noticed tons of tables (including some 5/T NL, which I'd love to get it on). What's going on down there?

Also, how do you generally feel about going to Jamul given the current situation? How are you making that value judgement -- I'd love to hear some guidance here, as someone who enjoys and misses live poker but does not rely on it for my income.
Makes enough IRL to play 5/10 comfortably but comes to a poker forum asking for permission to go play? Make the decision for yourself my man, no one knows the intricacies of your situation.

Does anybody have info regarding regular PLO games in SD county (or close by?) Seems as if it's in a bit of a lull lately.

I know 7 Mile had a pretty regular game before shutdown, but checking the app it would seem the game hasn't been going lately.

There's been a game at Ocean's very infrequently.

Does anybody have any info on the Lake Elsinore game? It's usually Friday, any idea of time? Wait list? Regularity? It's a bit of a drive for me, so I'd appreciate some info before making the trek.

Thanks

Hello all, will be in the San Diego area in a couple weeks and planning to play some at O11 since it is the closest place to where we are staying. I'm used to Bravo here in the Midwest but downloaded Poker Atlas app since that is what O11 uses. Is it unreliable in terms of showing current games running? Right now it shows no games and just some names on the wait list, same thing last night as well.

Hey Straightfish,

O11 hasn't been using PokerAtlas since they moved outside. They have some random tables listed as "live" but I don't think there's any meaning behind it. They also aren't using it for waiting lists.

You have to show up and put your name on the board in person. Unfortunately there's no way of knowing what games are running or what the list is like unless you're there in person.

In case you're going to play anywhere else, Sycuan and Jamul are on Bravo, Seven Mile has its own app. All of them are in use.

Ah got it, thanks. I didn’t consider it not working since the action is outdoors now.

Straightfish, you can probably call in to get your name on the waitlist before showing up.

Haven't been to 7 mile in a while. Is the 5/10 running? NL or PLO?

From their website you can download their own app. The app will allow you to see what is running, how deep wait lists are, and to put your name on a waitlist.

I'm headed to San Diego in three weeks. Things change, but now that the county is in the red zone, who's dealing limit hold 'em, or omaha?

5/10 PLO runs every weekday at Seven Mile but only one table and it can be hard to get a seat if you're not in when the game starts. 5/10 NL basically never goes anywhere, but 5/5 goes everyday at Seven, 2/5 goes every day at Oceans.

limit hold'em goes often at both Seven and Oceans, I think Oceans plays slightly bigger but still only small stakes games (like 8/16). If you want to play limit hold'em you might have to go up to LA (I believe the bike is currently spreading tons of stakes of LHE).

7m just moved from their outdoor tent back indoors.

5/10 PLO drop is now $8 (!!!) I think ownership figured out that the private game scene is raking way harder or they’re just trying to recomp the lost months from covid. Either way, that is pretty lousy rake. The games can vary from great to terrible and they’re getting two tables maybe once or twice a week. We’ll see how that trend changes indoors.

Just opened up Seven Mile's app considering playing today. There are currently 53 people on the 2/3 waitlist and 23 on the 5/5 list... what in the world?

Been to Jamul a few times. 1/3 and 2/5 is running every day. Daily tournaments (I don't play) have plenty of players, too. Food court cuisine is . . . terrible. Parking lot is somehow in another dimension, I can never find my car on the way out.

Poker vibe is quite good. The dealers are super skilled. Players are friendly and management is top. My only complaint is that cigarette smoke drifts into the poker room. It's not unbearable, but I really wish the room was completely closed off.

They keep sending me promotions in the mail. It's quite easy to get freeplay chips and food comps.

At Jamul Casino, a group has started up a 6/12 limit (10/20 kill) mix game Wednesday afternoons. Dealers choice of hold ‘em, pineapple, crazy pineapple, and omaha (high only). It’s been starting before noon. You can add your name on Bravo or call the room.

End of August, I will be spending a week in the San Diego area.
  • Any good placed for live poker you would recommend?
  • Or any places to stay away from?
  • Or should I rather drive to LA?

Thanks

Plenty has been written about that, use the search function. There are rooms in and around SD, they are ok. In LA the action is better, but it's a 2h drive minimum, if you are lucky with the traffic

Can anyone share some info
On the 10/10 mix I see running on Fridays at Oceans?

What is the mix?
Is it an “open” game?

Is there usually a straddle?

And what about the Jamul 2/3 PLO? What is the cap? Is it true 2/3 or 5 to go?

Thank you

2/3 at Jamul is a $5 bring-in game. I think it was 700 or 800 max buy-in (played it once only).

At Jamul there’s been a 1-2 PLO (with $5 bring in) running on Wednesdays and Fridays at noon. $100-500 buy in. The game will run other days if there’s enough people to get it started. Call ahead or sign up on Bravo.

Heading to San Diego area next week. Seven Mile's website sucks for poker details, and I don't see it on Bravo. Any idea what games they have? Is it a decent place to play? I prefer PLO, but Hold 'Em is OK if that's all they have. Thanks.
