I claim no expertise in the field of starting or running a poker room, but I think Jamul can go from ~1 table running to ~3 tables running if they 1) incentivise dedicated game starters, and 2) increase visibility for games offered.

best as i can tell (i didnt even notice they had a 2/3/5 running) is usually whenever I check Jamul on Bravo they tend to have 1 game going, and it's a 2/3NL or something like that. my guess is that game runs just from whoever happens to be walking thru the casino. i feel like aggressively incentivizing a certain pool of players to start a 5 handed 2/3 or 5/5 gets you at least one game of each consistently on the high volume days, and maybe if you're lucky you get the one 5/5 and two 2/3 games. add in the cherry on top of that mixed omaha game that AllJackedUp was proposing and now you have a nice baseline of games that can run on thu/fri/sat.

i'd recommend that the jamul poker twitter account update their cash game status more frequently also, just something that says hey a 2/3 started or hey a 5/5 started. that way i could have that running in the background and not have to check bravo multiple times a day.

in a perfect world I want to see Jamul/Seven Mile have the relationship that Palomar/Village used to have. That way when one room gets out of line or starts slacking, there's an incentive structure to move business to the other room. In a super perfect world you'd have similar games running at both places, so you can further dilute the regulars also. I'd love to split up the regs in the PLO at seven mile or the 5/5NL, more variety = a more pleasant experience imo. Palomar and Village used to both have a 5/10, you'd have some everyday regs in both games but one game in two spots was so much nicer than having just the one game in the one spot.

hopefully jamul gets to a place where a recreational like me can contribute to their business. i'm down to play in a game if it ran there for sure, just gotta have a game running. rooting for that 5/5 to get off the ground at some point. get some 5/5 regs to start it! =)

Clayton is on point as usual.

John, are you Licensed for mix/draw games?
Any dealers trained in them?

Anyone know the skinny on whether or not Viejas is bringing back its poker room?

I went to Viejas this weekend and I noticed that they had REALLY increased the size of the casino floor and have a lot of work still going on. It seemed to me to be ludicrous that a place that large and that accessible should be without a poker room. I asked one of the blackjack dealers if they would be bringing back the poker room and he said that he believed so but wasn't 100% certain. Anyone here have better info? I love Barona but Viejas would have me coming every weekend if they got back into the swing of it.

Seven Mile's bad beat jackpot for holdem is up to ~75k or so, all 11 tables are NL

As of this writing on a Sunday they have 7 tables of 2/3 (31 waiting), 2 tables of 5/5 (27 waiting) and 2 tables of 3/6 limit (24 waiting)

so if you plan on playing, get in early. or just hope someone wins the jackpot. it's insanely busy at all hours over there.

Seven Mile BBJ now up to 98k today (sunday), goes up by 1k every day and they add 7k on saturdays if it still doesnt hit

current waitlists (again, on a sunday)
2/3NL: 76 (!!!), 6 tables
5/5NL: 29, 3 tables
3/6LHE: 49, 2 tables

they may not even have room for PLO this week, who knows. dont be surprised to see a bigger game run elsewhere this week if this keeps up.

Seven Mile is capping the jackpot at 105k. Whatever amount it goes over will be added to the next jackpot.

Disappointing news for PLO regulars, but it makes a ton of sense business-wise. They are already filled to the brim at this jackpot level and they want to minimise the business lost whenever the jackpot actually gets hit.

Usually, after a jackpot hits, the poker room turns into a ghost town. Hypothetically, if the total goes to$200k, players will still be lining up.

Been out of the game for a while and looking to get my feet wet again, are there still any decent places to play 1/2?

O11 has a 1/2 that seems to run pretty often. I think it's a really short buy in, though.

Barona has a 1/2 with a $100 max that runs often, also.

Other than that... no, I don't think so.

Thanks for the response. Too bad the Viejas room closed, they had a good 1/2 game.

I'm going to be in town Sunday/Monday and may spend a few hours one evening playing some cards. From the looks of it and skimming the last page or two, there aren't any 5/T games to be found in San Diego?

If that's the case, what are the biggest games spread in either Hold 'Em or Omaha? Alternatively if there happened to be a smaller mixed game going, or randomly some NL 2-7, that would be of interest as well... Thanks!

Oceans 11 will be your only chance for a 5/T NLHE game -- but it's not likely, especially on a Sunday/Monday. There will probably be more than one 2/5 running though. There may be a 5/5 omaha mix (PLO and Big O) running also.

5/T PLO runs at Seven Mile on weekday nights, so that game may be running on Monday evening... however, they currently have a 105k BBJ up for grabs and are running holdem at every table.

Oceans 11 games can be found on poker atlas; Seven Mile has their own app that you can download through google play store.

Awesome info, thanks! I'll download that app today and see what's going on at both places as I'm in the area. 5/T PLO is a little big for me, since I assume it gets straddled fairly often as most PLO games do, and since I'm still getting my feet wet with the Omaha variants.

What's the qualifier for that BBJ? I've never hit one before, and I would be juuust lucky enough to do it in Cali and pay some extra taxes .

I actually don't know the BBJ requirements. Maybe Clayton can weigh in.

There has been a 1/2 PLO running at Oceans 11 (since you're looking for a game to wade into omaha).

Just what i was coming to post

It would be better as a time game and not charging extra for multiple boards

Hopefully this leads to some plo or mixed games going also

excellent news, i will definitely play in that game if i'm free, and i'll let a bunch of people know. buying up to max stack is pretty awesome but i'm not sure if it's good for the health of the room; any rec that runs up a stack is gonna start ****ting bricks when all these hoodies add chips to cover. the rake and food comps look awesome also.

fwiw theres been talk at 7mile of getting a mix game running at jamul sometime soon, i hope that materialises. something between 50-100 and 100-200 to start. we shall see.

not sure i agree, i think their dealer/floor infrastructure is prob still getting into the groove of things, managing a time drop schedule is difficult (and u dont want things being difficult when youre trying to grow some games), and time drop really sucks if you have a dealer that is on the less experienced side. i would fist pump take that rake to start since it's pricing out 7mile and oceans by a lot.

The list for the $5-$10 NL game at Jamul will open Friday at 12pm if you want to lock up a seat. You can call in to 619-315-2270 to be put on the list. The game will start at 2pm Saturday the 10th. If you are not here at 2pm or have at least called to say you are on your way, we will give the seat to the next person on the list. Any questions feel free to give us a call at the poker room.

Did that game get going? I couldn't make it today. If yes, anyone know when they expect it to get going again? I'll be playing some tomorrow during the day. Likely to head to seven but would play jamul 5/T If it's going.
