Any more info on the Viejas PLO game yet? Did it just run that one random Friday or has it been going regularly?

Also, along those lines, WHY the hell did they move the poker room downstairs? Anyone have the inside info?

I played the PLO game Saturday May 15.
It was a 2-5 blind structure with a max buyin of $500.
The game was full and there was a short board.
The action was good, especially early on.

This was my first trip to Viejas in 6-8 months so I can't say anything to the regularity of this game, but a regular in the game told me it runs regularly on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights.

anybody know when/why they took away the super bad beat jackpot (quads v. quads) away from oceans? i guess it's only one kind now where it's all inclusive. players share of 50-60k sounded a lot better than players share of 20k.

I was told by one of the floor guys they received a ton of complaints about it, people (and dealers) complaining it would only hit a couple times a year

Viejas has the PLO going on the weekends usually now, and it was even running a few wed back when i was there for their 1500 gtn wed night tourney.

They had a PLO/8 tourney on the first 2 thursday nights this month but it just changed to PLO and it looks like its gonna stay as the thurdays night tourney (plo8 was an awesome tourney w/$5 rebuys, easy trip to the FT)

I'd rather NOT play than go to Palomar. That place gives me the creeps.

There were 2 full games on Friday for several hours and the main game lasted til early am (5am-ish). I think the first game started at about 1pm.

Went to Viejas to play plo last Thursday. They had about 10 names on the 2/5 list but most of the players were at a nlh table, and they wouldn't break it to get the plo game going.

A 1/2 plo game that started around 7:15. This is a smaller game than I prefer, but I drove out there to play plo, so I played anyway. The action was good--too good maybe. So many players kept busting and leaving that the game ended up breaking after just a few hours.

Obv, I only went this one time, but it seems to me from what I saw and heard from regs that the 2/5 plo runs regularly on Fri and Sat and just occasionally on Thursdays.

A little OT, but could any of you give me an estimate of how long it would take to get to the San Diego Convention Center from Oceanside if I left around 7am on a weekday?

I'll be attending a half a week long convention in July and I'm thinking about staying at the Days Inn Oceanside and just driving in every morning.

An hour is more than enough.
Are you staying in Oceanside to play poker at Ocean's 11?
Otherwise, I'd obv stay closer to the convention center.

Depends on what game(s) you're looking for:

The 2/3 NL game has a $200 max buyin. (Although I've heard they increased it to $300) There's a must move though, and the main game often has many, many people with $1K+ in front of them.

They have a 5/10 NL game with great, great action and plenty of bad players. It runs maybe 4 days a week.

The 8/16 Limit Omaha8 game is out of this world good, and often plays significantly bigger (voluntary kill pots at any time after an individual wins a pot).

They also have 3-6 limit hold em and they used to have a great 8-16 LHE game that ran Mon-Fri beginning at 12pm, but that game has basically died out now.

No player benefit programs or comps.

Food is decent.

Valet park your car.

PM me if you have any other questions. I used to play there almost every day.

So does Viejas in fact have a PLO game Thursday through Saturday nights? I ask because I live about the same distance from Viejas as Ocean's. Haven't been to either but am hoping to in the near future.

Which is better? Which has better comps?

Ocean's game only runs on Friday nights.
The food is all comped at Oceans when you play in the PLO game.

Well everything is pretty much booked up in or near downtown, or is like $200 + a night, as opposed to paying $90 a night at a beach front hotel in Oceanside and just driving in every morning. I'll be staying for 4 nights with fiancee and toddler, so I'll be saving $350-$400 +. It's pretty much the hottest time of the year for San Diego in terms of hotel bookings because it''s Comic Con time, which is why we are going.

Yeah if I'm not completely exhausted at night I'm definitely going to try and play some cards at Ocean's 11. I've always wondered about that place, always drove by, but never stopped, hope the action is good, my choice of game is 4/8 - 8/16.

leaving at 7am means you're in with the daily commuters. which means your ride will suck. traffic starts accumulating about 6:20am on 5 south on weekdays. if you don't have a strict arrival time (ie, just going for comic con...?), then it won't matter too much.

i might suggest to get a hotel room near solana beach / cardiff / encinitas instead of oceanside, as that will cut down on your commute time through carlsbad, but also leave you only 15 min or so to get to oceans 11 in the evening.

and yes, there are always going to be 4/8 and 8/16 lhe games going. usually there are multiple tables of each, especially during peak-ish times.

Hello San Diego Poker Players.

I visit San Diego on business once or twice a month and sometimes I have time to kill before my flight back and would like to play some Poker.

Weekday afternoon, small stakes, near airport.

Any suggestions will be appreciated, Thanks in advance.

Chili -

I've seen your posts on here for some time, and for the life of me I can't figure out who you are. I'm sure we've at least seen each other (if not played before) since I play the 5-5 at O11 3-5 times every week; usually weekdays M-F. Come up and introduce yourself, Lance (I'm usually in seat 3)
