I wonder if I have ever seen you at Palomar (back when they were still open) or at Seven Mile. I see you post a lot itt.
Anyways, let me give you a rundown. I have been playing anywhere from 3-5 days a week for the past few months. Lots of times I will be there early in the morning to help start the 4/8 omaha 8/b. That game usually starts anywhere from 9:30am to 10:30am.
8/16 has run every time I have played in the last few months. It usually will start around 11:30am to 12:30pm. Lot of the players who start the 4/8 are also on the 8/16 list. So sometimes the floor will wait till there is a decent list for the 4/8 before opening the 8/16, as to not break the 4/8. Other times, the floor doesn't give a damn about the 4/8 and will start the 8/16 like 30 minutes after starting the 4/8 and breaking the 4/8 in the process.
Some days, the 8/16 will break due to people going broke and/or players hoping from game to game. There are at least two old regulars (one is 89 years old, the other 93 years old) who will jump from 4/8 to 8/16 to 4/8 etc.
I have been there at night and the 8/16 has always been running. Sometimes it will get close to life support around like 7 or 8 pm. I think the full kill makes the game's regularity very spotty. Often times it will get down to like 5 or 6 players plus a prop. Minimum buy in is $80 and I often see lot of short stackers in the game.
Other times, I have walked in around 8am to see that an 8/16 game from the previous night is still running, though that only happened a handful of times.
There's a decent player pool so you'll get a wide range of tables. Sometimes all nits where every pot is either chopped by the blinds, raise and all folds or occasionally a 2-4 way pot. Other times, you get guys who are voluntarily killing it every hand or straddling when there isn't a kill or blind raising.
For a while there, the dealers were mentioning how every other pot was $1000t and how crazy the 8/16 was (this was when I had only played the 4/8). If it gets capped every street in a kill pot, each person contributes $384. Five ways, that's a $1920 pot. They were having crazy pots like this left and right.
PLO goes every day. I never played it or pay any attention to it though. Think it starts most days around 1pm or so, after the daily tournament is done.
