Funny you should ask, Pechanga is actually hosting a 250+30 mega this Saturday at 2pm. It looks like it only awards 1 seat with the rest in cash, but it's an option and it's only 4 days away.

Thanks for the info. Actually gonna have to miss this one but I'll keep my eye on Pechanga, if they have a seat this far out they will have more.

Does PLO still run during the days at 7mile?
Also how accurate is the Poker Atlas? I went to their website this evening and it's not showing any PLO games running anywhere in the city on a Friday night. Is this normal for San Diego in terms of not having much PLO consistently anywhere in the city?

Generally, O11 has PLO running on Friday nights but sometimes it doesn't run. 7Mile will have PLO running during the week.

Occasionally, PLO will be running Tuesday night's at O11, but definitely check Poker Atlas to confirm. I wish 7Mile's system was made available online...

So is it the 5/10plo that still runs at 7mile? I checked the poker atlas and it says that PLO runs occasionally. That's why I wondered how current and accurate the app is. Can't believe in a city that size there's no consistent games running

Seems that it's important whether the icon is showing for 'Live info' - then you really know the number of tables and the wait lists etc for each game. Like right now the only venues showing live info in the SoCal area are the Bike and Oceans.

The Bike shows: three 1/2 Nlhe tables and a waitlist of 5 for 1-2 stud, one 4/8 LHE, one 2/3 NLH, one 5/5 NLH, one 60/120 mix and various waitlists for other games.

Oceans shows one 2/2NLH and one 4/8 O8 with various wait lists for other games.

The other casinos without live updates show 'Runs:Always' or 'Runs:One or Two Tables' for each game.

5/10 PLO is running fairly consistently at 7 mile during the week. But when In doubt, just call their poker board and they'll tell you if it's going and how long the wait list is.

What I don't understand is that, in light of the success to the 5/5 weekend PLO game that was consistently running at Palomar, there isn't another weekend PLO game in town anymore.

As for poker atlas, as has been stated , only O11 and the bike are linked. All the other locations listed there are for reference, to get an idea of what is usually available locally

Most Fridays, a second game will open and feed the main game. Player pool seems like it's mostly pro's w/a few scattered dentists and businessmen.

Planning on going to San Diego to play some live 1/2-2/5. Advice on the softest games? Anywhere in San Diego have uncapped 1/2? I'm thinking about Sycuan now as it looks like they have a 1/3 game with 500 max buy in.

it's pretty crazy, but i played the palomar game a ton and i just never see the guys who made the 5/5 so good at seven mile, so i think there's a chicken and egg issue. also the floors at 7mile are generally awful at putting together games. if you bring them a game, they'll run it, but they mostly don't seem to know how to build it. one of the floors mentioned they want to get a text list going for weekend games, and i said i'd be happy to be on it. i'm 10 minutes away and hate making the 35 mile drive to o/11 saturday/sunday for decent sized games. They not only didn't get my number, no list ever got started. i asked the next day and got shrugs.

The palomar, the floor would shoot out texts and generally speaking people would show up. occasionally one floor might say "we've got <super fish> on the way" and it wouldn't pan out, but they mostly told the truth and they'd put in the effort to reach out to players. that's what it takes to make those games run. no way the floors at seven mile have any interest in that.

Palomar also charged $20/hr rake in that game. Higher rake gets you better service. No reason for 7 mile to spread 5/5 plo (the slowest game) for $5/drop when they could open another 2/3NL. You are right though their floor is incompetent.

I am interested in joining a poker study group that meets regularly to discuss poker. The meeting can take place online via Skype or at a physical location such as a library. My goal in the study group is to make a few poker friends and bounce ideas off of more experienced players to develop strategies to crush it at the tables. Private message me if you are considering starting a study group, already have one in place or are interested in helping a beginning player improve his game.

Also is this the only place where 2/5 or 5/5 runs in San Diego? Seven mile has 5/10 but no 5/5 which seems odd, would really appreciate any help thanks

Insider knowledge: Don't go on a Monday, tuesday, or wednesday.

Go on a Thursday or Friday (those are the normal tournament days) or go on the last weekend. For some reason the last couple of multi-day tourneys we've had, the Thursday day 1's have had decent turnouts.

I've given up on finding good tournaments in San Diego. Sure i get no tourney practice, but cash games are more consistently soft anyway.
