Thank you very much, sir, I will do my best to donk off. Sounds like I'll be heading to 7 Mile, which I think I had already figured out was the best option. Will mostly be drinking your amazing beer all day and wandering in at night

Lucky Lady is a small cardroom with a handful of tables about 7 miles from gaslamp. The room is not great, the ambiance is meh, but it's close and they will have at least one 2/3 NLHE game running daily. If you go, visit Pho Hoa across the street for amazing soup (ambiance is also meh, but trust me on the soup).

Seven Mile is also a small cardroom about 7 miles from gaslamp (hence the name "Seven Mile"). This used to be Village Club, but the owners bought up a Soup Plantation and El Torito and have converted the two restaurants into a really really nice card room. Food is good, staff is good, ambiance is good... and action is hot and heavy. This would probably be my choice for you and it fits your uberable requirement. The only downside is the limit on tables since it is a small room and you cannot call ahead to be put on the wait list. They will have several 2/3 NLHE games running from 10am-ish onward. 5/5 NLHE also runs daily and often starts before the 2/3 games. The minimum buy in for the 2/3 NLHE is $50, which contributes to the actiony nature of this game.

Sycuan is an Indian casino about 25 miles away with a busy poker room (15 tables? 17 tables? something like that). 2/3 NLHE ($100-$400) runs daily with several games, starting around 10am ish. Games can be rock infested or decent action... it's kind of hard to predict. Food is decent, staff is good. 2/5 NLHE occasionally runs on weekend evenings. Games can be found on Bravo.

Barona is an Indian casino also about 25 miles away with a busy poker room the same size as Sycuan. 1/3 NLHE ($100-$500) runs daily with several games, starting around noon ish. Like Sycuan, games tend to be rock infested during the afternoons but can get decent action and deep during the evenings. 2/5 NLHE does seem to run on Thursday nights as well as weekends. Games can be found on Atlas.

Oceans 11 is about 50 miles north from gaslamp. This is the biggest room in San Diego with the most variety of games. NLHE up to 10/25, FLHE up to 8/16, 5/5 or higher PLO, lots of games to choose from. Food is good, service is good, staff is good. Games are good. Unlike the Indian casinos, alcohol is served. Games are on Atlas.

I'd go with Seven Mile due to game quality and proximity. GL, please leave all your money at the table to support our eco system. ;-)

I'm about to spend some time in SD and I'm thinking about going to 7 mile to play some PLO. Can I buy poker-chips with a credit card or do I need to bring cash? I'm completely clueless with how casinos work.

Credit card will only do cash advance and will probably come with 20-25% instant fee, probably even more. It’s live poker, cash is king.

Thanks for the heads-up. I did not know that. Are there any local trading groups for cash vs Skrill, Stars, BTC etc or is that mostly a Vegas thing?

A google search for "BTC ATM San Diego" comes up with three locations.

Not what I'm looking for, but very cool indeed. I actually think San Diego has 30+ ATMs where you an cash out BTC. Just be aware that you often pay 10% in vig which makes using a regular atm seem affordable.

Seven Mile made some pretty big changes this week:

- call-ins now get 1 hour to claim their seat instead of 2. i think this was a reaction to the increasingly large waitlists. i think in principle its a good idea, but it screws me over (lol) because it means i have to probably play more 5/5 as i wait for a seat in the PLO, and since i didnt win a single session at 5/5 last year i have to try harder to win at the rigged 2 card game.

- there's now an app which gives you the games and the number of ppl on the waitlist (and you can put yourself on the waitlist as a call-in thru the app). you gotta show your players card to the people at the front desk, provide some info, then they text you the link to download the app. also random promotions on there too. very cool and psyched to be able to check the board at all times now instead of calling in.

Does anyone happen to know if Ocean's Eleven and/or 7 Mile has deposit boxes?

If they do, what are the requirements? Do we have to deposit money and/or give personal info? (W-4/SS?)

They have players banks instead of boxes. Pretty sure it works just like a regular bank account, they just need your social.

In other news, Jamul Casino is opening a poker room in February with a $550 opening day tournament. I don’t see it being successful, but maybe they steal some of the east county Sycuan traffic.

Their room will be convenient for anybody in Eastlake... I think they may steal some of the pool from 7M as well as some of the east county regs.

if they run a legit room i could see it being like the old palomar/village dynamic where one room steals traffic from the other with promises of running a better game, and it just sorta goes back and forth

I see Jamul hired a guy from Thunder Valley. Seems like a positive step.

Anyone know the details on the PLO that goes at Sycuan?

I have rarely seen PLO go at Sycuan. Only 4/8 O8 and once we got a 8/16 game going. If anything it has to be 1/2 with a 5 bring in.

Ok
Just happened to look at Bravo last night and it showed two tables of 2/2

I’d also be curious as to the structure of the 5/5 plo currently going at Seven Mile

5/5 plo structure is 200 to 2000 and it only runs weekends (assuming it runs). weekdays is 5/10 plo which is 500 to 5000.

How are the games at Ocean's these days? I haven't been in forever. Is 7 Mile worth the trek if I'm closer to Ocean's?

jamul already has soft opened, looks like they have a 2/3NL going consistently between now and the tournament on the 15th. its up on bravo. if anyone checks it out let us know!

jamul also has a board w/ a waitlist for 2/5NL, 5/5NL, and 5/10NL. idk what games they are looking to spread longterm but seems like its v NL heavy so far.

i should also mention that, not coincidentally, seven mile has been raining constant promotions this week. like once an hour theyre choosing a random seat to get paid between $200 and $350, and they're picking random card numbers for monies, and they're doing some saturday giveaway where you get tickets for the saturday promotional giveaway once an hour if you play 5/5 or higher.

nice to see a little competition stir up the VIP rakeback treatment
