this is very true about oceans.

if you think about it... the place is a military town pretty much being next to the base.

Also, of the few times i've been in there, a few players have verbally confirmed that they are shills/ house players whatever you want to call it after taking a weird line I asked them about. (and they were very open about it)

Yeah I don't know the details but apparently not. Still chugging along with a few tables of 2-3 and 3-6 every day.

Are there any good limit holdem options available around? Looking for 10-20 or higher. 20-40 probably ideal.

Oceans Eleven will occasionally spread 20-40 and 40-80 but they only go a few times a month I think.

Thanks for the info. Doesn't sound too great. Especially since I'll be staying in downtown SD. That's like about an hour away, right?

What are people’s thoughts on room difficulty. I used to be a OcEans eleven winning reg during college then spent time off traveling. Now i live closer to seven mile and have played only about five sessions and am down eight buy ins at two three nl. I feel like i face high aggression there a lot. I am used to it online at ten twenty five nl six max on stars where im a winner but now i dont even want to play live and oceleven is far from me. I heard seven mile is great action but i feel most peoples are competent from my smalll sample

Great post I love 7 Mile and play mostly O8 but some NLHE and I think the action is great. I don't find it hard to find the 3 donks at the table there are sharks. You could be on a down swing so give it some more time and play solid.

I've played probably 100 hours at Seven Mile and Oceans Eleven. Never noticed any difference in difficulty in a 2-3 game for example.

In about a week when i get home I'll write a full report on my time in the San Diego area. I've been here almost 2 weeks and loved it. Played mostly at 7mile, but i also played at Sycuan, Pechanga, Barona, Pala, Oceans, Lake Elsinore, San Manuel, Morongo, and Agua Caliente during this trip.

I think you guys are very lucky to have a great poker scene and some very well run places to play. I'll miss my time here and look forward to coming back.

can anyone attest to what the rake looks like at the rooms in this area?

Oceans 11/Harrah's/Pala/Seven Mile etc. (For Oceans, I saw this from last year, is it still accurate? drop $4+1 on flop and $1 on river)

Thanks in advance!

Looking forward to your review. I have played at most of these casinos. Although super obscure, Harrahs Rincon is a good one when 1/3 runs. Trust me, its a game you have never seen before.

San Manuel was good but the rake increased which became quite noticeable. Lake Elsinore, is great too. Small little hole but nice stand and soft games.

Wow, I live here and you have played at more places than I have even heard of here. Do you mean Casino Caliente in Tijuana? I'm looking forward to the review and want to hear your opinions on the stakes here if you played multiple stakes and your opinions on which rooms seem softer than others. My friend lets me rent a room that is 2 minutes from Casino Caliente and he tells me it is the softest game but the rake is insane and the buy in is lower

I have never been northeast of Temecula unless you count Vegas. Thanks for the clarification.

Would anyone in the San Diego area be interested in a 40/80 mix game? Does anyone know if the casinos around are able to spread all the games (2-7, badugi, stud, etc)?

20/40 and 40/80 o8 have randomly been spread at 7mile, but only when the PLO tablestarters are in the mood to play o8. only a couple of them are into mix.

it's generally a tough sale due to the real estate of the room, you'd have to ensure that you're not disrupting the player pool of 5/10NL and somehow that 5/10 PLO doesnt go that day. there arent enough tables to accommodate all three.

Harrah's can legally spread most games including Badugi, but the dealers aren't trained on them. They also don't have the player base for that kind of game. But, if you find the players and don't mind coaching the dealers a bit, they may be willing to spread the game for you.

Hey Guys,

I'm flying to San Diego from NJ at the end of the month. Just had a couple questions.

Best 18+ (Gf is 19 lol) Casino (For Poker) near Downtown San Diego..is it Sycuan?

Also, does 1/2 NL play like east coast casinos aka max buy in 300 (sometimes 500 in Atlantic City)?

Sorry for being lazy I can prob just google but figured I'd ask the regs.

Sycuan is really about 40 min from downtown. 1/2 doesn't really run there any longer, though. The games are all 2/3 with a $400 max buyin. You can find their current games on Bravo app.

1/2 games will run at Barona, maybe 5 or 10 minutes further out than Sycuan from downtown. Max buyin is $100. You can find their current games on Atlas.

Oceans11 is roughly 30-40 minutes north of downtown. They will have some 1/1 (buyin up to $60) and 2/2 (buyin up to $200) running. There games are also on Atlas.

The closest room to downtown is going to be Seven Mile... but I think the smallest game they spread is 2/3 (and bring a few buyins, games are crazy).
