He's been at Oceans most of the year. Had the chance the chance to play a round with him at Santa Luz, very friendly.

He can't pay people back without some funds to play with and cover all debts.

Anyone know what the expected field will be for the River Card event at Pala on the 30th?

Pretty Hefty Buy-in. To meet their 40K estimate, they would need approx. 130 runners.

I'm going to try to Satellite in the day before. 10am and 4pm Super Satellites. Anyone else trying same?

Do you really think they'll get that many? Pretty hefty buy in for the folks that normally play there.

I might. The decision is whether to do this one or a deep stack with 30 minute levels and a $30k guarantee at the Bike for $200 buy in.

I will be vacationing in CA next month and expect to play the Haig Kelegian Classic on the 6th. I've never been to Oceans 11. Can you guys clue me in on what to expect, some tips, etc.? Also, in regards to the tournament itself, what is the blind structure? How many players are expected? Will it complete in one day (I can't play the 7th)? Thanks for any help.

No, not 200-300, but i think 130 is feasible, esp since the heftier buyin might attract others who stay away from the lower buyin events.

The appeal of any Pala (or any north county) tournament is the extreme softness of it all. however, LA is a fish tank, too...tough decision.

I will unfortunately be out of town...which makes me sad.

palomar and village club could both probably accomodate, though i cant say with certainty. that said they are your only 2 options. village is in chula vista so its probably a better choice since its a lot closer to rosarito.

No
But to avoid getting shutout befriend some people in/"around" the game so you get a text/call.

I checked out Palomar this past friday. It was less than 15 minutes from my hotel in the Gaslamp which was a huge plus. They provided valet parking (guy looked shady but it was legit). Within 2 hours, I was up 3 BIs which I ran really good but also was surprised by how easily people stacked off their TPMK+draw kinda hands.

They provided me with a food voucher to a bunch of restaurants worth $5 for playing the first hour. It was definitely crowded there and it was a bit weird because they sat me immediately into a feeder table which was a blackjack table so only 7 people could play max but the wait wasn't too long.

I have another week to check out other poker rooms. Overall, Palomar is a decent card place for a small spot. It sucks they have to close by 2am.

What other card rooms are within an hour of Gaslamp? I see a few on my BravoLive but places like Palomar don't show up.

What stakes are you playing?
Village would be good based on convenience
Oceans would provide the best poker experience almost no matter why your game of choice is.

Village Club is on Broadway in Chula Vista. From the Gaslamp take I-5 South to H Street, and then turn on Broadway. I believe it is on the 400 Block.

I'm mostly a tournament player, and those are lousy there. I hear it's a great place for cash games, thoUGH. Inside looks like a converted house..several small room. Food is cheap, and I heard good, but I never ate there.

Parking sucks and they cram you nuts to butts during peak times..

I don't think they have 1-2 there..just 1-3 or 2-3..Good Luck!
