The time is getting closer and closer. Mount Airy plans on starting with 12 cash tables on the 2nd floor of the casino as soon as the state gives the official go ahead. Here's an article from the Pocono record today.

Table games to arrive Tuesday at Mount Airy

June 07, 2010 3:41 PM

Mount Airy will take delivery of 72 tables in anticipation of launching the era of table games in the Poconos Tuesday.

A sealed container with poker, Baccarat, black jack, craps, roulette and specialty tables will be officially unsealed and inspected by a Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board representative. Crews will unload the tables and march them into the casino, where they will take their place among the rows of slot machines, waiting for the state’s go-ahead to be played.

Be the first to see the games with our online coverage Tuesday and print report Wednesday.

My best friend is taking a class at nhcc and told me the dealers are spitting their tips...that's a sin to society

In my opinion that's a bad move on the casino all it does is bring moral and lower customer service

It's a great way to lose players to sands and pocono downs

Is that just for floor games dealers or does that include poker dealers? That is kind of the suck, I was considering taking the course just for the hell of it the certificate is always a nice backup to have.

This is really exciting news, but it's frustrating that there is still no exact opening date set.

Mike, do you know what the poker dealer course covers? Is it just hold em or do they cover plo8 and some of the other games as well in that course?

I'm imagine it covers all games definitely not just hold'em. I've lost interest though if poker dealers are pooling tips with floor dealers.

On a happy note looks like we got a July 13th opening date!

Have they announced the stakes? Standard 1/2 and 2/5 for NL?

The state has not set up tournament regulations yet. Plus I don't think 11 tables starting is enough to host tournaments along with cash games.

I'm sure it will be standard and likely they will run whatever there's a demand for.

What state is this in? There's a Mount Airy, MD that I live really close to but never heard of this so just assuming it's a different Mount Airy.

Should be interesting once its up and running. Its close to a couple colleges, anyone know if it will be 18 or 21 to play poker? Would make a difference in numbers of people playing during certain times.

I'm about 15 minutes away, and have been waiting for this to happen ever since the slots opened up. I'm thinking the competition is going to be a lot worse than the more metro areas, hopefully 80% tourists-ty types. Anyone care to share their opinions on the quality of opponents? I'd also like to see something above 2/5 get spread.

+1

I guess we'll have to wait and see what it's like. I'm planning on being there opening day, or latest the weekend after opening day.

Anyone have any idea on what the rake will be?

The nearest poker room to Mt. Airy will be at Pocono Downs, Wilkes-Barre. The rake at Pocono Downs has been set at $4 max, no BBJ drop.

Mt. Airy may not want to go much higher.

Great, I hope so. I read the Meadows was doing $5 and time rake for 2/5+. Is the Pocono Downs simply not having a BBJ at all ever? I'd prefer there not be a BBJ at Airy but it is a nice draw when they gets high.

The BBJ is a marketing device. I would be very surprised if Pocono Downs promised never to have one. But for now, $4 max rake and no BBJ at Pocono Downs.

It's my understanding that the poker room will be on the main casino floor, in a small room-like area off of the main casino, there were virtual blackjack machines and video poker machines in that area previously. If you go up from the bus lobby and make a left after passing through security you will come to it on the left hand side.

I don't see how they will fit 12 tables in there.

"Soft" opening of table games is Sunday, July 11, whatever that means. Don't know if that includes poker.
