er7....glad you stated the sad news about chato. That he apparently died in Mexico made it surprising news to many. I was caught offguard myself after being away for some six weeks around the holidays.

Speaking of Rydel, briefly. I played 1-3 w/him about a month ago at TV. Think he was waiting for a 2/5 seat. Haven't seen since.

Why why oh why would you ever tell a fish he's being talked about on a poker strategy forum?

i did see nacho a couple nights ago, but he wasnt playing.

one other thing i've noticed lately in sac cardrooms: a lot of large african american women have been playing. for the past year i've only been playing a small amount live, but i don't remember them playing much before. not sure what that's all about.

There's a lot more dicking around going on for sure in the Sac poker games, and the games seemed to have a much more home-game feel to it, players being very comfy about being douchy, and give each other crazy action/trying to bust each other with random garbage.

For a long period of time there was a unwritten game going where if there was at least 3 of us given group of guys there in a same game(and sometimes games would just literally be like 9 regs flinging stacks around), there would be a slowroll contest. generally trying to execute the most hilarious, best/trickiest slowroll in good pots.

turned the taboo into something funny, got the whole table loose and gambling, and desensitized me forever so that no matter how bad of a slowroll I get now, it does not affect me one bit.

Half a million people in the city and over 2 million in the area, how exactly is that a very small, rural town? Compared to LA ya I guess but you do realize Sac would be the largest city in most states by far right?

answer: that fish happens to be a friend of mine

Why would you call a fish out by name in a local thread? If the OP wanted to discuss his current dilemma of being a complete nit in a game with more action then he could handle, he didn't need to use names. In fact, its against the B&M forum guidelines. But instead, I gave Harlan a platform to respond, in my mind evening the playing field.

I played at Casino Royale, last Saturday from ~ noon-5pm. Up there to work
a boxing/mma show that was at the Radison, just a few minutes away.
Initially sat at a new 1-2Nl game---6 handed. Horrible. 3 /4 of "pots"
consisted of the bb taking back his $2. After about 15 minutes, floorman
offers to make it 3/6 limit, to fill the table and "get you some action".
well, only ~ 1/3 of the pots were chopped.
After ~15 minutes of that, moved to omaha hi/lo 3/6 with 1/2 kill., with
"must move main game"nearby (only it really was not must move).
This was a fun game. Players woud draw to low after a flop of xpaintpaint,
raise the river with a non-nut flush, non-nut low, pretty often.
Spent my last ~ 2 hours in the main game. Two players were on omaha tilt.
This was a profitable situation. It did seem like everyone knew everyone else,
other than myself.
Clean place. Nice floor staff. Nice player menu.
The players? Two times players announced "two pair for high' with quads, and
a modest amount of slow rolling. Modest dealer abuse tolerated.
Overall, I would go back if/when i am up that way again.

population wise sac is pretty big compared to a lot of farming communities, but only because the area is so big and counts as one city..

if you consider the demographics and economics of this area it is pretty dead.. sf isn't even a top 10 US city but makes sac look like a ghost town

You do realise that San Francisco is less than 7x7 miles?

The effective population is less than 700,000. It almost doubles every day with commuters.

I'm guessing you're the typical valley tourist that drives to San Francisco, and hits the same lame strips that every other 20 something goes to.

Live in the city for a while and you'll figure out that you seem the same people everywhere you go.

Sacramento is a cool city, it's far from "dead", but I've only lived here for a year, but I have lived in SF, NYC, LA and London.

There's 5x more poker rooms in Sacramento than San Francisco.

actually I grew up in the city and have lived in la, and been around other big cities like chicago, nyc, boston for periods of times and sacramento.. is not even what I consider a big city..

the downtown area is limited, only supported of what's left of our union state employees, many neighborhoods are just in terrible shape and every newly developed areas on the outskirts are abandoned or being taken over by the bottom class.. few years ago there were blocks full of new middle class homeowners but now the same blocks are half foreclosed.. just drive around and see what percentage of homes and businesses around are closed down...

there are a lot of places to play in theory, but only one comes close to even carrying around a decent crowd regularly and that's a indian casino outside of town,

whereas you go to a card room in the bay area any given day of the week and see tables full of rich fish throwing money around, because people down here have the expendable income.

sure there may be a lot of people in sacramento but with the majority in poverty our just struggling to survive, I'd rather be in an area that is smaller but is denser with an actual population ready to gamble..

The Sac area poker community has always been pretty small. While the population of the metro area is around 2 mill, Sacramento proper is only 375k. We are extremely spread out. The decline in housing prices has been substantial, with some areas nearing a 70% drop per square foot over the past few years. Also, Sacramento has one of the highest unemployment percentages in the country. These lead to a generally weak overall gambling group and those that do gamble head out to Thunder Valley because of the slots, baccarat, etc. attractions.

But Thunder is not the only decent crowd in town. Casino Royale and Capitol both attract quite a crowd. Perhaps the SF card rooms attract quite a crowd because there is not a Thunder Valley near by to steal all the business? How far do the SF players have to travel for slots, roulette or dice action?

Went to Jackson last night for old times sake and actually got a 2/5 game going (used to go here regularly when younger, and never saw one spread).

It was a very good game, hopefully they can keep it going on weekends. Little farther for me than Thunder/Capitol etc but was good to see there is still money at the tables at Jackson, my memories of it were always very shallow tables/nitty old dudes everywhere.

abarbar.....I would suggest posting up at an intersection in front of the mall. alot of traffic and some good panhandling spots.

I was asking a sincere question because you said you were going to be propping it. I don't think the owners anticipated the players to stay at Royale. Right now both casinos are keeping a game alive but sacramento is obviously not big enough to support 2 daily 5-10 games. If I had to guess I think capitol will be the only place spreading a 5-10 by the end of the summer for a few different reasons. only time will tell

joeb...... dont you know abarber is gonna win 300k next weekend, his styro cup days are over.

Good thing about June, most of the good 5-10+ players go to Vegas, & if we do get a local game, it's bound to be extra phishy.

Anyone here know where all the WSOP ME local satalites are, and when?

Because it's a seat worth 10k, and I'm not a super baller who likes to play 10k's on his own money
