I have not played at Running Aces since they denied my request for a new set-up. I asked for the change when I spotted a marked card. Neither the dealer nor the floor could see the mark. The player in the 8th seat asked to inspect the card. He said that he could not see the crease but he feel it. That is when I asked for the new setup. The dealer responded "It will slow the game down."
I made a complaint to the Minnesota Racing Commission who oversee and regulate the poker room. I was told by the investigator that Running Aces is well within its rights to deny the request. The investigator said that it was ok for Running Aces to use with marked cards. I then complained to the Governor's office without resolution.
Since this occurrence, I learned the better way to have handled this incident was to call 911 for a Minnesota State Trooper. I have also though ordering the messiest thing on the menu and don't use napkins.
Set ups certainly do slow the game down, but what is point of even playing if there is no integrity? Easy to say this . . but how about just tearing the card in half next time? ( I see why this place is second rate)
I've seen Canterbury dealer's request a new card frequently, and that is without even being prompted by a player. . They just pay enough attention to detail there. Guess what? It never slows the game down. Simple to just request a single card be replaced from the "red" deck for instance, they just keep dealing with the "blue" deck until the floor brings the replacement card.
