This promo for$5 an hour has been great. Been playing 2-60, killing it, and getting a tank of gas on the way out!

Omaha seems to be running a lot more frequently than it used to. The BBJ hit, but even after that, over the weekend (Sat/Sun? was there both days and don't remember which I saw this on) there were two tables of hi-lo AND two tables of hi running at the same time (all 4/8).

I need to go try the $2-$60 spread before Jan. ends.

Is it just the tables that I've played at lately or are others here also noticing more non-regs on their 2/60 tables?

What is the best time to go do you think? Early in the morning? Late at night?

Prolly more non-regs... I am a CCC reg and have been playing RA a lot more lately...

Hated RA @ first but it is growing on me. CCC always makes me feel so comfortable but I enjoy the spread game at RA although I do miss the softest spread games ever at GCM/GCH back in the day

Whenever I went to GCM/GCH they never got anything bigger than 2-10 going...do they ever have any nights they get larger games going?

Rarely except win a big tournament is going off...

Back when GCM/GCH first opened, 5-30 & 5-60 went off every weekend and were really soft games. Stupidly passive droolers who would call down to the river with an Ace in their hand every time. Now these poker rooms struggle to stay open.

It seems that 2/4, 3/6 LHE, 4/8 O8 and 2/60 have taken over at RA.
These games comprise 95% of the games usually running at RA at any time.
Getting a game over 3/6 kill or even getting 2/10 spread is becoming very rare.

I got there at 6 last night for a rare midweek session. I played on one of the five 2/60 tables that were running (2/10 just had an interest list). Lots of 2/4 and 3/6 and at least one Omaha game. And they got a 5/60 going about a half hour after I sat down. My table was wilder than usual, almost two-thirds of the hands were straddled. Yum.

I played the 2-60 at RA cause I wanted to go there at least once while they had the $5 dollar comp going. First time playing 2-60 spread, usually do 2-10.

It was a very wild game indeed. Lots of big swings for me, a couple decent players at the table actually, I was expecting everyone to be bad lol. Ended up dwindling away my buy during my last hour or so at the table...but the first 3 hours were lots of fun and I would do it again. Don't say I prefer this to the survival, but its about the closest thing to NL in MN. I feel like people actually start "thinking" at these stakes.

I was at RA last Friday and they actually had fewer 2/60 games (4) than what Erik reported above on Thurs (5) so this $5 per hour is definitely making a difference with more people playing during the week.
Does anyone know if the $5 per hour is going into Feb as well?
The party pit was rocking the hits of the 80's which was pretty funny and enjoyable.

$250 Buy in MN Poker Tour qualifier...

Hey, just wondering what you guys think of the structure for the $250 buy in qualifier for the MN Poker Tour event at RA in a couple weeks? I was thinking of playing in the Friday night qualifier but after looking at the structure, it seems pretty tough. I don't play many tournaments, but I would like to start playing more of them. It just seems like the blinds go up pretty quick. It looks like after an hour and a half, the blinds are up to 300/600 with a 100 ante... (Don't quote me on that, but I think that's what it goes to)

Have any of you guys played in the $250 qualifier? Overall, are they pretty easy qualifiers or is the competition pretty tough?

I picked up a February flyer there yesterday, no mention on it of $5/hr.

There are going to be single table "satellites" (in addition to the $250 qualifiers) for the MN State Poker Tour, supposedly with $60, $90, $150 and $250 entry fees but I'm guessing that they meant to say supersatellites for at least some of those prices, since a $60 single-table entry fee into a $1000+$100 tournament makes no sense.

Unless it's got 17 people on one table.

Got my "newsletter" and coupons from them a few days ago and it says that it WILL continue through February.

Well, it sure wouldn't be the first time that an RA calendar had innaccurate or missing information.

My bad. The calendar does mention $5/hr for Mon-Thur in February. So much for reading comprehension. Doh!

These are pretty soft. But it plays like a turbo, it's missing a couple of blind levels.

Wow, they sure love to give away money and make smaller bad beat jackpots

The way I understood it, was that the $60 single table satellite would pay out two seats into the $250 qualifier. Not sure what the $90 and $150 would be though.

I thought it looked pretty "turboish" in the $250. I am going to miss that one, I hate turbo's all together... Much more of the deep stack play for me. Too tight I guess

2-60 is probably the best game at RA. 2-10 is absolutely the worst game in the house because you have absolutely no way to protect your hand. Good choice to move games. Late Nights are by far the best time to go there. Especially showing up 10 or later allowing drunks to get very well smashed. But the key is table selection for 2-60 because I've played the game ever since it opened and some games are super tight and you can't get any big pots goin, but other tables you can't believe how big the pots get and how fast the action is. Lately the games are getting juicier too I played 4 sessions in the last 12 days. 3 out of those 4 I recognized maybe 1 person off my table and the 4th session I knew 3/4 of the table. So if you don't like your table ask for a table change.

This is right on as far as 2/60 being the best game but also that table selection is key. If you are on a bad table with many recognized faces it's time to get a table change right away.
I should be out there sometime this weekend to try it again.
Nice to also see they extended the $5 weekday comp through Feb.
