Running Aces is running strong! Just had a brief visit to the Twin Cities and had a great time at this room. Lots of action in the various games, great tournaments and harness racing too on weekends! Excellent food too. Friendly dealers and players are welcoming to out of towners ... even got a ride back to Minneapolis at the end of the night (6 am) from a local who refused gas money. A perfedt visit to a poker room!!! The spread limit structure makes for an interesting change from no limit, which isn't legal in Minnesota. Pots ran bigger than NLHE/PLO at my local room.
I know the rule at Running Aces is no outside food, but is this strictly enforced, and is it common for players to violate it? I have a fairly restrictive diet due to health issues, and I don't want to rely on the menu at the restaurant. I'd prefer to bring a modest sized tupperware container with a salad or something similar.
Does Running Aces now change the cards when a player ask for a new set-up?
I have not played at Running Aces since they denied my request for a new set-up. I asked for the change when I spotted a marked card. Neither the dealer nor the floor could see the mark. The player in the 8th seat asked to inspect the card. He said that he could not see the crease but he feel it. That is when I asked for the new setup. The dealer responded "It will slow the game down."
I made a complaint to the Minnesota Racing Commission who oversee and regulate the poker room. I was told by the investigator that Running Aces is well within its rights to deny the request. The investigator said that it was ok for Running Aces to use with marked cards. I then complained to the Governor's office without resolution.
Since this occurrence, I learned the better way to have handled this incident was to call 911 for a Minnesota State Trooper. I have also though ordering the messiest thing on the menu and don't use napkins.
