Jumer's Casino Rock Island opens its new facility on Dec 1.

A NINE table poker room is to be included. This will be the largest casino poker room in Illinois. haha - quite an accomplishment, right? Bigger than Joliet, Aurora or Metropolis. Actually, the Quad Cities has another 9 table room over the river in Bettendorf and its pretty nice.

Rock Island has had a "wide open for gambling" reputation for about the last 1oo+ years. I could tell some stories about poker in the 60's and 70's but those would be another post in another forum.

A few months ago, some knowledgable executive of Casino Rock Island was supposed to send me an e-mail about their upcoming poker room. But he never did. Yesterday I talked with their "Guest Services" telephone staff. They were unable to identify anyone knowledgable about the poker room, but did confirm the Dec 1 opening and that its a 9 table room.

Any Q-C people on this forum have some better info?

When was the last time you were there? Has anything changed in the last 10 years?

I get to Q-C every year or two and always tried to play some at Bettendorf boat. (cause its the only casino poker in town)

Last there in Oct 07. Room had been redone about a year or so before that. Its actually a very nice poker room - for an Isle of Capri property.

My brothers live in Davenport and Dec 1st is his B-day. So for sure he and maybe will hit it up and see how it is run.

Hopefully better than Bettendorf. Bettendorf doesn't listen to their players about what games to play and how to run tournys.

I live in Dubuque where as we speak our expanding their room from 4 to 7 or 8 tables because the players want bigger tournys.

We will let everyone know how the new room is.

I plan on making a trip to Duduque after January 1st. What kind of no limit games do they have going on weekends?

1-2 No Limit is the main game. 100-200 buy-in. Once in a great while they will have a 2-5 game. Send me a message when you stop by.

I don't know - I'd call the Isle 'OK', but not 'very nice'.

I've been going to Catfish Bend in Burlington, IA. The same drive time from Peoria, they spread 1/2 (which fits my BR better), and the staff is friendlier.

I'm definitely eager to hear more about the new Jumer's room. I'll probably head over there sometime in December or January to check things out.

Haven't been there (may go over on Saturday), but news reports are stating that the poker room is only SIX tables.

Yea Jumers open was on my Bday and I was thinking of making a apperance but decided against it cause got the flu. Hopefully they get some 1/2 cause I hate driving over a hour to play if I dont feal like playing 2/5. What I hate about the Isle is that even if they got 7-9 people for 1/2 or PLO they wont open the game, its sooo annoying.

1-2 N/L is soft while the 2?5 N/L has all the regulars. My brother played there and will be posting soon about the specifics.

I went and played at the new Jummers. There was 2 tables of 1/2 NL. I played for 4 hours and left a winner. Most of the play was very basic play. A lot of people were calling light. A couple of decent kids playing a little agg.

Can't wait to go back and take some more money.

OK - I finally went to the new Rock Island casino and poker room.

A beautiful 6 table room. Lots of space, new large tables with great padded rails. Big comfy chairs. Games played 10 handed. $4 max rake. NO stupid BBJ drop.

Wow -- why couldn't all new poker rooms be like this? (hint, Hammond Horseshoe, StL Luminere, or any Harrahs property)

I'm looking forward to a nice Friday nite. Then the bad news.

Where are all the players? There are only 2 games going. Later 3, then 2 again.

Then more bad news. Brush says they play BOTH games here. 1-2 AND 2-5. Whoops -- thats all they have? Just a bunch of NL goofs?

Looks like the Limit games are still over in Bettendorf - they were never very NL friendly there. Rock Island is trying to have a different Limit game on certain days. One day Omaha, one day Stud, one day Hold'em. I was there on the wrong day.

A beautiful facility, though. Worth a poker stop if driving thru the Quad Cities, but not worth a special trip.

Abe thanks for the info. I plan on making the trip Rock Island in July. Room rates are not to bad. On some weekends rates are $109 per night.

Be sure to see the John Looney mansion at the top of the hill on 20th St (Paul Neuman - Road to Perdition tie in) and the Looney gang hangout off 30th St just above BlackHawk Rd.

Then go eat some yummy Belgian food over in Moline.

I grew up in Moline.

Try the VandeRueben, a sandwich famous specifically at the "BVI" or Belgian Village Inn at 560 17th Ave.

If you have a chance get to a Harris Pizza( http://harrispizza.com/) and try the sausage pizza.
I am not a big pizza person, but i would eat THAT everyday if i could.

Jims Rib Haven 531 24th St in downtown Rock Island for Ribs

And Whiteys ( Just ask around) Ice Cream, a Malted Vanilla Marshmallow Shake

I finally made it up there last night, It was a tuesday night.
-The room looked new and was nice.
-Tables looked fairly broken in.
-Staff was pleasant.
-Chips little less clean than i would have liked but hell the belagios are way worse.
-No Table service ever showed up
-Only one table of 1/2NL running
-Game was soft, Limp fest, with aggros post flop only a couple solid players.

I would definately go back, but wish there was more traffic, i'm sure there is on the weekends, but jeesh only one table runnin?

I made it to Jumer's last Friday and played from 11:30 am - 4:30 pm. The room is 6 tables and really didn't get going until about 2:30 pm. We had a $1/$2 NL start with me and three friends making up half the table.

The action at my table was fairly soft and no one that came to our table later in the day was overly impressive. I was card dead and lost two big hands when my AA were cracked by a 62o when the flop brought a pair of 2s, then, I lost a hand when my flopped trips were beaten by an even larger flopped set.

Overall, I liked the room, the dealers and the manager. All very very nice. The casino is nice as well but completely dead. Not sure how they are surviviing but wish them well.

Abe thanks again for your very helpful information. It’s great having people like Abe on 2+2 letting us know what to expect. I just returned from a one night stay there. Jumers has a very beautiful facility. Paying only $109 for a room was a bargain for what they had to offer. I had the pool and Jacuzzi all to my self Saturday morning. The Player’s Buffet was very reasonably priced at $9.71 for lunch.

The bad news is the place is like a ghost town. When I arrived at 2:00 pm on Friday there was nothing going on in the poker room. At 3:00 pm they started a 2/5 and 1/2 NLH game. The 2/5 game played short handed most of the night. They had three 1/2 games going for a short period but most of the night two games were running.

Like Abe said $4 max rake with no bad beat. It would be a great place for a no limit grinder if they could keep the room full. Saturday I walked in at noon and the only game going was 7 stud H/L. With only four players I headed home.
