15 tables 9 handed

I was trying to say it looks like there will be 10 players at each table instead of 9. The photos showed 10 built in cup holders per each table.

That's probably standard, my games at the sands are 9 handed and we sit between the cup holders.

I was told Noon on Wed. is when Rivers opens. Are we able to get in before that to sign up for the Rewards cards? I don't want to be super early if doors don't open until Noon but I also don't want to show up late and be signing up for the card while others are already playing.

Noon is when they open. Not earlier. They are having the cards at the event center to speed things up. If you already signed up online it'll make it that much quicker for you when you arrive.

The web site says that if you have a loyalty card from another regional casino they will match the level. Obviously you have to present that card.

As always thanks for the info Carl. I believe I already did this online way back when. I know I did the Rush to Rewards scratch off that they have and already have a nice $20 dinner comp.

So I just got back from checking out the casino.

First impressions : Small as I knew it would be, but nice. It seems they dont have many table games, and it seems very condensed. Just one event center which apparently can be walled off into sections.

Poker room : 15 tables, all busy. Over 100+ people on a list for 1/2. Shaun Deeb was playing. Ive said it for a while now, the poker scene here in Albany is HUGE, and 15 tables is not enough. Not sure what they plan on doing when tourneys roll around, because if the event center is being used for .... events or weddings, they literally have NO where to go.

Overall looks nice, but it wasnt designed or built to be a destiny casino, but I still think they missed the market entirely. We have Saratoga Racino 30 min north that has just slots / e-games , which seems bigger than this casino.

Excited to see what will happen, but unless they built the foundation sturdy enough to build on top... I think its just way too small. 1800 spots for parking, casino holds 7k. Already a big issue.

I thought I would have a better chance of getting some poker in today than this Saturday. I underestimated, severely, the amount of people that would be visiting today. I should have known, I mean it is a Grand Opening of a brand new Casino.

I found a parking spot about a mile outside of the casino and walked in. Place was absolutely packed as I should have been expecting. I made my way over to the poker room and saw it completely full. Near the entrance there were about 15 people ahead of me and like 2 people at the counter taking initials for games. I left kind of bummed because I really wanted to play and try to make some money and its only 30 min from my place.

I figure Ill give it another try in a month or so when the hype dies down and maybe Ill be able to get in a game without having to wait for 100 people in front of me. What can ya do? Poker room looked really nice though.

Room is going to be a work in progress for quite awhile as a handful of dealers had zero business in that position but the floor work was spot on so this should improve rapidly

I haven't been able to check out the room yet but you have to understand new dealers have to start somewhere.

I remember many dealers on their first day but today they're one of the best in the room.

Take a look at any other Poker Venue thread that has an FAQ in it to get some ideas on what you might want to put in your first post. Since Bruce is a paid advertising rep we're letting him start it.

FYI, Bruce is away due to a family emergency. They brought in a retired poker room manager from NC to cover for him while he's away. I believe he's due back within a couple of weeks. I'm sure he'll get a new thread going once he returns.

I'm thinking about taking a trip up here to check out the room. What time do I need to arrive on a Saturday to get on the 2/5 or 5/10 list without being a long wait?

the earlier the better. ive been getting there 8-9am on the weekends getting a seat no problem. after 11am you're going to wait.

Expanding? You mean they are going to make the room bigger and add more tables?

Rumor is they want to move the poker room to a diff spot or somehow expand. My friends brother is someone who helped get contractors to build the casino (he said they were pretty clueless) anyways apparently they are getting demand to expand not only the poker room but elsewhere. It's simply too small and the demand is too great.

Hope its true . I dont care much for the room to be honest.

Tournaments start in 3 days. Does anyone know the payout? Any idea of duration? 10,000 starting at 25, 100 15 minute levels.

Is there a reason why they don't build a casino with poker in upstate new york near NYC? Like on the border with NJ.

They'd make a killing but I wonder if it's a legal thing or not.
