Any idea when the expected date for their grand opening is? Will there be special promotions?

Yes 16 tables and will have natural light in the poker room. I drove past the site about 2 weeks ago and they are having a lot of progress. Since the winter was a joke, the ground never froze they were able to really get moving. As far as I heard , they are looking to open around Feb 2017.

Expected to open in February 2017. I sure hope they can get 5-10NL here daily and 2/5 PLO and some Big O and other forms of omaha (chourchevel, 6 card omaha, etc.)

I will probably play here everyday.

Urgh I hope this place is solid but I doubt it. 16 poker tables lol. Going to make turning stone look like the stone cold nuts. Would be nice to see tournaments and some solid series but that's hopeful I assume. I would be happy if they can get some splashy 1-2 games on the weekends.

I hope they spread PLO, courchevel, big O, 6 card omaha, and most importantly 5-10NL regularly!

Thoughts on what to expect when this place opens? Do you see the games being easy or hard? Do you see the games being loose and out of control? I'm curious as to what to expect. I'm an online player so I understand the game but have little experience with brick and mortar.

Place will only be 40 min. from home so I see myself visiting several times a month.

Anyways just curious what others think.

The games locally in the area are pretty good. Good players and some loose ones but like any casino ... ton of nits and OMCs who want to wait for aces and kings as they read their papers.

It will be good though.

I hope they aren't all good. LOL I'll need some people to be worse than me. I guess if I can't hang at the NL tables I can always go nit it up at the Limit tables.

I hate the fact that I have very limited brick and mortar experience... just like anything I'm not familiar with I hate the learning curve. I know live will be nothing like online or playing live with friends. I guess I won't be new after a few visits tho... so there is that. LOL

You local Carl? I live just outside of Saratoga so this place will be pretty close... I'm actually thinking of taking a ride out to Turning Stone just to get a session under my belt before Rivers opens.

Ok so I'm just rambling now... thanks for your thoughts.

Yep Albany. I think you'll enjoy it. I have a few friends who are dealing there and was told tourneys won't begin for about 3/6 months from opening.
They aren't aware how well the room will do, so nothing planned as of yet. Gl. See you in feb

Smaller poker rooms are going to be the new norm in the industry similar to Las Vegas. This has been the trend over the past couple years and as more and more rooms open you will see more of the 16-24 table rooms on every corner.

Meanwhile there are NINE new rooms in New England which have opened in the past year and EIGHT of them are 25 tables or less. The one that was larger......that property was sold and the poker room closed.

There are exceptions to every rule and as I said the smaller rooms are the new norm while citing the examples in NH and RI. Arrogantly pointing out the exceptions, as if we don't know they exist, while ignoring the growing trend doesn't contribute much to the thread.

I hope they get 2/5 nl and hopefully (maybe) a 2/5 PLO going there regularly...My parents live 45 minutes away and I would like to stop in and grind pretty regularly when I go visit them..

The potential saving grace for the room would be the local free poker tour giving some false bravado to those players who will take short term shots now that they don't need to travel to Verona. As for 5/10 it would be the most painful game to ever sit in and would be the same 6-7 players every night. This is going to be a slow burn towards being a good poker room and hopefully they stick with it until it does.

In the capital region between all the under ground games over the years I would say I've seen 300+ players. With the general public too.. I imagine the poker room will be decent.
A lot of players from this area would also go to turning stone or Foxwoods. I think it'll take a year before it gets real solid , esp for tourneys since they won't be having any until summer at the earliest.

Hi All,
Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Bruce Dixon and I will be managing the poker room in Rivers Schenectady. We are set to open on February 8th and can’t wait to meet you all when you come down to play. The room will have 15 tables, 10 large screen TVs, tableside food service, free WIFI, nearby surface lot parking and many more amenities.
We will spread the following games:
1-2NL $60-300
2-5NL $200-1000
5-10NL $500-2500
Our limit hold’em will begin at 3-6 and will accommodate any higher limits. We also spread 1-2 PLO (or any other limit), 7 card stud and any limit of Omaha hi/lo.
We will be willing to spread games such as Courchevel, Big O and 6 card Omaha as long as there is a demand and we have NYSGC approval.
We will start daily tournaments about 1 month after opening and will hold large circuit events.
Stay tuned for our opening celebration/promotions.
Look for us launching our own thread here in the upcoming weeks.

See you all soon,
Bruce.

1-2 with a 300max buy in is great! I'm pretty pumped for this room to open.

I haven't found any updates on the details of the poker room, but the grand opening is Wed Feb 8.

The website currently says
The room features 15 poker tables
24-hour food service
Rush Rewards program

Any better detailed / inside info would be appreciated although we will know in person soon enough.
